WIP Tzeentch Lords of Change and rebased an Eldar Falcon to be hover-ey.
Some rhinos I am working on. One of the left was glazed and I don't like it as much.
Just a quick update. Working on my 1000 Sons titan conversion. Also bought Vallejo "Brown Earth" paste and working on rebasing all my vehicles because it will look cool. In the background you can see a Lord of Change that is being worked on, too. Not pictured, some squats I started painting up for a test.
Chaos verse Eldar part two
Chaos lost both titans in close combat but the Avatar was vanquished by the Lord of Change and the Bloodletters and Khorne dogs got revenge for the embarrassing death of their Bloodthirster leader.
Chaos Verse Eldar
Tzeentch demons on the left, Khorne on the right. Supported by a warlord and a reaver + two detachments of Chaos Space Marines. Both armies were close combat monsters (Eldar had a detachment of aspect warriors and one of Harlequins in addition to an Avatar with dreadnought retinue and a few jetbikes)
Demon horde update! Special thanks to Skullhamma whose miniatures helped me decide on a color scheme. I hate the Flamers of Tzeentch's arms so I am making flames that shoot up out of the cupcakes.
Still alive and painting. Working on my chaos force with some trolls, minotaurs, Magnus the Red and Flamers. Behind them is the Warmachine Cryx that I am using as a Chaos Reaver. The reason why it isn't finished is that it is now magnetized. BOOYAH.
Epic 40k Tzeentch Coven: Magnus the Red, Lord of Change, Pink Horrors and Flamers.
Love these
Orks verse Imperium, 2000 points- the end
Coming into this round, the orks had 22 morale points verse the Imperium's 11 so this was an almost foregone conclusion even if I was certain of losing my Gargant. Across the board, all my orks went into overwatch. If the titan lasted until the assault phase, I would try to move forward but it was unlikely. The fire just poured onto the titan and eventually it just fell over. No fanfare. The catastrophic damage roll was a one. The orks had possession of the field.
This was one of my more successful battles. I generally judge how well I did by how much of my force could fight another one and in this I was wildly successful- I still had the Boarboyz and an almost full detachment of Goffs to ride the remaining Imperial forces down.
My opponent remarked that what made this a really fun game was that there was a lot of shooting in addition to close combat. As the recipient of most of the shooting, I don't agree, but this does mark the first time since I started playing epic again that Stompas and Squiggoths have gotten into close combat. The randomness of the game was what made it fun- who would have expected the gretchins to rise up and defeat in detail a detachment of Space Marines? Who would have foreseen the most close-combat-hungry units not getting it together and who could have seen the slugging match between the Gargant and Titan?
As I said before, if you would have told me that any of those things would happen then I probably wouldn't have given myself much hope but I worked with what I had and somehow pulled it off. Next time, a dice roll could be my undoing.
Orks verse Imperium, 2000 points - end of turn 4
A group of Marauder bombers screeched in and barely made a dent in the Great Gargant, which by this point had lost its shields and had been holed.
(First pic) With the Goffs still unable to go into assault (yes another failed leadership roll), the Space Marines ambushed my massed gretchin and stompas with some help from the titan.
(Second pic) Hilariously enough, the gretchin must've been cornered or something because they won out against the Space Marines and drove them back. The titan did wind up crushing the stompa, though.
The Great Gargant failed its leadership test as well (despite being near the army commander) and could not assault forward, but the Snakebite gretchin, stompas and squiggoth surged forward to drive the Space Marines back even more to add insult to injury.
(Third pic) Meanwhile, the Boarboyz milled around some more because of another failed leadership roll.
Orks Verse Imperium, 2,000 points- End of Turn 3
I pushed my Snakebite gretchin and Stompas forward into close combat along with my two battle fortresses, Stormboyz annnnnnnnnnd this was the turn my Bad Moon drop pods entered. I landed them behind his main force with the intent to encircle during the assault phase. Snakebite Boarboyz on my left had other plans as their leadership test came up a one against one blast marker. Yes. Really. My Goffs to the right of all this also came up with a failed leadership test to go into assault so they plinked away with their battlewagon cannons at another detachment of Space Marines off camera. The firing phase was brutal as the Imperium Shadowsword went up in smoke and the Baneblade was sorely punished. The Imperium player suddenly had too many targets and didn't focus the awesome firepower of his Leman Russ detachments and titan effectively. The Bad Moons did pass their leadership test and the orks surged into the assault. Surrounded on three sides, the Imperium center was torn out with only a Basilisk and a Leman Russ escaping off to the side while the Baneblade and titan stood alone. Not bad for not having two out of three of my best close combat detachments. Off camera, my Kult of Speed pulled back into cover after getting drubbed by some tanks. Also off camera, the Imperium's other detachment of Space Marines moved forward towards the factories in the center crushing my right flank and getting primed for an assault into my gretchin and my Goffs were powerless to do anything.
