curios for the curious .
Sunday and Herta . @eruditeambition
The moment that box left the boy's arms, she idly started to pick through her returned belongings, slowly setting them out beside each other, before cradling the last object in her hand -- an oddly ordinary looking puzzle cube.
Even just being in the same room, Herta could tell the curios were MUCH more interesting than their prior states. Oh, how she loved her exchanges with the Astral Express.
"Curios can be many things. As much as I'd love to explain every grueling detail, you'd probably do better to see for yourself. And so..."
The Emanator lifts the cube closer to her face, twisting and turning it before lazily tossing it to sit a few feet from Sunday. The faces of the cube continued to contort, slowly constructing a mirror omage of Sunday right before his very eyes.
he had remained silent as he watched Herta , placing them all along the table , one after the other his eyes followed them , trying to figure out just what each was , but no idea came to mind until the last one .
" That's . . . one of those toy cubes , right ? I've seen some people try and solve them as fast as they can , I've never been able to wrap my head around it . . . "
or , so he thought , he should've known he couldn't really wrap his head around the curios present , he watched as she twisted it , trying to . . . solve it ? seemingly giving up mid way through , tossing it aside . . .
then , an all too familiar figure appeared by his side , by his face dropping , it was clear he was tired of seeing a second version of himself , but he'd be lying if he didn't say that the object wasn't . . . fascinating .
" Something like that is able to create a perfect image of myself ? "
he walked around it a few times to examine it , taking a second of silence as he checked , it really was identical .
" and this is just one of many of these things . . . ? "
"Only one among the thousand or so curios tucked away in this space station."
Herta stood tall as she spoke, more than proud of the hoard she'd amassed over the centuries. She drew closer to sunday and his duplicate, placing a hand over the false copy triggered the cube to start folding back up into it's prior state, The Genius' hand turning just in time to catch it.
"Curios are all special objects. Some extremely powerful, some the very definition of mundane. This would have fallen into the latter category before you returned it to me, it could hardly replicate a cup, let alone a person. Now, there's no telling what limits it might have before testing them."
Herta seemed more than pleased, wearing a grin as she brought the reformed cube back to it's cardboard homr before turning back to her guest.
"If you're still curious, I'd be happy to test these out with you around. Feel free to pick one. None of them should be hazardous, but be aware the realm of possibilities is endless with these."
The witch gestures towards the desk, beckoning her nameless friend to pick whatever caught his eye. She wouldn't admit it, but sharing something like this was fun for Herta.
