Happy International Women’s Day! For those of you that do not know me, I’m a boy. My wife says I’m four. She means that in the endearing way, in the how I see wonder and beauty in everything around me sort of way, not in the petulant child sort of way. In my life and my business, I have the immense honor of being able to have friends, clients, and of course, my wonderful wife, who are all strong, talented, and independent women. Celebrating women does not belittle men. Nor does there need to be an International Men’s Day. Having a day set aside for women such as this, helps to remind us that the world often takes advantage of women. It should not be this way. And to be fair, it is not only men that do this, women can also mistreat other women. Women need a great deal from those around them. As people, here’s what we can do to honor the women around us - - [ ] Respect them - [ ] Listen to them - [ ] Value their opinions - [ ] Empathize with them - [ ] Celebrate their successes - [ ] Protect their humanity - [ ] See them and treat them as equals Building up others in no way brings you down. If we all spent more time building each other up, we would be in a much better place. Taking a little time to treat others with the respect and appreciation that they deserve is good for all of us. I support humankind. Every day I strive to lift up everyone around me, whether they are men, women, cis, transgender, genderqueer, non-binary individuals, or anything else. But today, we need to remind ourselves that women around the world are often mistreated, taken advantage of, and abused, simply because they are female. To help celebrate them, I have chosen this image of @akbotnick In this simple photo, I see her strength, her beauty, her years of training and dedication to an art form she loves, and I am reminded of her wit, intelligence, and kindness. So on this International Women’s Day, I hope that you will strive to honor, respect, and appreciate the women around you, regardless if they are two, or 92.