Top pic above is before the close combat and bottom is after. In both you can just see the Bad Moons detachment occupying a hill.
Orks verse Imperium, 2,000 point slugfest- end of Turn 2
Soooooooooo the pictures of Turn 1 were worse than this so here we skip to the end of Turn 2. You can see I've already started to flank the Imperium on the left with a large (40 assault value, moves 20cm and can charge up to 30cm) group of Snakebite Boarboyz. On the right, a small eight unit Kult of Speed is rounding the cover of the trees. In the center is the Great Gargant accompanied by a huge unit of Snakebit Gretchins, a Squiggot and three Stompas. To the left of the Gargant is my army commander with six units of Stormboyz and a Nob unit mounted (26 assault value) in two Battle Fortresses. I was horrified all battle of encountering his Shadowsword because its Volcano Cannon would make short work of the Battle Fortresses four damage points. To the right of the gretchin and Stompas was a large unit of Goff Skarboyz and Nobz mounted in battle wagons. This is the turn they broke and stayed broken... seriously, I could not rally them and I could not get a high enough number to remove blast markers. It was frustrating. My opponent here is trying out a Napoleonic maneuver where he lined two companies of Space Marine tactical detachments shoulder to shoulder and marched them forward supported by Leman Russes, Basilisks, super-heavy tanks and a titan.
Just about 7,000 points… with a lot in need of painting!
I would need a 12' by 6' table to be able to play this army.
I really can't say enough good stuff about...
The Litko blast markers we used for the first time and the buildings from JR Miniatures. When setting up the board, I made a manufacturing park in the middle with some black felt roads and a few factory models. It stood apart from the Games Workshop city towers but in a really good way. So hooray to Litko and hooray for JR Minis.
In honor of the 40k ork release! Coming soon a 2,000 point battle report of orks verse Imperium. Goffs, Snakebites, Blood Axes, Bad Moonz and Kult of Speed took on Blood Angels, a titan and Imperial Guard Armor/Artillery.
Finally getting together tomorrow for a game of Epic 40k. As usual, I am playing the orks and here is my 2,000 point army. Top left is a Blood Axe Commander with seven Stormboyz and one Nob mounted on two BattleFortresses accompanied by a Weirdboy Battletower. The Stormboyz have an incredible assault move that I hope will make up for the paltry 30cm a turn they will go in the Fortresses.
Top right are 12 Boarboyz with a Warboss. Super fast on the attack and dead hard. I purposefully didn't give them a psyker in order to not slow them down. They'll mass a huge 40 assault points in close combat.
In front of them is an eight unit Kult of Speed with zippy bikes and buggies and a Mekboy Speedsta kitted out with a death ray. I am experimenting with small, fast units used in firefights to blunt a successful assault by the enemy.
To the left of the Kult and in front of the army commander is my Bad Moonz drop pod squad. This features a Warboss, Weirdboy, a whopping eight Nobz, four boyz, four Shoota boyz and five big guns. This unit pumps out a lot of fire power but also has a good chance to survive thanks to the Nobz power armor.
Then comes a full complement of Goffs mounted in battlewagons. There's four nobz and then nine Skarboyz + 14 battlewagons means that no one has to walk and they get the +1 for passing command tests.
Finally up front is a kind of really orky Snakebites detachment that I don't think will do much but I hope it takes my opponent's mind off of the speedier detachments. There's three Stompas, one Squiggoth, four Pulsa Rockets, eight Gretchin and four Snakebite Boyz. I also picked up a Great Gargant so I am hoping they will swarm around him and be a huge firepower soak.
My plan is to swing around like a door using the Gargant and Snakebite Stompas as a hinge on the right. Goffs and army commander in the center and the Boar boyz on the left. The Kult will have to find its place. Eventually the Bad Moonz should drop in to liven things up. I still don't know which army he's going to take but this is a good all 'round force that does what the Orks do best: overwhelm in close combat.
