"Was that supposed to hurt?”

VIRILE CHARACTERISTICS PORTRAYED INTENSITY. Identical hues of fire opal were piercing the sight of his fathful comrade that has fallen into obscurity. His structure was towering, as a few lightning bolts were engulfing his existence; a way demonstrating his potent element. A few scratches, accompanied with garnet liquid and dirt were ornamenting his facade. His upper garment had received a few splits, but nothing of grave significance. Other things held priority of his attention.
And the sight in front of him was the perfect ILLUSTRATION of the point. A view that the omnipotence manifested loathed to a gargantuan extent. One that he never anticipated to behold. And yet here he is is, standing in front of the INCARNATION OF DARKNESS, having thick fingers curled into ferocious fists, ready to pound them on the other’s thick cranium, combined with an enormous amount of his element.
And he was about to bring success on such task, but seemingly, it was too INGENUOUS to foretell of such. The onslaught that he launched towards the other individual appeared to be successful; having a physical impact towards the other. But it wasn’t enough to bring him to his knees and make the lightning user the CONQUEROR of this confrontation. Under different circumstances, he would have showcased how impressive he felt. To be CAPABLE of withstanding Heavenward Halbert was something rare to witness. Freed was unmistakably strong, but the Thunder God wasn’t aware that his once so-called devoted cromade was wielding SUCH PROWESS.
Furthermore, the rhetorical question that reverberated the ambiance was another factor that PROVED his point— inner assumptions, to be precise. Scrutinizing the facet granted in front of him, he could tell that this encounter was about to become a CALAMITOUS CONFLICT. He shall TURN the impossible to possible in order to save his faithful comrade, and secure his place back to the boisterous premises. Notwithstanding how much he detested in harming him, he was left with no other options to take.
And so, susceptible lips formed an oblique curve, as a way to demonstrate CONFIDENCE AND ARROGANCE. This was a customary action coming from the lightning dragon slayer. The yellow lightning bolts surrounding his existence would multiply, eventually permitting his element to ENCIRCLE him, entirely. Adusting slightly his shoulders, the distinctive large habiliment placed upon them made contact with the dirty ground underneath his feet. He was standing towering, with both vigorous arms folded thereunder his broad chest. It was the ULTIMATE PROVOCATION incarnated in a human being. And soon, for his deep voice to escape his mouth, offering assistance in enhancing the current ‘spectacle’.
❛ Then show me what is supposed to hurt. Unless, you’re too incapable of even scratchin’ me, Freed. Go ahead, prove me wron’. I DARE YOU. ❜

It was no secret that the rune mage’s usage of words was at excellence. Even the use of a few words can spark a variety of topics to discuss. A great conversationalist, he always was. And the contrast of ther socialization skills is gargantuan. Not that such topics were important anyway. Not for this moment.
His voice echoed cranial walls, attempting to provoke the manifestation of lightning into launching an attack on the other. Attacking him without the formation of a plan wasn’t a considerable option to take. One thing for sure is that Laxus’ skillset and abilities when it comes to combat, were untouchable. He wasn’t the best, nor the most accomplished either. But he doesn’t own a grand reputation for nothing. In fact, he was known for his supreme prowess, but that doesn’t come alone. Intelligence plays a huge role in such play. Whilst the dragon slayer of the second generation wasn’t the epitome of wisdom, he was still smart enough to get himself to the level where he stands now. And overtly, climbing higher.
He was also able to train the Raijin Tribe up to his liking, up to the level he wanted them to be. Training sessions raging from hand-to-hand combat to demonstrating their magical abilities. He was already impressed by them when he first fought them during his adolescence, so his anticipations stood in a high pedestal. All three of them were unique. Every single one of them had their own abilities which stood out from the rest of those who belong in Fairy Tail. Or so, that was Laxus’ opinion on that matter. And Freed was no exception. In fact, his rune magic is confoundedly potent; enough to rival him at certain points.
But will that be enough? Who knows.
—— !!!
