Daryl smiled for the first time all day, “Hell yeah.” He didn’t like the idea of walkers poaching his hunt - again - but he and Eric were smarter and faster than any walker. It wasn’t difficult to find where the hog had disturbed the ground. Daryl waved Eric over to the tracks and started following them away into the trees. “Let’s pick it up.”
The smile was something Eric had never seen on Daryl’s face. It was good. Very few people smiled anymore even with the safety of a safe zone. At first Eric thought them to be ungrateful for what they had but they he grew up a bit more. He nodded and continued forward until he saw a little more blood, not enough to smell, but enough to notice it. Then he saw it. It was injured and there was no walkers around. “Let’s get it,” he said raising up his weapon.
