Eragon aesthetic
saphira-scales:
“You don’t have to show me anything, Eren, I’m all fine. I can picture it well enough from your whiny thoughts alone. Or have you already forgotten about our connection?” Another thing she missed, even if she liked being able to openly speak to people. “We will get back up one day, we can’t be stuck here forever that’s just insane.” Saphira placed her hands in her pockets, feeling her heart sink a bit while listening to Eragon’s smaller rant. “I understand, I guess people are simply more occupied by stuff around them. They seem… more independent than before, if I have to say so myself. Maybe we should just grab every member and make our own town?” She finally let out a laugh at the thought, wondering what mess that would bring. “Do you really have to ask me that? No, I haven’t but I’d say it’s worth a shot if it takes away a few hours from our lives.” She wrinkled her nose, playing a bit offended by his words. “Not thanks to you, you know.”
“But picturing it through my memories just isn’t the same, you have to live it to understand it and you have to try as many things as possible while you can!” He crossed his arms and tried to give her a stern stare, but failed pretty quickly and allowed his hands to fall down again. “Who knows? Yet someone has to figure out why or how we even got here to begin with. That’ll be something once they do but I don’t think anyone’s in a rush either.” Saphira was right about that part; back home everyone had to rely on each other to get through the winters, food cuttage and other natural disasters. It was either trade or hope you can find it on your own, families living together for generations inside the same house. Here it felt like people his age couldn’t wait to move out and mostly they didn’t move back with their parents until a generation later. Everything was upsidedown to him. “That doesn’t sound like a bad idea, keep to it in case things turn badly and fine, let’s trust our guts with this. What’s that supposed to mean?” He gave her an offended stare this time, hoping to keep it up.

“Yu-huh, yu-huh! Those skills will getcha’ somewhere whether you like it or not and can be a barrel’a fun if you take the time to enjoy being taught them. I dunno. That sounded pretty good in my head, but whatever.” Didn’t everything? Tom had been about the same way. Sometimes he would choose to be stubborn and not try and learn things to their full potential but other times he would be completely into and devoted to it and would strive to top that sort of thing. However, time did fly and he was starting to feel less and less open to picking up new abilities which he deemed not so good for him. “Same, same. Ugh, exactly! These sissies don’t know a thing about making their own squat! Lousy gen’ration this is. Lousy. They don’ even know a decent game from a terrible one. It’s too sad. Stores kin be life-savers but what’s to it? Sometimes it’s better to just trust the things you’ve grown-up to eat than a bunch of factory produced juices and junk.” He followed the direction that was being pointed in with his eyes and then nodded along. “Bully. Shall we getta’ move on? I’d love to get there soon so I kin ditch these shoes and ‘cause the water sounds much better than just walkin’ around.”
Eragon nodded strongly in agreement to Tom’s words. “Life is unpredictable, right? I mean what happens if you’re suddenly stranded or stuck somewhere without food and you have to get your own. At least knowing the basics for times like these can save more than your life.” Sometimes skills came natural, sometimes they didn’t and fishing could take hours upon hours if you did it wrong. “Yes! Not even the scouts, or whatever they’re called, gets to learn propper knowledge about food and building. I work in a hardware shop and let me tell you how many times I have met people who don’t even know how to use a hammer, or people who don’t know how to maintain the houses they buy.” He shook his head in disappointment, feeling that was at least basic knowledge anyone should be aware about or be able to read up on too. “Humans have grown lazy, but ay we should!” Eragon grabbed Tom’s shirt and began to pull him along towards the closest busstop that was bound to take them to the outskirts of Quebec. “For how long have you been here, by the way?”
tommyboysawyer:
At the burst of enthusiasm, Tom only began to grin like a madman. It seemed he had already made a fast companion and so he was now confident he could make so many more. Not that he had already told himself he could do so before. Oh no, he’d done that plenty a time. It was now that he had first tried it and the results were promising enough to him. He was no stranger to lakes but of course would prefer the childhood swimming hole or the rushing currents of rivers to it. Somethings stuck like that with him and most of the time he was far too stubborn to change it. “Really? Well, you gotta! It’s mighty fun and even funner to brag to friends about. I could show ya sometime if’n you want. Swimmin’s not as it once was. Now it ain’t real crystal clear water and more fake stuff. Ah well. Lakes? I’m fine with ‘em. I suppose we could go find one. They’re practically everywheres around here, at least, I think.” Therefore he did not know but he would probably teach someone who thought otherwise a lesson so it was best left untouched.
