Especially if you are a very paranoid person due to OCD, PPD, etc. you do not deserve to be told you will die or that anything horrible/horrific/bad to happen to you, it WON’T, I should know, I’m guilty of thinking this myself).

No, you do not have to offer food to a cthonic deity if you do not wish to, but if you want to and feel bad leaving food to rot or cannot afford to throw it out, then you are able to eat it. I repeat, nothing bad will happen, you will not die, you will not be rejected by the gods or anything similar.

I have seen too much paranoia triggering posts saying horrific things will happen to you if you do so, it will not, people also need to learn to tag paranoia inducing/unreality posts properly, it is genuinely terrifying to some who cannot tell reality from fiction.

Not to be criticizing others’ worship, as I’m certainly not perfect, but I do feel I have to stand on this soap box:

If you knowingly remove another culture’s worship from its roots, its customs, and the cultural ties that surround it, you are actively colonizing your practices.

Not just closed practices, such as Hoodoo. Let’s take Lady Aphrodite, for instance. I have seen criticism of art of the beautiful goddess because she had Greek features. The goddess. From Greece. Or giggling because the statues of our beloved gods are in the nude, commenting on the bodies of the theoi disrespectfully.

There is absolutely something to be said about your personal relationship with the gods and giving them what you can. I’m not asking you to act as if hundreds of years have not passed. I don’t expect you to travel across the world to worship at a “real” temple (that has been destroyed anyways -_-). You can offer a tollhouse sugar cookie to Hermes and I’m positive he will adore it.

Getting off of my soap box now. Just remember to be respectful, honor the gods, and if you see someone colonizing their practices, don’t call them out harshly. A lot of practitioners are minors, or just starting out. We’re all learning.

It's okay to take breaks in your worship. The gods understand if you need to rest and take some time to yourself. You'll be fine, you just need time. The gods will not be mad at you if you don't pray or leave offerings for a while - they understand that we're mortals who need breaks sometimes <3
