Clint chuckles a bit and stood with him, pulling him close and smiled a bit. “Well I really want to taste the tiramisu one,” he spoke and kissed his cheek softly.
“And I don’t get that why just.. maybe sometimes but well-“ he stammered and cleared his throat.
Tony leaned into Clint’s embrace. A few people had clearly clocked who they were and kept stealing glances at them. Someone would probably ask for a selfie soon enough, but for now he was happy being all sappy with Clint. “What a surprise, you’re getting the coffee one. I bet if they had pizza ice cream, you’d get that too,” he teased.
He kissed Clint’s cheek. “It’s okay. You’re very cute.”
Clint chuckles. “Well. I love pizza but I don’t think that’s… that’s not a flavour we need,” she spoke and chuckles a little bit shaking his head a bit.
“So are you,” he spoke softly and leans into the kiss. He ordered the ice creams then smiled and nodded a bit as he paid for them handing him his ice cream.
Clint cupped his cheek kissing back and sighs happily as he moved his lips with his before hearing happy and blushed instantly and cleared his throat. “Sorry happy,” he mumbled and got out and opened the door holding it for Tony his hand outreached for him.
Tony laughed hard when Clint got all shy and embarrassed. He got out of the car with him and took his hand, pulling him in against him and kissing his cheek. “You’re cute when you get all shy like that.”
He tugged his hand. “Come on. Let’s get some ice cream.” He pulled him inside and went and joined the queue. “What are you thinking today?” he asked. “That praline butter cake sounds pretty good.”
Clint chuckles a bit and stood with him, pulling him close and smiled a bit. “Well I really want to taste the tiramisu one,” he spoke and kissed his cheek softly.
“And I don’t get that why just.. maybe sometimes but well-“ he stammered and cleared his throat.
Clint smirks and looked at him. “Don’t laugh,” he spoke and shook his head as he looked away blushing a little.
“It’s true though. That’s where I realized I might want more than sex,” he spoke and shrugged a bit.
Tony laughed more and wrapped his arm around him. “You are so cute,” he teased. “Then it is a special place for us. And we’ll have some ice cream and I’ll stake my claim while we’re there.”
He kissed Clint’s cheek and then guided his chin to face him and kissed him properly, tilting his head to deepen it and letting his lips move with his.
They were still kissing when the car pulled up at the ice cream parlor and Happy cleared his throat.
Clint cupped his cheek kissing back and sighs happily as he moved his lips with his before hearing happy and blushed instantly and cleared his throat. “Sorry happy,” he mumbled and got out and opened the door holding it for Tony his hand outreached for him.
Clint chuckles softly and held him close kissing his cheek. “Well, you like it. And I kinda like it too,” he spoke and smiled a bit.
“It reminds me of when all of this with you started. How you got jealous at some girl staring or something.” He spoke and smirks. “Adorable.”
He laughed. “I like it, but you’re so much bigger of a sap than me. So so much. You’re a little cheese ball.” He kissed his cheek.
He laughed harder. “That’s why you like it? Because I staked my claim in front of some girl who was flirting with you? That’s hilarious, honey.”
Clint smirks and looked at him. “Don’t laugh,” he spoke and shook his head as he looked away blushing a little.
“It’s true though. That’s where I realized I might want more than sex,” he spoke and shrugged a bit.
“I totally get that,” he spoke and smiled before humming. “I’m definitely full but.. I’m feeling sappy like always so atleast let’s go there and have an ice cream and share?” He asks gently. “If you want of course,” he spoke.
Tony nodded. “Okay,” he said. “We can do that.”
Tony leaned forward in the seat and gave Happy the name of the ice cream place. When he sat back again, he leaned against Clint. “You are such a big sap, you know that? So very sentimental.”
Clint chuckles softly and held him close kissing his cheek. “Well, you like it. And I kinda like it too,” he spoke and smiled a bit.
“It reminds me of when all of this with you started. How you got jealous at some girl staring or something.” He spoke and smirks. “Adorable.”
Clint smiled softly and nodded gently walking with him as he intertwined his fingers with his. “Yeah, it was nice. I liked the dinner aswell because sometimes I actually understood what was being said,” he spoke and chuckles. “Always find it so strange some people like Hawkeye though,” he spoke and wrinkles his nose a bit.