“I don’t see a reason not to learn, right? The more skills you have the better, I’d say. You never know when you might need them.” His life had been filled with that type of education since he had been fifteen, which wasn’t a very long time if you counted how long young people had to study just to get a job these days; but his skills was another matter besides math and literature. Everything felt like ages ago, even if he had barely hit the 21 years old mark. Where did time go? “It feels like a lot of things are fake these days, irks me a bit to be honest. Where I’m from you had to do everything from scratch -- food, your house, medicine... surely it’s great to be able to pick something up from a store but you just don’t know what’s in it.” Eragon nodded and pointed up ahead. “Countless of lakes just outside town, we can take a bus to the edge and walk the last bit. Shouldn’t take more than ten - fifteen minutes I’m sure.”
tommyboysawyer:
Tom quite understood that sometimes no one could make any meaning of what he said. He tried to avoid using those simple words but in the end he couldn’t help it. Part of it was for show and part of it was that he could not really control it. Odd, yes, but he already knew himself to be a strange and self-pronounced “special” person so there really wasn’t any explanation beyond that. Although, he too seemed to notice the wide assortment of accent and word variations in the city and grew jealous each time he heard a different way of speaking. It was simply because he wanted to stand out more than he already did and besides, what was Tom Sawyer without his envious side? As for backstories, the bumpkin had heard plenty of them and often purposely ignored some just so that he made himself feel better about his own background. Finally he was led to responding to the inquiry. “Oh, well, I’s a fan of fishing myself and I like to read every once and awhile. Ah! And I like swimmin’.” This was true and where ever summer or the outdoors were he was not long behind.
Eragon clapped his hands together at the word ‘fishing’, feeling a bit of excitement grow inside his chest. “Right!” Even though he never used to really fish, hunting was something he was good at as he often enjoyed the stillness that came with searching and following a pray. If there had been more lakes around his home town he probably would have done a lot more fishing too, he simply had the patience for it, but alas that was not the case. “I have never really fished, actually, but I like the sound of that. And swimming, it feels like it’s been too long since I actually went swimming in something that isn’t filled with clorine. We should go to a lake in that case, how about that?” A grin soon covered his lips, knowing the water would probably be freezing cold even now but the temptation had already taken over and Canda had its fair share of lakes around just waiting for them both.
tommyboysawyer:
“Sho.” Tom’s eyes too wandered the vicinity and sucked in each precious moment of it as he hardly managed to stay still. Since the place was crawling with people it was only natural that he was attracted to them. He was an attention fiend after all and he had to internally fight with himself so that he didn’t grab the attention of the shop-goers. It truly was tough for him and he might as well of held his breath. The only thing to save him from a panic attack that only the awareness of others could soothe was looking back at the fellow who had dragged him along. Focusing on a single person like that helped him a great deal but of course he continued pining to burst out. After crossing his arms, he met eyes with Eragon shortly after he had spoken and a short wag of his head revealed that he had no specifics in what he wanted to look at. “Reckon we could just mosey around an’ check out whatever crosses our path.”
Mosey? The word made him lift both his eyebrows in a confused manner as he tried to figure out what it meant. Was it like walking around or something the like? Eragon had come to understand this man Tom was from another time and age, sort of like himself, but his accent was thick and sometimes Tom spoke in a slang he had never heard once before said by other poeple inside the city. It was hard to know just exactly what was propper English and what was not, as Québec seemed a mix of both English and that other language French. It didn’t put Eragon off, being curious since childhood, and it kept growing with each new person he met with a different story to share. None of the members he had connected with had a dull backstory, at least not according to him. “I don’t mind that at all. What type of things do you usually do on a day off?” With summer still in the air there were countless of outdoor activities to spend the day on, which was far better than staying inside for sure.

“Outskirts, sounds nice. And no I haven’t, but that sounds nice too.” John didn’t know about this town other than the docks, his pub and a few other places because he either walked by them or got supplies from there. This town had nothing much to offer him apart from those places, so why should he waste time in exploring. It made sense for the boy to know, he was still a young lad and they were always curious about things. His suggestion made John chuckle along with him, “A bed? What use would a bed have in a pub, lad? I don’t want me guests sleeping over!″ They moved at a slow pace, John wanted it to be faster, but the way Eren kept looking in through the windows, well a slow pace suited that just fine. “Are ya just gonna look at things, or do you plan on buying some of them?”
