Now I am going to get controversial.
It's more than just not judging people based upon ethnicity / income / religion / gender identity / quality of their teeth / whether they correctly use their or there or bare or bear.
Those in the privileged majority have the social responsibility to call out those who do discriminate against others. And discrimination is not always active, it very often is passive as well.

Virtually every fucking intern is white. That doesn't mean they were chosen for the color of their skin specifically, though that might have been a factor.
There are several factors that could contribute to that result.
One obvious one is financial class. Interns are poorly paid, if paid at all. Many aren't paid. If you are fucking broke from a fucking broke family, you can't be an intern because interns are expected to eat and bathe and wear decent clothing yet they are not given the funds to do that, so being an intern is something of an economic status privilege that only those from families with money can afford to do.
Yet at the same time being an intern opens up all kinds of opportunities to further one's career.
My niece - last summer she volunteered in Africa. She could do that because her parents each make more money by themselves than most most couples make. She had to PAY to go to Africa and volunteer. Yet because she did, that opened up all kinds of opportunities for both college admission and college scholarship. She as a single child of wealthy parents can afford to pay for college yet that same economic privilege is exactly what got her scholarships so she doesn't have to pay for college.
That's the kind of inequality that perpetuates race based passive discrimination and needs to be addressed, and if you are benefiting from that privilege while not fighting to end it, you are part of the problem - even if not racist yourself.
The other day, a #MAGA lover accused me of causing division in America and that if I was a patriot I would want unity and support my President even if I didn't like him.
Fuck that sh*t.
If I'm a patriot, then I see my fellow Americans as brothers and sisters regardless of their race, religion, how many toes they have, or what they eat for breakfast.
If I see them as my brothers and sisters, then I should love them as my brothers and sisters.
If I love them as my brothers and sisters, then it should pain me when they are systematically oppressed.
If it pains me when they are systematically oppressed, then I should want to fight against that systematic oppression and call out those who are perpetuating it - like Kaepernick did - even if it is my government doing it. No, especially if it is my government doing it.
To close my eyes and go to my happy place and ignore it is passive aggression against those minorities because I am specifically allowing it to continue instead of calling it out for what it is and demanding change.
Sorry for ranting on your blog.

No - not a joke.
Jefferson is a proposed state that would take 20 (or 23 or 27 depending upon who you ask) counties from Northern California and 7 counties from SW Oregon to create a new state.
While I doubt such a state will ever come to pass, I do think the proposed counties make a nice geographical area for a field guide - and it might get some sales just based upon the novelty of it.
Will take quite some time, but thatâs okay, it will be fun.
The lizards in these photos are Western Side-blotched Lizards, Uta stansburiana elegans.
I rarely am in side-blotched habitat, these are the only three photos of the species I have ever taken. The top one I believe is a male, the other two I believe are female. They are however one of my favorite species, and hereâs why: The species has four different genders we can identify. One of those genders is biologically female, the other three are biologically male.
Within the biological male gender, when they have orange throats - they are âAlpha Maleâ gender. They have large territories with lots of females.
When they have blue throats, like the male at the top of the photo, they have smaller territories with one female - but often work in pairs to âstealâ a female from an orange throat, and they work in pairs to defend their smaller territories.
When they steal a female, one will be bait for the alpha to chase while the other plays Marvin Gaye to swoon one of the Alphaâs females.
When they have yellow throats, they are often called âSneakersâ or âSneaker Fuckersâ - they donât have a territory but sneak into the territory of another male to mate with the females.
It also appears they sometimes pretend to be female and part of an Alphaâs harem to be avoid being chased off by the Orange throated Alpha.
Which gender they fall into is genetic, and some populations do not have all three types of males.
I would love to spend some time in their habitat photographing them and observing their behavior.
While there are historic records from near where my parents live in East Contra Costa, that population seems to be extirpated. I have heard they are still on Mount Diablo but in small quantity. SoCal seems to be where the healthiest populations are, and are where my three encounters come from:

One of the many reasons I respected Anthony Bourdain was because that man never went to the 5 star restaurants and all that bougie shit. Wherever he went, he made a beeline straight for the hood, sat down with them folks and never judged or thought of himself as better. He had a genuine love and admiration for everyday people and I respected the ever living fuck outta that. R.I.P.