“It’s fun but still feels weird,” he added. “So, you think we have time to go to our ice cream shop?” He asks gently kissing Tony’s hand in his.
Tony laughed. “Yeah, the dinner was fun. It’s nice to be able to talk with people who understand what I’m saying about my work sometimes.” He leaned over and kissed Clint’s cheek. “I am glad you had fun too.”
He nodded. “Sure. You still want ice cream after all that food? It’s not just the romance goggles? We can stop if you want to.”
“I totally get that,” he spoke and smiled before humming. “I’m definitely full but.. I’m feeling sappy like always so atleast let’s go there and have an ice cream and share?” He asks gently. “If you want of course,” he spoke.
Clint didn’t really think the thing was a big deal really, he just knew it was something Tony liked to do so he was in a mind were if it was importert to Tony, it was important to him. No matter what it would be. And it had been a big deal for Clint because he hadn’t been to a lot of stuff like this. So naturally he was just curious about the whole thing.
Clint sipped his beer gently and grabbed Tony’s hand rubbing his thumb over his hand gently as they enjoyed the silence for a bit. It was comfortable.
They sit and drink together, a few people approach them to either talk or ask for a selfie. Many of them are mostly interested in Tony as an engineer, but there are some that are Avengers fans who are equally as excited to speak to Clint too.
When the time hits, they head up to dinner. Happy takes a break then, heading off to get a meal himself while the security for the hotel take over. It’s a nice, relaxed meal with just a few speeches.
By the end of the night, Happy returned to take them home. “There, that wasn’t so bad was it?” Tony said, taking Clint’s hand.
“Oh yea I know, I meant more so with the sponsors thing and finding people you want to work for you,” he asks gently.
“Like that one woman you talked about,” he added. “Anyways,” he spoke and inhaled deeply kissing his cheek softly before holding his bottle of beer up. “To you and to us and all that follows,” he spoke softly.
He rubbed Clint’s back. “Well, thank you, honey,” he said. It seemed like Clint still thought this whole event was much more important and significant than it was, when for Tony it was just a fun, interesting part of his job. He felt a little bad that he hadn’t gotten that across better sooner. He’d really have to find something to take Clint to that felt more significant, but he couldn’t think of anything that really stood out to him in that vain. He couldn’t make someone nominate him for an award and even when he did win them, he really didn’t give much of a shit. He ran his company so he didn’t need to pitch ideas. Sometimes he did it to investors, but rarely. They usually came to him. Maybe he could host a charity gala for something important to Clint? Tony would be nervous about that coming off well, and they could dress up, then all this praise would be warranted. Or maybe if he invented something really revolutionary and they did a product launch?
He’d have to think about it.
When Clint raised his glass, Tony clinked their glasses together. “I can drink to that,” he said and took a drink of his Scotch.
Clint looked at the bartender and smiled a bit. “Just a beer for me, please,” he spoke softly and looked back at Tony.
“So? How you feeling? You feel good about today?” He spoke and cupped his cheek for a second before letting his hand drop.
The bartender went to get their drinks and Tony turned toward Clint a little and tapped his thigh against Clint’s. “Yeah, baby. Like I said, this is no big deal. I do them all the time. And it’s not an award show. It’s just science guys sharing their science. It’s fun, Clint.”
He patted his leg. The bartender brought over their drinks and set them down and Tony paid him, slipping a tip into the tip jar.
Clint kept his hand on the bottom of Tony’s back following him through the crowd and chuckles a bit. “Course I have,” he spoke and smirks a little bit as he kept close.
“I didn’t think it would be this many people for dinner aswell,” he spoke and hummed a bit.
Tony headed to the bar and took a seat on one of the corner barstools, nodding to the bartender who was serving someone else. “I’m not sure that all these people are going to the dinner,” he said. “It’s a hotel. It has people staying here and just coming in for a meal or a drink. There will be a fair few people at the dinner though. A ball room’s worth, I guess.”
When the bartender was free he approached them both. “What can I get you?” he said.
“Scotch. Whatever’s top shelf,” he said.
Clint looked at the bartender and smiled a bit. “Just a beer for me, please,” he spoke softly and looked back at Tony.
“So? How you feeling? You feel good about today?” He spoke and cupped his cheek for a second before letting his hand drop.
“Ah, okay got it,” he spoke and chuckled before nodding walking with him smiling a bit as they got into the car and happy drove them towards the hotel.
