Crazy how the Capitol was fine with sending 12-18 year olds into the games, slightly sad when they had to bring out past tributes (some of which are super old), but not at all okay when a girl bears an unborn baby in her which could lead to the death of that unborn baby, even if that was going to be the fate of the baby in the future.

I know it’s because District 12 is old-fashioned and a lot of Peeta’s decisions were made based on survival. But it’s hilarious that Peeta lied about a toasting when he has:

The highest lie count in the books

Is the first character to bring up rebellion

Has killed people

Threatened and paid off Ripper to stop giving Haymitch alcohol

Pushed a Peacekeeper because they got too close to Katniss

Made his Quell showcase a provocative statement about Rue’s death

The boy has lied, fought, threatened, bribed, and killed but his absolute limit is letting the world think he had premarital sex with Katniss.

i'd even venture to guess that this is a calculated move on peeta's part, knowing the hangups of the capitol. maybe they wouldn't be scandalized by premarital sex, likely it's normalized. but a pregnant wife being thrown into the arena? that's an entirely different perspective. compare that with the alternative: a teen mom. look how america treats unmarried pregnant teenagers currently.

ok worst take i've ever seen in my entire life.

i admit, a tigris cameo could have been fun, but frankly i was pleased with how many others we got.

effie parallels katniss by only becoming involved with the games to help her younger sister. plus, with victors from other districts available (and, from what we know, likely volunteering) to mentor unmentored tributes, there's no way that responsibility would be handed off to a capitolite unless it were some sort of punishment.

maysilee and haymitch's friendship encompasses the gorgeous reality that is: not every alliance in the games is inherently romantic, even when the pairings are opposite sex, even when they've known each other all their lives. haymitch starts out despising maysilee and their relationship evolves into a beautiful friendship evocative of siblings, similar to finnick and johanna but you bitches wanted them to kiss too so i guess i shouldn't be surprised.

above all i am super appalled that thg fandom is whinging on about how the trauma of this man who we know canonically becomes an addict isn't living up to their expectations or standards of his loss. SOTR is great. grow up.
