still amazed at how they meticulously turn a supposed dreadful event into a most wholesome sweet pivotal moment for both of them... the flash from reporters outside are like hyenas ready to chew the worst in segye and tell the whole world about it, one step away shunned segye just like how his isolated past.
but seori... my girl seori who is afraid of dark, who cease all doubts and run to him after he sincerely wished her night will shining even brighter than yesterdays even after he got cruelly pushed away... who said she will try and protect him despite her lack of wealth and power, and bravely insist if they bound to ruin then they will go and face the deepest pit of hell together. the moment she smiles and see those flash as twinkling stars instead, who see it as a hope that she will no longer alone in this new world, who said to segye that it's because of him her world shine brighter...
and the music background said when you wish upon the stars, makes no difference who you are, anything your heart desire will come to you.
it is both true for segye and seori. segye wish seori's night will shine brighter so he tried his best not to dull the light in her life. he didnt call seori in order to protect her and her rising acting career eventho she is practically the only one who could confirm his alibi and save him from his DUI allegation. his wish granted, in much better way because it is not him distancing himself which make seori's world become brighter, but seori told him herself that her world shines because he is there with her.
imagine hear that words, in that exact moment where you think you have to once again face the cruelty of being misunderstood alone. his granpa always expect the worst in him, his aunts and mundo always scheming and it resulted the world sees him as nothing but a jerk chaebol. he lives and grow up in that kind of ruthless environment with no one really back him up all of those times!! he used to face everything alone. and then comes seori, who offers nothing but companion, both in his past and his present. who hold his hands and said it's okay. who face those flashes with smiles even brighter than all of those flashes combined.
and then seori. who deny the prospect of happiness and miracle in order to protect herself from pain and disappointment. who froze her heart so it won't wound. she rejects segye three times because she is so afraid and feels so undeserving of his affection, especially when she is now inhabiting the body and living the life she thinks belong to someone's else. she thinks herself as imposter. but his wish... his wish even after he got pushed away is sincere. he remembers she is afraid of cramped and dark room so he lit every corner of her spacious rooftop space to make it safer instead of forcefully taking her to somewhere fancier and safer by his standard. he wish her night would shine brighter than yesterday, wish nothing but her own safety and happiness. at that exact moment seori realizes, despite being hurt, segye still respect and loves her tenderly. and that's why she runs to him when the world about to tell segye is the very opposite of who he truly is. seori could not let that happen, could not let segye painted as villain like her.
and that was really the big move from seori, which makes her line 'it really is shining now that i am with you' so impactful. it hits harder to the point of tears. the parallel between the past and present weaved so beautifully and it's frustrating i can't explain it better. segye and seori who used to face the harsh and cruel world alone, who painted as villain, who reject being vulnerable and form a genuine bond with others in order to protect themselves... now not alone anymore. they're hands in hands and face things together, be it heaven or hell. and now they're on the same page i know they will be unstoppable.
(kudos to writer, director, and whole team who knows exactly what we want too see from this pair aka be unhinged together. every cliches in romcom thrown in but the characters reaction feels so refreshing. the plot moving in consistent direction. the characters are evolving but stayed true to themselves. the details are immaculate. the song choices are chefs kiss. this praise might be too much since we still half eps left and it can go wrong anytime, but i'm so so impressed with what they've shown so far and i trust they will deliver till the end).