“How long is the dinner?” He asks curiously. “Because now, after you on that stage I’m struggling to keep my hands to myself now,” he spoke simply in tonya ear only for him to hear.
The Hyatt was only just up the road, so almost as soon as they got in the car, they were pulling into the valet parking. They all go out together and Happy handed over the keys.
There were already a bunch of people milling about. The hotel was where many of the people were staying from the conference. Tony headed into the bar with Clint, while Happy followed along. “I don’t know. It’ll probably go until about nine, I guess.” He patted Clint’s shoulder. “You’ve been very well behaved.”
Clint kept his hand on the bottom of Tony’s back following him through the crowd and chuckles a bit. “Course I have,” he spoke and smirks a little bit as he kept close.
“I didn’t think it would be this many people for dinner aswell,” he spoke and hummed a bit.
Clint wrapped his arm around his shoulders and smiled ever so slightly as he kissed his head gently.
“Yeah I think a drink sounds good,” he spoke softly and walked towards the exit. “What is the HYATT anyway?” He spoke curiously.
“They Hyatt is a hotel chain, Clint,” Tony said, patting his shoulder. “One of the better ones, but not quite at the calibre I usually stay at. But they’ll have a bar and the dinner is in the ballroom.”
He nods to Happy and they begin walking out as a group. He nods hello to people that greet him on the way out, but is able to get through without having to stop and talk too many times.
Clint was in absolute awe at what he looked like when working. He was glowing. He loved it. After he was stood in the conference room looking for Tony while sipping his wine. And then finally he saw him.
He walked towards him an smirks a bit. “Tony,” he spoke softly before grabbing his hand pulling him closer. “Hey you,” he spoke softly. “You did so well up there,” he spoke softly.
Tony smiled as he pulled himself away from the group and put his arm around Clint’s waist.
“Thank you, honey,” he said. “I’m glad you liked it. Dinner is being held over at the HYATT. Do you want to go over there and grab a drink at the bar before we head to dinner?”
Clint wrapped his arm around his shoulders and smiled ever so slightly as he kissed his head gently.
“Yeah I think a drink sounds good,” he spoke softly and walked towards the exit. “What is the HYATT anyway?” He spoke curiously.
“Sounds like alot of work,” he spoke and nodded walking beside him glancing around. “Then again you do seem to enjoy it, so I’m glad you have this,” he spoke softly smiling a little.
“I’m proud of you,” he spoke softly pressing a gentle yet soft and discreet kiss to his cheek.
“It’s only work if you don’t enjoy it right? And I definitely enjoy it,” he said.
She smiled and put his arm around Clint’s waist. “Thanks, honey. That means a lot.”
Most of the afternoon passes in the same way as the morning. Sitting through a lecture and meeting with people and talking science. Then it’s time for Tony to give his talk. The conference room is fuller than most as he talks about the arc technology and the future for free unlimited renewable energy. When he was one he had to pick his way through the crowd around him to get to Clint again.
Clint got up with them and pulled Tony close as they headed back towards the conference. “Is there many of these a year?” Clint asks curiously as he kept his hand on the small of Tony’s back.
Happy led the way back over to the conference hall and Tony strolled along with Clint. “Oh yeah. All the time. I always have a massive list of things like this I’m invited to attend or speak at. Science, and math in particular, is a discipline that thrives best sharing. And then if you add in environmental conferences. But I don’t go to all of them. I pick out a few that look best every year. I do send a lot of people who work for me to things though, and approve trips to conferences when asked most of the time. My employees need to stay in the know.”
“You just got a filthy mind, babe.” He teased and chuckled and just as he was asking for happy he came back. “Sorry- the line-“ he spoke and let out a breath as he sat down to finish his food.
Clint aswell finished his food and looked at them all. “Alright we all done?”
Tony shrugged that’s true,” he said.He laughed when Happy sat down a little breathless. “No worries, man,” Tony said. “Though I did think I was going to need to send in a search team looking for you.” They finished up their food and Tony paid, leaving a generous tip. He stood and straightened his jacket out. “Yep. I’m ready,” he said. “Let’s head over.”
Clint got up with them and pulled Tony close as they headed back towards the conference. “Is there many of these a year?” Clint asks curiously as he kept his hand on the small of Tony’s back.