Identical hues of orange widened the moment he noticed the other individual charging towards him. Ineluctable, this was. He could also acknowledge the obscurity that engulfed the other, layered with madness, as he was ready to harm his former comrade. Perhaps he snapped and he seemed to be unable to comprehend with the current circumstance, indicating losing sight of what’s bound to transpire. Or so, Laxus believed.
So be it. He didn’t travel all this way to share a few mere words of malice with the rune mage. He prepared himself, and mostly mentally, to pound his fists into the other’s body, bringing him back to reality. Because what was Freed living was a lie. A horrible lie, reminiscent of a nightmare. One that the Thunder God would put it at end.
Due to his quick reflexes, he found it easy to dodge. A few yellow sparks appeared around his body, soon to multiply and consequently his dinstictive magic would show up— allowing his existence to take the shape of a lightning bolt. In a moment thereupon, he disappeared from where he was standing, only to land a in a short distance behind the other man. He considered on dropping his arrogant attitude and wearing nothing but sternness. And seemingly that was the right choice. Now, musculine features divulged nothing but seriousness, laced with danger, soon to be accompanied by a deep voice.
❛ —- How careless of you… ❜
With those words a set of thick fingers curled into a ferocious fist, bathed with potent lightning magic, now fully charged towards the other, ready to make contact with Freed’s back.
It has began.
When his deadly blade slashed nothing but the air filled sparking with tension, he knew that he had committed mistake. Similar to how blazing orange eyes of his former comrade and dear friend had widened a mere moment before, his one visible eye of turquoise displayed a feeling that could be recognized as surprised realization. He had without doubt charged forward too quickly, though what was adding to the irritatation that kept on growing and growing within him was the fact that he had permitted Laxus to tempt him into charging towards him as the first one to act.
Fine, so be it. There was no going back, and he was just as prepared to showcase his power in threatening, harming form with the difference that no mental preparation was needed in his own case.
His heart, it was numb, or so one would assume. A heart didn't only contain the positive emotions and vibes, but the less pleasant ones as well. Any sign of irritation, of wrath, of pleasure when tormenting his enemies... every single one of these hinted the existence of emotions, and a working heart. It was merely misguided, in a wrong place. It was concealed by the shadows that had claimed his very existence.
But it was there, and beating.
Freed spluttered an audible breath, right hand holding his sword in a tight grip and his left curled into a fist. His knuckles had turned white from how much firm strength was flowing through the grasps and the look settled in his eye seemed hardly human. It mirrored the inward madness that drove him on to finish what he had just begun on his own terms. Speech belonged to one of his specialties, however he was tired of talking right now. No more mocking conversation, only violence.
Perish.
P e r i s h.
After spitting it out in rage the word was still echoeing in his mind, connected with the very image of Laxus Dreyar. It was no astonishment that the lightning dragon slayer had been able to dodge his mindless attack with ease. No matter the emotion of blind loathing, he was still highly aware of WHO he was involving himself in a very serious battle with.
This was no sparring, no fight to test out limits. This might as well be about life and death (if it was to come down to it, would he really be able to dish out the final blow, though?) and with Laxus he had chosen the toughest opponent he was aware of. Such moments, they felt so far in the past and so dusty; moments of training together with the blond mage, moments of improvement and quite entertaining and fruitful fights. Nobody else knew his techniques better than Laxus or his former team mates... And just like this, there was nobody who knew Laxus' techniques better than him or the likes of Evergreen and Bixlow.
When had their last fought each other one on one? It had been so long, and even longer regarding the time they had fought each other with almost no restraints. This time, there was absolutely no limit at all. His most dangerous condition. Ruthless, uncontrolled - he was the dark.
He was LETHALITY in its highest form.
Freed whirled around where his piercing gaze fell right onto the taller male. He processed the sound of his vox, respiration working hard in both the ire and strange anticipation he was experiencing and just in time he moved, bringing his blade into a horizontal position in order to block the blow layered with nothing but pure power.
Clenching his teeth he held against it, looking Laxus right in the eye as fist met the side of his blade. By a fraction of an inch the other would have been successful at landing a hard punch to his back. His deep vox should be shaking with the rage that was claiming his existence. It didn't. Instead there was a venomous calm in his growl, mismatching his body language.