“You know what, I’m almost surpised you haven’t seen even the tinies bit of it. Aren’t you curious about this place? Not even a bit?” Eragon placed his hands on his hips as he gave the older a glare, a stare hard for him to keep going as it felt more playful than anything else. Of course this place was huge and John’s leg made it hard for him to get by. There were busses to help you around, but they could easily get crowded and the man wasn’t that fond of people either. “Such an obvious joke that ended up floating right over your head, but maybe if they did you’d end up with a new friend. Who knows?” He pulled a smirk, teasing John about his introverted side was something he would never stop doing. He respeted the man’s wish of wanting to be alone, but he couldn’t shield himself from everyone now could he. “No, if I start buying things we will be stuck here all day. I want everything and nothing at the same time, money makes you greedy.” Eragon ended it with a shake as his arms fell back to his sides. “You should get yourself a hat or something, trying on hats will never get old I’m sure.”
saphira-scales:
“I never had to walk on those awful, muddy roads like you did so I wouldn’t know. I guess you can speak more for it, but everything is so closed off around here. People walk around each other, they don’t talk or even look another’s way. It a bit of a shame, it can’t be easy to connect with others that way.” Saphira had never been in much need of friends or the like, as long as she had Eragon by her side. However her human mind made her wish for a few other relationships to lean on and the close minded humans around here didn’t make it any easier on her part. “How about we stare at that dumb screen first and then we go from there, I’m sure I have spotted a movie while waiting for you to come back home again. Have you heard about any good ones? I assume that’s the term used.”
“Trust me, these roads are so much easier to get by on, you wouldn’t have wanted to walk on those muddy ones. Then again, if we leave the city I can show you how bad things were. It’s awful being stuck on the ground all the time, I miss the air. It really isn’t.” Eragon shook his head at her, putting a hand on his waist as he stared at a person walking by with a phone up their face. “I really thought people were more social than this, actually, seeing how close and open people were in my home town. But then again, it was smaller.” Saphira’s comment made him chuckle lightly and nod along, she was catching on just fine and he was thankful for that. “Sure, that sounds like a good plan. Heard about Ant-Man? People say it’s good, I have a coworker who watched it with their brother the other day. You’re doing quite good with that language skill of yours.” He nudged her shoulder in a playful manner, ending it with a wink.
jjohnsilverr:
John grimaced at the thought of being around people, they made him cranky. There was a reason he preferred his own company, it didn’t involve social interaction and that was what John wanted, in this world at least. There was a time when he was the life of his crew, cheering them up with stories and laughter, but times have changed and so had John. “I worry a lot, lad,” he said shaking his head. He had to give him props for dragging him out, that took skill and since he was outside, he might as well go along with the boy. John didn’t want to be the cause of his disappointment. “Have not, I bought antiques before but haven’t been to the shop.” Following his gaze, he nodded, “I’m assuming you want to go an’ have a look?”
“Don’t, this town is great! I’m pretty sure you’d love the outskirts of it, there’s a huge waterfall you can cross over. Have you heard of it?” He had been to each side of the town by now, making sure he didn’t miss anything of importance. The only things he didn’t try was the ones his economy kept him away from. Just picturing eating at half of the restaurants in Old Town made his mouth drool. “Yes, what else? You’re not very good at sharing activities so... I’m pretty sure you can find something to put in that pub of yours, maybe a bed?” He smiled at his own joke, making way around a couple taking up half the street on their own. Making sure John could keep up Eragon kept his speed at a slow pace, allowing him to glance over at the windows they were passing by.
saphira-scales:
Saphira tapped her chin, hurrying on with her steps to catch up with her roommate. She hated the fact that he was now both taller and faster than she was, it took away so much of her former charm. Oh how she would offer her scales to a day back as herself again. Burn a few sheeps, bathe in a lake and not worry about a thing in the world. “Old ruins? Why would that be a thing?” she asked, feeling confused. If you didn’t need a building, wouldn’t it be wiser to just tear it down? “We can go look at that, sounds nice enough. Do you like the theatre?” He felt almost a bit too excited about all of this. “Do you have to do any reading in there?” As long as she could skip that part, anything was fine with her.
