Say You Will (2017) Directed by Nick Naveda

âOh thatâs a good idea. Itâll be a lot harder to plan if we do it during the school year.â Iris agreed with a nod of her head. âThat could be really fun.â She nodded her head. It was definitely something Iris was excited about. After all she was a lover of travel and had always wanted to make it out to Hawaii. âI am not sure if my aunts would want me gone that long but I could talk to them.âÂ
Eric smiled when she agreed. He was getting rather excited about getting to go to Hawaii with Iris. He had gone once before, right before he had officially moved into his apartment in Santa Monica and he couldnât wait to share some of his favorite spots with her. He thoroughly enjoyed their day trip to Santa Catalina so he couldnât imagine how their longer vacation would be like. âI could potentially knock off a few days of sailing if needed, help make us go a little faster, especially if the wind isnât blowing the best. But if thatâs the case I might need to practice a bit cause Iâm a little rusty when it comes to that side of me.â

Wendy gave him a little smile and nodded her head. âThanks, Eric.â When he came back, she let out a little laugh, knowing heâd fully understand where she was coming from. Resting her elbows on the table, she cupped her face in her hands and let out a small little laugh. âI just have been working on this book for so long. And I believe itâs ready. I truly do. But I think that is what is so terrifying. If I believe that this is my best, and itâs not good enough, thatâs it. This thing Iâve always dreamed about is just⊠over.â
Eric knew that feeling and he knew that feeling well. Itâs exactly how he felt about the Nat Geo contest. âWell, I can tell you that there will be other ideas that follow even if youâre a little unsure about them. I can also tell you that you can always best your best as you grow and hone your craft. Iâm sure the book youâve written is fantastic. Itâs now time to share it with others so it wonât keep pestering you until you do. Would telling you my own experience help? It wonât be the best pep talk ever but it has a decent ending so far.â He chuckled.

Looking up at the sound of a familiar voice, Wendy gave Eric a small smile as he approached and let out an embarrassed little laugh, shaking her head. Her hands coming up to rub at her temples. âYou know, I just might.â She motioned to her open computer, glaring at the screen. âIâve been staring at this email for⊠I donât know⊠15 minutes, maybe? And I canât send it. Iâm starting to get quite annoyed with myself for it.â
He chuckled lightly, nodding. âI get it. Sending a piece of your heart out to people is frightening. But I know you can do it. I believe in you.â He grinned at her. At the sound of his name being called he held up a finger before hurrying away to get his order. When he returned he sat down across from her. âNow Iâm here to stay for all the moral support and to help wade through those writer woes.âÂ
Wendyâs eyes were locked on her laptop screen and her finger was hovering over the trackpad. She had been in this position at her little table at the Teacup for about 15 minutes. A few weeks ago she had finished her first official draft of the book she had been working on. She has read through it probably 30 times in the following days, and she figured it was as good as it was going to get without the eyes of a trained publisher. The only issue was she couldnât get herself to press send on the email to send it out to the publishers sheâs found. âPress send. Just do it. Stop being a coward and press the bloody button,â she said to herself, probably a bit louder than she had intended to, as she was quite lost in her own little bubble of thoughts.Â
Eric had gone into the Teacup to get a midday pick me up. Just a small coffee, knowing if he had anything bigger heâd more than likely be up far later than he wanted to be. As he waited for his order to be ready, there was a pastry in the display case that just looked too good to pass up so he was also waiting for that to be warmed up, he noticed Wendy staring at her laptop with a look that he knew all too well. âDo you need someone to press that submit button for you?â He asked with a chuckle when he got close enough to her table.
ericxkingâ:
âThanks Ariel. That means a lot.â He smiled. He honestly was in a really great spot right now. He got to remain good friends with the redhead standing in front of him. He and his girlfriend were in their happy little bubble, reconnecting and working on being an actual couple this go around. Now his writing is seemingly taking off. âYou got anything going on? Wanna go celebrate with the largest plate of cheese fries we can find?â
âOf course you know Iâm super proud of you.â Ariel pointed out.. While their love story may not have been one for the ages it was okay. She had found her person and he his. Their friendship however she knew would last a lifetime they were too connected for it to not. âUh hell yeah I wanna celebrate with the largest plate of cheese fries.â Ariel beamed excitedly. âThat sounds amazing.âÂ
Eric couldnât help the large, grateful smile that burst across his features when Ariel had told him that she was proud. He was not happy that he could make someone from Florida feel that way towards him but also that they were able to build a great friendship after everything. âPerfect! Letâs go!â He exclaimed with a chuckle as he motioned for her to follow him to one of the restaurants he had found doing his series for the paper that in his opinion had the best cheese fries he had ever had. âSo whatâs been going on with you?â He asked.
ericxkingâ:
âWell, we certainly canât have that.â Eric laughed, giving her hand a squeeze before letting go. Walking slightly ahead of her, he crouched down, bracing himself for when sheâd hopefully hop on. âHow âbout a piggy back ride home? Canât have your feet falling off now can we?â He smirked at her from over his shoulder.
âWell I sir, would never turn down a piggy back ride that would almost be criminal.â Iris giggled as she held her arms up so she could grab onto his shoulders. This night this wedding it had been an exciting and beautiful time and she was just glad they could celebrate it together.Â
Eric chuckled as he moved his arms under her legs so he could keep her steady as he stood to his full height and continued on their way to his apartment. âSo I was thinking. Before school starts back up again we could take that trip to Hawaii. We could leave after the fourth and come back early to mid August if we didnât want to speed up the actual sailing time. We could spend about a week there and then make our way back.â

âI am glad we got out of there when we did. I think my feet might fall off from dancing too much.â Iris laughed as she walked along with Eric swinging their hands softly as she did.Â

âI saw your name in the paper,â she commented with a smile. As far as she knew, Eric and her youngest sister were on good terms meaning she didnât have to hate his guts. âThatâs awesome. Congratulations.âÂ
Hearing a familiar voice, Eric looked up and smiled when he saw that it was Arista. "Oh hey, Arista. Thanks! That really means a lot. I'm honestly still not over it." He said with a chuckle.
