“I never said she lied. I just simply tell you that everyone seeks to gain something out of their interactions with others. Even friends. Nothing sinister about it, after all the reasons we are friends with people is because they make us feel happy to be with, and that’s what we seek to gain from friends. A sense of belonging and happiness.” He paused for a moment. A long moment. “If only I could remember what that feels like” he whispered, finally.
“And such is the power of effort. Although, personally, if something is supposedly too strong, there’s usually a reason for that. Body and or mental limits and the like. Keep a close eye on that friend, okay? Don’t let him push himself too far.”
Sean felt himself go rigid at Itus’ implication.
“Sunniva is an honorable woman who has earned my deepest respect. I trust her with my life and I trust her words. She has been one of my closest friends for the last ten years and I would appreciate you not speaking ill of the woman I love.” That was not how he’‘d meant for that to come out, but it was out now and he didn’t particularly care. “Any discrepancies in what she says is merely because she was young when any of it happened.”
“I wish there was a way I could, but there’s no magic in the world that can make doppelgangers,” Sean grumbled. His water could make shapes and do mimicry, but doppelgangers? No.
Itus shook his head slightly. “That’s not what I... nevermind. You’re taking me simpltaniously too literally and not literally enough. It’s clear that what I am trying to get at is going right over your head. I’m not trying to devalue your friendship or respect of her. Just don’t worry yourself.”
“I’m sure you can find some way to make sure he stays safe. Just think outside the box, got it?”
