2016 in Review and What to Expect for 2017 in Game Translation
Well, this has been overdue, and most of my posts haven’t been on translation, so I will talk about 2016 and what to expect in 2017.
2016 has been kind of a forgettable year for translation in general. Since finishing Nocturne: Rebirth, I have tried my hands on translating 2 games, but both have ultimately ended up in hiatus. I just didn’t feel those games are worth translating midway through the translation.
I did, however, tried my hands on a manga translation battle contest (https://myanimelist.net/manga_translation_battle_vol5). The idea was to translate a few pages of a manga. So I gave it a shot, and I received the results recently and...well, I didn’t make it. It was worth a good try though, and I gained some experience from the translation.
That being said, what should you expect from 2017? Well, I’m currently translating a Japanese game that I will reveal once I’m close to midway through the translation. It’s a game that I initially put off translating because it’ll be getting a revamp, but seeing how popular this original game is in the Japanese indie game community, I’ve decided to translate this. And this game will most certainly be released this year, so keep a lookout for it ;)
And yeah, that’s my current plan for 2017. I have a few other games in mind to translate, but they haven’t been released yet, so I’m looking to see if they’re worth translating. One of the games is this: shinobiya.at-ninja.jp.
I may also look into other things to translate. I’ll see how things go after I’m done with translating the current game.