"You shouldn't have come here."

❛ Heh, looks like the only thing that hasn’t changed is your diarrhea of mouth. ❜
Words eluded his mouth like piercing nails, hurled towards the individual that was standing a few feet far away from him. Being sharp-tongue was something that the manifestation of lightning excelled in. It definitely came out handy in circumstances like this one. However, Laxus didn’t arrive in this particular location just to exchange mere taunts. His plans were of further significance and he would make sure to accomplish them without any failures. He had to.
He would tacitly avow how painful it was to behold the sight of the, once oh so trusted and loyal comrade, to fall into perpetual obscurity. He could recall, in fact, upon his reminiscences Freed’s statement; following him even if it leads into the depths of hell. The thunder God would have hoped that this was nothing but a mere statement, illustrating the rune mage’s loyalty. A way to measure Freed’s faithfulness. Seemingly, that was not the case, and hence such a result was placed in front of him.
Of course, Laxus played his role into this play. His former self that was consumed with nothing but omnipotence and reputation had a huge impact on the Raijinshuu. He was walking a path where it was leading to eternal darkness; engulfing him with each step that he was taking. And it shouldn’t come off as a surprise that the Thunder God Tribe would follow suit. But he had hoped that his excommunication from the Guild would have prompted them to alter their ideals, goals and behaviour; to change the path that they were walking— to stop following his steps. To improve themselves. To become worthy of bearing the insignia of the clamorous premises. To trust and to be trusted. To protect and be protected. To redeem themselves. And it almost worked.
Almost; that is with Freed Justine taking this unexpected route.
Lips parted as a sigh was exhaled. Posture has yet to be altered. He could feel the pressure emitting from both sides. Auras from both men arising. His large garment placed upon his broad shoulders would wave in slow motions. Golden locks of further length would dublicate such movement. Eyes didn’t dare to avert from the detestable spectacle that even dare to speak to him in such manner. A bit amusing, he would admit to himself. And thus, this was the causation for an oblique curve to be formed upon his musculine facade.
❛ Don’t worry. I’ll make sure to end this quick. It shouldn’t be tough, after all. ❜
"Words only a miserably small-minded person would spill. Almost pitiable, if I cared." Such retort hardly did anything to leave a scratch in the distinct sense of aplomb. Unimpressed is what he remained to be; if Laxus was wishing to play a game of sharp tongues then he was capable of swallowing and dishing out all the same. Words were his mastery in so much more than one sense. In fact, a mere word placed correctly in an unlucky moment for his victim held the abilitiy to cause demise and as stated ironically before, he was going to ensure that it was anything but poetic.
Despite it all Freed couldn't disregard the inward knowledge that the dragon slayer seeked him out for a particular purpose, and let it be said that he disapproved of this purpose enough that it had his inner demons snarl at the mere thought of it.
Ridiculous. Ridiculous, a waste of time.
Hell had always been part of him, albeit now it had consumed him, transformed him into its property whilst shamelessly making him believe that he was still master of his own decisions, his own darkened soul. Now he'd been the perfect choice for a puppet, hadn't he? Dark magic always affected its wielder in some way, and the practice of creating an identity with demonic form and power was a risk so huge that only one false movement intertwined with one false intention and state of mind could bear grave consequence... and so it had come.
All obscure parts and willingness had been taken and duplicated, all warmth and kindness and care had been killed. That's how he stood here now, before a man he used to hold so incredibly dear.
The soft breeze stirred long emerald hair though didn't keep his bangs from concealing his right eye from the other's sight. The wind outside served as contrast to the upcoming s t o r m, aura of incredible magic power lingering in the air heavily whilst both men seemed to be rather relaxed. Such deceiving sight to any ignorant eye.
And then it was time, faster than anticipated.
