The Mafin Soundtrack: songs that remind me of Marta & Fina
This is an ongoing collection of songs that remind me of Mafin - sometimes as a whole, sometimes through Marta's perspective, and sometimes through Fina's.
None of these songs are perfect matches, but each of them captures something that feels true to their story, whether it's the lyrics, the atmosphere, or a specific moment in their journey.
Think of this as a masterlist. I'll keep updating it whenever I discover a song that reminds me of them. Each entry will include a brief explanation, and whenever I write a more in-depth analysis, I'll link it here so everything stays in one place.
I don't know if anyone else will find this interesting, but I have way too many songs that make me think of Mafin to keep them all in my head. So I'm putting them here, and if someone else enjoys them or discovers a new song because of it - even better.
To kick things off, here's one of the first songs that comes to mind (1 to youtube, other link goes to the full analysispost):
Nothing But Thieves - Lover, Please Stay youtubelink
Analysispost
This song immediately makes me think of Marta. It feels like the plea of someone who's terrified of losing the person they love and desperately hopes they're not too late.
Anathema - Temporary Peace
Analysispost
A song about finding peace in the middle of chaos. To me, it perfectly captures Mafin's current journey: two people who have both been deeply changed by everything they've been through, yet still finding comfort, hope and a sense of home in each other.
Halsey - Lonely Is The Muse
Analysispost
It reminds me of Fina because so much of who she's become remains unspoken, leaving both her and Marta trying to navigate a love that still exists but hasn't yet caught up with all the ways she's changed.
Mayday Parade - Miserable At Best
Analysispost
It reminds me of Marta because it captures the fear that someone else was there for Fina in ways she couldn't be, while still choosing to love her without trying to hold her back.
Rosalía, Carminho - Memória
Analysispost
This perfectly captures both Marta and Fina's perspective because it's less about remembering someone and more about recognizing them after they've changed. Fina wonders if Marta can still truly see her after everything she's been through, while Marta is trying to understand the woman who came back, not the one who left. It's a song about memory, identity, and two people learning to know each other again.
Taylor Swift - You Are In Love
Analysispost
Their relationship has never been sustained by passion alone. It's built on trust, admiration, friendship and the quiet certainty that, no matter how much life changes them, they will always find each other again.
Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds - Into My Arms
Analysispost
Mafin isn't about holding on to who they used to be. It's about falling in love with every new version of each other.
Graveyard Club - Witchcraft
Analysispost
Their magnetism is inevitable. Their relationship is a choice they keep making.
