ok. i had to look this up, because this seems just too ridiculous. and wiki does not disappoint: “… the hognose snake will often roll onto its back and play dead with its mouth open and tongue lolling, going as far as to emit a foul musk from the cloaca. Emission of cloacal musk is considerably less likely than in many other species. If the snake is rolled upright while in this state, it will often roll over again as if to insist that it is really dead.”

I want to point out this particular one is a baby. It’s still learning how LONG to play dead, that’s why it keeps waking up to check if it worked. It’s doing it’s best ok?

Im not sure if you’ll know this, but in the drama Legend of Haolan, some women have a hairpiece where there’s some sort of gold chain going down the hairline, connected to a round decorative piece in the middle of the forehead. I was wondering if this is based on any actual historical hair decoration

I haven’t watched The Legend of Haolan, but based on screenshots I’m assuming you’re referring to this style of hairpiece, which appears to be a recurring fashion motif in the drama:

No, this is not based on any actual historical Chinese hair decoration. While The Legend of Haolan is set during the Warring States period, a lot of its hairstyling is not meant to be historically accurate.

It's another example of the exercise of creative license that costume designers often take in Chinese guzhuang (costume) dramas, as I explained here.

Personal opinion: probably inspired by Korean drama and cheopji. For certain historical style they used cheopji to cover up the part line on the top of their head.
