FLEX Unlock BMW Encrypted Bosch MD1 MG1 ECUs Guide

If you are working on modern B48, B57, and B58 engines, unlocking the encrypted Bosch MD1 or MG1 ECU with Tricore Aurix TC2xx microprocessors (TC298 / TC299) is a straightforward process when using Magic Motorsport FLEX.

The procedure follows two distinct phases: an initial Boot Glitch unlock on the bench (which requires removing the top cover, unsoldering a resistor, and soldering an E1 wire), followed by standard Bench Mode for all future tuning without opening the box again.

Preparation:

Note: make sure Flex software is V8.0 or newer.

Step 1: Pick the Right Protocol

Start by opening Magic Motorsport Flex software.

Search for mg1cs201 or mg1cs024 and choose the protocol marked (LOCKED):

MG1CS201 (LOCKED) for B48 engines

MG1CS024 (LOCKED) for B58 engines

Select BOOT Glitch mode first. Direct Bench mode won't work until the initial boot unlock is complete.

Step 2: Hardware Setup & PCB Modification

Open the Manual tab in FLEX to check the pinout diagram for your board version.

Wire up standard Bench power and the two CAN lines.

Remove the top ECU cover to access the PCB.

Resistor & Wire: Locate the specific SMD resistor indicated in the diagram (B48 and B58 layouts differ slightly). Unsoldered this resistor, then solder the E1 wire directly to the designated pad.

Connect the FLEX harness to Port E according to your pinout (e.g., pins 15 and 28) and link the lead to your E1 wire.

Step 3: Memory Backup, Unlock & Bench Conversion

Hit Connect in Flex software.

Make a complete backup of the ECU memory or save the Internal Flash file.

Run the unlock process using BOOT GLITCH protocol.

Disconnect the boot harness, solder the SMD resistor back onto the board, and seal up the ECU casing.

You can now read, write, and tune the ECU directly in Bench Mode.

Important Reminder Checklist

Keep Power Constant: The unlock procedure takes a few minutes. Ensure your bench power supply is stable to prevent communication drops.

Don't Forget the Resistor:Re-soldering the removed SMD resistor back onto the board is mandatory before reinstalling the ECU in the vehicle.

Lonsdor K518 Pro Program 2016 Lincoln MKX Key with AKL Bypass Cable

When servicing a 2016 Lincoln MKX with no working keys, active vehicle alarm security can disrupt standard OBD communication. Using Lonsdor Ford AKL bypass cable and K518 Pro bypasses active alarm interference to perform key generation, system reset, and transponder adaptation cleanly.

Required Equipment

Lonsdor K518 PRO Full Version(K518 Pro FCV or other K518 series)

Lonsdor Ford AKL Alarm Bypass Cable

At least two (2) unprogrammed Lincoln smart keys (868.5 MHz)

Step 1: Pre-Program Smart Key Transponders

Power on K518 Pro and navigate to Generate smart key.

Select LINCOLN > MKX > 2009-2016 ID49 868.

Place the first blank smart key into the device key slot.

Press Generate to complete the process

Step 2: Connection and Battery Isolation

Select Immo & Remote > LINCOLN > MKX > 2016–2017 > Smart Key > All smart key lost.

Note that at least 2 smart keys are required.

Turn off the ignition. Open and close the driver’s door once to reset system status.

When prompted by the active vehicle alarm, connect Ford AKL alarm cable according to the wiring diagram.

Connect K518 Pro key programmer to the vehicle OBD-II port.

Disconnect the vehicle battery negative terminal, wait for confirmation, then reconnect the battery.

The programmer will read and back up the security data.

Once data reading finishes, restore the factory wiring harness to its original configuration.

Step 3: Key Adaptation Procedure

Confirm harness restoration on Lonsdor K518 Pro. The device will initiate a security calculation timer (approximately 10 minutes).

Allow the system timer to clear existing key data from the anti-theft module.

Place Key 1 into the vehicle's key slot (sensing area). Confirm programming on screen.

Place Key 2 into the key slot. Confirm programming on screen.

Exit key programming once the display confirms two active keys.

Step 4: System Verification

Place Key 1 in the cabin, depress the brake pedal, and press Engine Start.

Repeat for Key 2 to verify engine start capability.

Test Lock, Unlock, and Trunk functions on both remote fobs to ensure full functional synchronization.

Critical Operational Notes

Battery Stability: Ensure a stable external power supply is connected to the vehicle during the 10-minute security delay.

Key Quantity: The Ford passive anti-theft system (PATS) requires a minimum of two programmed smart keys to exit programming mode and clear the security lockout.

When replacing a damaged Mercedes-Benz VGS4 NAG2 (7G-Tronic Plus) transmission control unit (TCU) with a donor unit, cloning the Immobilizer (IMMO) and Coding data is essential to ensure proper operation without dealer online coding. Yanhua ACDP2 with Module 46/Module 16 makes this job perfectly.

Hardware Setup & Connection

Power on your Yanhua Mini ACDP2

Connect the VGS4 NAG2 Interface Board- ACDP Module 46 or ACDP Module 16 to the original VGS4 TCU and ACDP2

Critical Step:Ensure the jumper cap on the interface board is shifted to the CAN-R position to establish stable CAN bus communication.

Note: If you have already purchased Yanhua Module 16, it’s only necessary to buy Module 46 License.

Step-by-Step Data Transfer Procedure

1.Backup Original TCU Data

Navigate to: BENZ-> Gearbox refresh-> VGS4 NAG2 -> Identify Info

Confirm system info is correct.

The IMMO status should be Support refresh/transfer data.

Transfer Data

Select Transfer Data -> Step 1: Read Original Coding.

Confirm prompts and save the file (ends with ...coding.bin).

Step 2: Read Original Immo

Confirm prompts and save the file (ends with ...OrigImo.bin).

Step 3: Refresh Donor Data

Disconnect the original TCU and connect the donor VGS4 TCU with ACDP2 and Yanhua ACDP Module 16 or Module 46.

Select “Step 3: Refresh Donor Data”.

Verify donor TCU details and save system backups (...ClrRam1.bin and ... ClrRam2.bin).

The ACDP will automatically erase the donor module data.

Step 4: Write Original IMMO to Donor

Confirm the donor TCU has been erased

Select the previously saved original Immo file (...OrigImo.bin).

Confirm module details and execute the writing process.

Select Step 5: Write Original Coding to Donor.

Select the saved original coding file (...coding.bin).

Execute the coding transfer until completed.

Verification

Return to the main menu and select Identify Info. Verify that the VIN, Immo status, and coding in the donor TCU match the original vehicle data before re-installing the unit into the car.

Step-by-Step Programming Guide:

Step1: Generating Remote with X-PROG 5

Establish a connection between X431 IMMO tablet and Launch X-PROG 5 unit using the blue USB cable included in the X-PROG 5 kit.

Power on the tablet and navigate to: Key Programming➔ Vehicle Remote ➔ ASIA ➔ Toyota ➔ All remotes ➔ Generate.

Place the original Toyota key into the key recognition slot of Launch G5 programmer.

Wait until the remote generation process finishes successfully.
