In light of the news that the RT website and apps will shut down on May 15, I'm starting a record of what I've got saved locally + what I'm planning to save. I am not trying to get a comprehensive archive of all AH/LP content; that's what the Archive of Pimps is for. Instead, this is a personal library that prioritizes content that I enjoyed and want to rewatch down the road.

If you think I'm missing anything, let me know. If you have requests for specific videos, let me know and I'll see what I can do. Also, if anyone has a FIRST account they don't mind sharing, I'd love to get into the RT website and get local saves of FIRST content, like Hardcore Tabletop. RT has disabled the ability to purchase a FIRST membership, and has not shared what will be happening to FIRST content once the website shutters.

Finally, I'm currently on pace to fill up a 2TB hard drive (Minecraft alone is almost 1TB), and I'll need another 2/4TB hard drive to continue nabbing local saves of things. Bit of a long shot but would anyone happen to have links to anarchetypal’s old RTAH fics? I know they orphaned a bunch of their stuff right around the time they went inactive, and I’ve only got one or two bookmarked. But they had some of the best FAHC dynamics I can remember reading and I’ve got a real hankering for going down memory lane.

Fyi, a bunch of Redditors are working to archive RT and AH content. Find more info and a link to the discord here, and here’s the site where they’re uploading everything.

Another Redditor has a torrent for every AH video across all YouTube channels, linked here, though no one can confirm how good the video quality is.

Personally, I’m also gonna be nabbing a good chunk of content to store locally. All the Minecraft Let’s Plays, Hardcore Minigolf, TTT if I can get adequate storage, various videos here and there that made me laugh over the years.

If any of you have First accounts, I would suggest downloading any First-exclusive content you want to retain access to. It’s unclear if First content will be nuked once the company shuts down, and the archivers are currently not uploading it anywhere due to it technically being piracy.

I know rooster teeth had a whole fucking host of problems and haven't watched their stuff in years but I still shed a tear for another day another internet group getting bought out by big media companies because "they're successful" and then being shut down because they don't make enough profit for wall street. let things stay small. not everything needs to be contract deals and billboards the beauty of the internet should be that there's thousands of little things for people to find the niche they like, not that anything that becomes popular is obviously the next big franchise and we need to throw millions of dollars at it. We live in an era where big companies are taking everything small from us. Heardle getting bought out by Spotify and then shut down bc they realized it cost more than it made. capitalism and the Internet are not built for each other.

I’m coping in an extremely healthy manner by rewatching the Minecraft playlist and god….. it was a simpler sillier time back then. I miss the jokes and fandom and camaraderie more than I can articulate. It’s lovely to be back in that era and remember all the fun I had with my fandom friends and the AH guys and everything

I haven't watched any RT and related content in a very long time, but the company going down is still jarring.

AH was the first gaming YT I ever actually intentionally followed and was the only one for a long time. I didn't really get into the community for it until Jeremy started streaming on Twitch back in 2016. It's been a ride ever since. I have made and lost so many friends since then and I couldn't be happier than where I am at right now.

RT created a butterfly effect in so many people's lives that will never be forgotten.

Here's hoping all the people who just found out today that they won't have a job in a month or so are able to find a new one swiftly.

the thing about variety describing warner bros discovery making "unsuccessful attempts to sell the unprofitable fandom" is that this shifts all the blame on the audience. how are you gonna try that with a fandom that crowdfunded films on a record-breaking scale, raised millions for extra life for years and years, and spawned their own fucking convention because RT was so goddamn popular?? insane that poor business restructuring and shitty company practices from WBD is being spun into "our audience didn't give us enough money so unfortunately, we have to sell RWBY (a western show that enjoys enormous popularity in japan despite not being a homegrown anime) and RvB (a show which pioneered machinima as both a genre and medium)"
