"I have fallen in love with the strength and warmth of these beautiful women. They gave me more than I could every give them. Equip India is doing what no one else in this region is doing. The need is dire and will continue to grow. Education is the only form of charity that gives back."

Mohammed Ghouse
Success Story from Equip India
Mohammed Ghouse
Mohammed Ghouse lives in a small house consisting of 2 rooms, along with his parents and siblings. Mohammed is the oldest among two sisters and a brother. Mohammed in his childhood suffered with Polio, which affected both his limbs. His left leg was shorter than the other and this made walking very difficult.
On his visit to our clinic, he was sent to our consulting surgeon who advised him to undergo a surgery. Mohammed's father is a carpenter and earned a meager income which was insufficient to pay for such an expensive surgery.
Thanks to sponsors,he finally underwent the surgery. At the end of 5 months, the surgeon removed the rods and placed his leg in a plaster cast. The limb had grown by 7 centimeters! Through the generous interventions of Equip India donors, he was able to go through the surgery. Mohammed and his family were so thrilled to see the difference. Mohamed is now out of the cast and is on regular physiotherapy for proper walking pattern and strengthening of his leg muscles.
Mohammed and his family were so thrilled to see the difference. Mohamed is now out of the cast and is on a regular physiotherapy for proper walking pattern and strengthening of his leg muscles. He also has taken up a technical course for his studies.

Twenty-five-year old Rukhmini was born in to a family of farmers. Although she was born deaf and unable to speak, she went to a regular school with her brothers.
The school made no accommodations for her special needs. Yet, she learned to read and write all on her own and excelled in the primary and secondary years of her education.
She also developed a crude, improvised form of sign language which allowed her to convey simple messages.
Over the years, as it became increasingly difficult to communicate and grasp complex concepts, she discontinued her education and chose to take craft classes.
Hearing about Equip India’s program for women, an eight month long vocational training in sewing and embroidery, from her cousin, she came to Equip India one month ago.
Besides being a talented seamstress, Rukhmini is also a good cook and an excellent mimic. She is a source of joy and laughter to her new community of friends.