Eragon shrugged, as he wasn’t too sure of why people found it amusing to stare at a couple of old rocks. “History, I guess, people like to know how things looked like in the past. I mean, there’s quite the change compared to our home and now, don’t you think? Cold, harsh... depending on where you live.” He dragged his foot over the pavement. “Like we didn’t have set roads like these, shame since this is easier to walk on.” At her next question he shook his head, turning around to face her. “Unless we watch something foreign, there’s no reading so don’t worry. There’s two types: one playing on this big screen, like the TV but bigger, the other is a live peformance. You are free to pick and I’ll take you there.” He ended it with a nod, calculating the distance between the cinema and here while he waited for an answer.
jjohnsilverr:
John quickly stepped back narrowly avoiding being hit as the boy threw his hands in the air. “Eh, it’s alright I suppose.” John scanned the area and groaned to himself, places like this were people packed the streets were not his thing. He much preferred the gritty and quiet of his pub than the bright and bustling outdoors. He didn’t know how the boy had managed to convince him to go outside but somehow he had, and here they were standing on the sidewalk watching shoppers stream in and out through shops. John looked back at the boy and shrugged nonchalantly, “Not particularly. Countless stuff? Don’t tell me you plan on counting them all, we’ll be here forever and a day if ya did.”
Eragon casually waved his hand in the air at John’s remark, before allowing it to fall closer to his body. It had been a challenge to talk John into a walk away from that grim pub of his, but he had a great feeling it was all going to be worth it in the end; John just didn’t know it yet. The man basically lived inside his pub, which wasn’t something completely new to him as many villangers tended to do that to save room. However, things seemed different here now than then, and he was going to make John understand he was missing out on a great adventure across the city. Sometimes just a simple walk was enough, even if it wasn’t the open sea John was used to. “Ah but I couldn! Though, I’d like to do some of it too so don’t worry. Have you ever been to an antique shop before?” He nodded upwards on the street. “There’s one only two minutes away from here.”
saphira-scales:
Saphira let out a grunt as an answer, eyes peering through the mass of people coming their way out and in of these stores. It wasn’t often she decided to take a look around town, mostly seeing as her reading skills were a bit… off. She knew a few words and letters, what to look for and what not, but it didn’t get her very far and thus she kept to the places she belonged. However, when having Eragon with her it was another story as he was fully capable of going right and left without having to worry a bit. Saphira jumped to the left once Eragon’s arm came swinging and she gave him a stern stare, only to later shake her head and focus up front. “Like what things? You know I’m not as fluent with this city as you are but… maybe we can look at something fun?” She decided to pull him a smile, his cheerful attitude winning her over.
Something fun? There were tons of fun things to do in old Québec, and the thought alone made him scratch his chin as he kept walking forward with Saphira by his side. “Well that depends on what type of fun. They have a museums up ahead, a few restaurants, we could go to the park, old ruins... or we could just jump in between the shops around here and look at ugly clothes, that always beats it.” Eragon shrugged and placed his hands inside his pockets, feeling the plastic candy wraps against his fingers. It was still odd to him to see Saphira this way, but he was no one to complain as he was simply just happy about having her with him. The more the two of them could do together, the better. “Oh and the theatre!” he quickly added, “or the cinema, each on their own.”
“Isn’t this great?” Eragon put his hands out in the air, only missing the person next to him with an inch. His eyes darted between the stores at each side of him, crawling with people even at early afternoon. Rue Saint-Jean was one of those places he could wander for hours if time was enough, the people always caught his interest among the many objects hinted at inside big winsows trying to lure shoppers inside. Thankfully he knew better than to spend his money on things with no need, but yet his pockets had a tendency to burn a bit extra while walking by. His sweet tooth usually won, forcing him inside the nearest candy shop -- one he had just left behind him. Eragon put his hands to his sides again, moving his stare over at the person he had decided to drag along. “Something you want to take a look at? There’s countless of stuff waiting up ahead.”
[text]: Um hi! I don't know if you're still mad at me but I just wanted to apologize for my behavior the other day. It was not my intention to make you angry, or even try to educate you on your job. I don't understand where all of that came from :I
[text:] Oh no… I think I was just as much part of the problem. You really shouldn’t apologize for something you couldn’t control, but I’m happy you decided to contact me either way. Phew! It was straight out silly, don’t you think? So yes, I’d like to apologize too.
