THE HUNGER GAMES

i truly believe that katniss not wanting to have kids before theres no hunger games was a rebellion in itself. her saying i never want kids in the open is a rebellion because if theres no more kids there cant be anymore hunger games. that i believe is the second sense of rebellious behavior we see in katniss the first is her hunting in the meadow. Both of these occur in the first 10 pages too not even in the games yet and katniss acts different then the rest.

i love how simple this difference is in how they see the world but its also something i noticed

katniss is such an obvious person who doesnt want to talk about things that mean alot to her

while haymitch is such a GABBER AND SO TALKTIVE ABOUT THE THINGS THAT MEAN ALOT TO HIM

Comparing Haymitch and Katniss' narrative styles is so funny to me because he's a yapper and she's a gatekeeper. He drops more lore on D12 in the first two chapters of SOTR than she does in the entire trilogy.

Haymitch is like "Yeah, so this person is related to this person who's related to this person and things are this way because of this and this thing actually came from here and this person is actually my best friend and also here's this extra tidbit of random info cause all my lore dropping comes with it's own additional bonus content and all my unnecessary commentary."

And Katniss is over here like "Tf do I care for if y'all know all the lore of District 12? I'm talking about my beautiful husband's beautiful eyelashes."

snow really convinced himself lucy gray didn't love him (after she wrote a whole song about him and tried to run away with him) and then forty years later told sixteen year old haymitch abernathy that dying in the arena would be dodging a bullet compared to loving a covey girl. top 10 situationships gone horribly wrong

Effie is actually not fanservice because she is important to the theme of propaganda in SOTR

Effie is 100% brainwashed AND YET she still hasn't lost her humanity. She believes propaganda completely AND YET she doesn't use it as an excuse to abuse people. Throughout the book, the tributes are constantly dehumanised. But Effie doesn't treat Haymitch that way. She helps the team. She's there for him in the launch room- which Drusilla and so many Capitol citizens would never do.

So there really is no excuse for abusing people, not even "I was lied to" or "i thought i was in the right" or "I was fed propaganda"

You still choose how you interact with people around you and how you treat them.

i watched this movie at age like 14 and i absolutely adored this movie and watching it as an adult i still adore it but how the fuck did i watch this at age 14?!

I first rewatched this movie a few years ago in my late 20s and i never hear anyone TALK ABOUT IT NOT ONE PERSON. its such a good movie too!! one of the most underrated films I know
