Do you have a favorite substance, or favorite substances, to read trip reports about?
That’s a great question…even though I have NO intention of ever doing datura because it’s essentially just poison it probably produces the most interesting reports for me, maybe because I know I’ll never have that experience LOL. With most psychedelics you are still able to differentiate the world of the trip from the world of reality, whereas datura trips blend in and out of the real world seamlessly. Datura seems to have the more in common with the depictions of psychedelic trips of pop culture than actual psychedelics in that sense. There’s also the common recurring trope of the disappearing cigarette in datura trips that I find fascinating. Why does everyone hallucinate smoking cigarettes that don’t exist?
i find all of these incredibly fascinating despite only ever having tried weed
I think its honestly really good for people who don’t use psychedelics or other more “extreme” substances to learn about them and be interested in them! They are interesting!! There are lots of substances I have no interest in ever trying that I still love to read about for the same reason I like to read about deep sea divers or astronauts: someone went on an interesting journey and brought it back for us. Ofc one of these journeys is vastly more stigmatized than the other despite both being inherently risky, which is another reason I think experience reports are essential for destigmatization and, for more addictive substances, harm reduction.