I am surely not pulling anything out of my ass – you’re clearly not listening to what I’m trying to say. This is unbelievable I… No, I’m not going to continue this conversation with you, I’m just not doing it. Have it your way, do as you wish. I’m not going to say hello to you in the hospital later jackass.
Hah, right you aren’t... but damn, are you finally going to stop? Great, I have been waiting forever! Please, the less I get to hear you rant, the better. I can barely keep my eyes open. My wish is to go away now, which I also will. Go educate someone else, bye.
Lucas tilts his head to the side, his face breaking into a smile. “I don’t care much for sympathy or pity. I never have. I appreciate it, yes, but it says nothing.”
He laughed, snapping his fingers again. “There was this one time too–” Lucas didn’t even tremble as he said this, and his voice didn’t break like it would have, if he was… him. “I told one of my teachers. They answered with ‘I’m so sorry you’re adopted!’ and I just laughed and nodded.” And Lucas was laughing now, at the memory, at every part of his life he was given sympathy for.
“No, I don’t need it.” He blinked, his smile fading into an actual one. The one of a child, the one of who he actually was. “It doesn’t matter to me.”
Lucas blinked as Eren explained to him what his life was, and he felt his face twitch, only slightly, as the other finally finished. “Ah, rather a harsh experience,” he gave a slight frown, brow furrowed. “I guess you can’t.”
And all of a sudden, Lucas was back to being himself (only, not really) with the fake smile plastered onto his face. “Well, I’ve had my own share with that. Home, worthless fate, history. It all comes back to this,” he pointed at himself, and it was hard to see past his smiling mask, how actually broken he was. “We’re all human, is the saying? Some of us, not quite.” Lucas wasn’t sure how to feel about that statement, so he just moved on.
“Like I said,” he continued. “Nothing really matters to me.” He tilted his head again, as if the male standing in front of him seemed interesting to him somehow. “I just, find certain people, intriguing. Then I move on, like I am now. I’m sure,” Lucas nodded solemnly at this, his real smile replacing his fake one. “That I’m taking much of your time, being selfish, and talking about myself like this.”
Eragon let out a sigh, tipping on his feet while he waited for Lucas to stop talking once again. Why did he suddenly think it was okay for him to spill all of this information his way? Hadn’t he already explained that he simply didn’t care? Thick headed, that was what this kid was and it didn’t seem like it was close to a stop. “What’s wrong with being adopted?” he asked, feeling his mouth frown. His uncle had clearly adopted him from his mother, and that hadn’t damaged him in any way. He had been happy, living with Garrow and Roran until things had started to shake up. Today all he had was Saphira, and even that was enough. “The people that decide to take you in, nurse and love you are the ones to call home kid. I can tell you that some parents aren’t worth even dwelling on. Some are just so greedy, want stuff they can’t have and refuse to see what they already own.”
Harsh? No, it hadn’t been harsh for him when he had heard the truth, but it had been sad. But his father had did everything to protect him, living near him all of his life; but at the same time... Eragon quickly shook his head. He was old enough not to let that bother him and his family had grown in more than one way snce he had found his path in life. “If you say so. I don’t know if that saying works with half of the Society but most have feelings and most have memories. We can’t deny those even if we want to.” Move on? That statement made him click his tongue. “There is no such thing as moving on from people you have once felt a connection to. They are always there, in the back of you mind, poking you with feelings and wonders about your life could have been if they had still been around. It’s never that easy but,” he cut off, “I really do think we are done here. I really can’t listen to more of your sob story, I think I’m starting to get a headache.”
Everything! You are all about throwing away your life because of some stupid pride, aren’t you? Of course you aren’t… it’s impossible to talk to you right now. I’m not trying to tell you how to think, I’m pushing your head into the right direction. Do you know how silly you sound half of the time? Ah no that was– that was not my intention at all why– I’m just saying you spent half your life, more even, being clueless while I grew up with a father with knowledge beyond your farm life.
Where the hell did you get that from? Are you just pulling things out of your ass right now or something? I have never been throwing away my life and I sure wouldn’t do that for a job climbing some dumb roofs. No, it’s impossible to talk to you just... ugh, why do I keep trying. Oh I sound silly now, huh? Sure, sure, keep telling yourself that. And? I have all the information I need right now, when you gather and from whom doesn’t really matter -- don’t brag about how knowledge makes one more surpreme than the other, because it doesn’t.
