in 2017 the summer before i started college me and my friends were 3 weeks into a 6 week long bike trip and somewhere in rural illinois. and i got an angry call from my college admin office that i hadn't completed the "safety training course" that they give to all freshmen. and i was like ma'am i'm literally by the side of the road 20 miles from the nearest town. and she said well we can't complete your registration for your classes until you do the safety training course and you'll lose your spot automatically so you have to do it now. and the website will not work on your phone btw. so we hightailed it to the nearest town with a library and asked if i could use their computers

but i did not know before starting it that the safety training course required watching like 45 minutes of videos. the computers did not have headphones. and it became clear to me very quickly that the "safety" in question was about sexual conduct on campus

so i was sitting there in this tiny rural library being forced to watch 45 min of videos about how you shouldn't comment on your classmates' breasts and how not to get pregnant at a frat party or whatever on the lowest possible volume. with the librarian getting angry at me and everybody staring at me. afterwards i seriously considered going off course just riding my bike into the woods and never coming back

Someone asked me a while ago if I still had a photo of the worst sink I had ever seen while apartment hunting in Los Angeles. I assumed I deleted it so I didn't answer the ask and now it's gone, but as it turns out, yes, I do still have a photo of it.