"Huh... amusing... " Lips twitched into a devilish smirk for but a mere moment before it disappeared as fast as it had risen to his facade. Control had always been one of his masteries as well, though with his demons having more freedom to play they messed with him as they wished and Laxus' clearly provocative words (his buried self would have disregarded them and simply let his skills speak; oh how he had enjoyed catching people off guard and making them choke on their previous foolish statement) let something within S N A P.
With a sudden rush of dark aura engulfing his presence, eye glowing as a mirror to his soul, he shot ahead in a movement so quick that there'd hardly passed any time between the two moments. And a hint of dangerous m a d n e s s was lacing his features, sword drawn and aimed at the other man with a boost of concealed strength behind the motion.
"PERISH!"
Dangerous for his opponents... but most of all bearing the nature to turn out dangerous for himself as well.
Oh oH if you're still accepting them would you like to draw Freed in D1? BD If you feel inspired foR IT! <3

❛ … Lucky? ❜
One thick eyebrow was raised ever so slightly in comparison to the other, as eyes never averted from the other individual. Inevitably, lips formed an oblique curve, soon for them to part as a chuckle evaded them. How laughable, he thought. But that wasn’t just it— far from it. But he shall set his inner contemplations aside, as his concentration was still rendered at the rune mage.
❛ And am I supposed to be grateful for that? Or even intimidated? ❜
❛ So, please— go on. Disappoint me even further. ❜
"Lucky." His response came without hesitation, and the fact that this bastard didn't seem to take it seriously vexed him but it wasn't enough to have his overt confidence crumble. He knew what Laxus was capable of, he hadn't forgotten. And he knew what he himself was capable of, what his created 'playgrounds' could bring about. A fish in his net.
Mien remained unaltered, meeting the curve on the other's lips as he showed the slightest inclination to plan on leaving. "It's hardly your feeling that matters to me the most. It's the satisfaction I could get out of it.
Now did you have anything important to say, or is your mere intention to get on my nerves and attempt to achieve anything that's clearly out of reach." Unfortunately, not as much out of reach as he'd like for it to.

❛ Seems like bein’ on the dark side has done nothin’ beneficial to you. Such a shame. ❜
He would avow to no one else but to himself that this current attitude given by his once, most trusted ally, was getting on his nerves. But alas, the lightning mage would try and keep his composure. For now, words will do just fine.
"And do you believe I care about what opinions you hold?" Whilst Freed was exasperated about running into the lightning dragon slayer on a daily basis. Or so it felt. Gaze shifting over to the taller man he scrunched up his nose in disdain. There was something about these encounters that had a tiny buried part within him stirred up, and oh did he despise taking note of it.
“You’re lucky that this isn’t my little playground you’ve set foot on.”
H e a d c a n o n;
In contrast to my main Freed who barely ever even mentions the existence of this certain title of his let alone explain where it stems from among others, Freed has picked his title back up on this blog. So he doesn’t refer to himself with his birth name but with Freed the Dark instead.
//If you repost Freed will come after you. Just saying.

Thick liquid of carnet color would ornament his muscular body, accompanied with the dirt of the earth underneath his feet, and numerous drops of perspiration. His pattern of breathing was heavy. Physical immense pain was the current feeling that he was experiencing. Both palms were rested upon his laps– trying to keep his balance, as to not make contact with the ground underneath him. The material that was encircling his upper body was ripped to shreads, exposing his muscular visage, with several wounds upon it. It was inevitable, due to what transpired and has yet to end.
He had agreed to meet, his once, most faithful comrade in a location away from the outskirts of Magnolia. The lightning mage wished to deal with this situation on his own, without any unnecessary involvements, even from the rest of the Thunder God Tribe. He believed that this was something that he had to take care of his own. And it was nothing else other than bring Freed Justine back. Back to the rambuctious premises that he was once part of. Part of the family that he once belonged to.
It was shameful to see that the rune mage would walk a path that leads to perpetual darkness. A path that the omnipotence manifested was walking as well. One that he was fortunate enough to escape, and walk down the road to redemption. The only path that he hoped that the Raijinshuu would march to. And it almost worked; Almost.
❛ —- !! ❜
Expression took an alteration– thick eyebrows were raised as eyes widened. The words that eluded the other mage’s mouth, echoing his own ears truthfully surprised him. Speechless, he remained.
But that was good.
The fact that Freed is starting to question his own existence was a good sign. Beckoning to his acknowledgement of his erroneous actions. Prompting to a change of heart. Finally, being able to return to his old self. So, this rhetorical question was a good thing that left his mouth. Bringing the incarnation of lightning one step closer to his current goal; saving him from endless obscurity and bringing him back to Fairy Tail.
His pose changed for once more; now standing tall, almost ready to perform another launch at the former captain of the Tribe. Not that this was something pleasing to do, but apparently, it was the only thing that was working. But before he could even take a step further, a sufficient amount of words of his own would do the trick.
❛ You’re what I might have become if I kept on like this, I dare to say. ❜
❛ And I’ll make sure it remains nothin’ more but a bad memory. ❜

Virile existence stood towering. His muscular arms took a folded formation underneath his chest. His pattern of respiration was quite heavy. It was inevitable, after all. He hurled a glance at his surroundings. An appropriate location for such an encounter.
How long has it been? How long has it been since the last time he encountered him? Propably too long; last time he had witnessed the rune mage’s visage was at the conclusion of the infamous ‘Battle of Fairy Tail’— the despicable rebellion that the incarnation of lightning had launched. So, in actuality, it has been years since the last time they had a confrontation face to face.
In a way, Laxus couldn’t help but feel responsible for Freed’s unexpected alteration of personality. Never had he predicted that the epitome of loyalty would fall in the depths of obscurity. It was no secret that in the past, the lightning dragon slayer was known for his boorish behaviour, and the influence that had on the Thunder God Tribe. But never did he expected for things to have such a conclusion. If anything, he had hoped that by giving them a second chance to remain part of the rambuctious premises, it would have helped them to redeem themselves. To correct their mistakes and move forward to a brighter futre and walk on a path with greater opportunities for their lives.
Apparently, that wasn’t the case for Freed Justine.
❛ — Hmm? ❜
His head tilted only a few degrees, as hues of fire opal would pierce the sight that had just approached him, only slightly. Expression saturated intensity; brows furrowed. He had acknowledged the fact that by conversing with this particular individual would only be proven futile. Hence, fists would do the trick.
❛ About time you arrived. ❜
"Did you expect me to go back on my word?" Boots coming into contact with the firm ground beneath left almost no sounds. He'd become one with the shadows, melted with the night, consumed by the darkness that had always coursed through his veins. And so, he was moving effortlessly and as silent as predator on the hunt.
Sword was sheathed and safely by his side, coat no longer matching the crimson of blood but rather the black hole that was where his heart was supposed to be. Turquoise eyes were narrowed slightly, holding Laxus' gaze, unwavering. It had been so long since he'd last encountered him, spoken to him. Oh how different things had been, though it felt more like a manipulated memory than actual reality that had transpired in the past.
Icy calculation in Freed's gaze didn't perish whilst edges of his mouth curved upwards just enough for it to become visible, providing his look with a tinge of insanity. "I keep my word. That's what I tell all those I promise to send through hell alive before putting them to eternal sleep, as well. Ah, such a poetic sound, isn't it?" Except that there was nothing poetic about torture and agony and death. All spilled blood, all air-splitting screams and dead light in the victim's eyes had always merely been red and horrendous and cruel.
And he was living a lie. Caught in the grip of obscurity, running through an endless maze of madness, captured by the claws of his own shadows. They had always been existent... but before his change of path, they'd only gained the upper hand temporarily and whenever he wished for them to. He was the master of his own existence.
Now... Now not anymore. And perhaps, with the importance Laxus had held in his life before so very much changed, he would be the person to give him the wake up call he needed. Not that he wanted, let alone thought, about any of such ridiculous things.
The curve on his lips disappeared abruptly and cold returned to his features. To him, the other man was a mere disturbance right now and deep vox bore a clear air of condescension when Freed raised it again. "I'm already permitting you to be wasting my time, Laxus, so what absurd thing is it that you're hoping to achieve?"
