okay but also the leader of an entire planet called Planet Screwllum

literally freed other mechanical lifeforms from a previous campaign to destroy all organic life and continues that drive to free mechanical lifeforms from other's control and machinations

also a genius, #76 in the Genius Society in fact, which makes him literally genius as determined by (a) god

very polite and kind, also extremely curious and observational

also again technically overthrew another robot leader and has no issues about doing it again or killing for that purpose

"Question: Did you require assistance?" Screwllum places the books he was carrying down - polite although not required, as he can talk and organize at the same time, but again it is polite not to continue once starting conversation.

His eyes glow in the din of the library, and while he does endeavor not to be eerie to an organic being, the library was closed. Perhaps he had not locked the door to the small section of campus.

"Perhaps you require a last-minute text for an assignment?"

While they had not quite spoken to each other, he was aware of her presence in their world and this one, her face pinging all information he had about the Masked Fool.

"Correction: out from under the mask of Aha, perhaps it would give you a chance to live a decidedly different life? Avoiding the gaze and ire of an Aeon is certainly something to be noted."

"Confirmation: many other inorganic life forms, intellitrons included, take myriad different forms, ranging from fully robotic to fully humanoid, nearly indistinguishable." While he does not know what organic life forms, particularly humans, look like in her world.

But he can sit across from her in pleasant conversation well enough. Or, pleasant enough - her expression, organic in many ways, seems cross enough.

"I myself am interested in the idea of such modifications, but I do find it to be amusing to watch organic life forms parse out my expressions."

"Having tracked my location before, I can approximate that I was away from this place for approximately 20 days." He pulls up his journal on his phone, tapping his metallic chin, a gesture so human that he can't help but find his gears whirring in amusement.

"What do you make of this? The selection process does not appear to be cyclical, as I do not believe you have had an absence yet?" He tilts his head to the side, blue lights in his eyes flickering as he compiles this information.

Although, he does realize that he simply walked into the good Doctor's house, pausing and appreciating that he had not been stopped. "Good morning, Mr. Ratio."

"While many of my endeavors are to free other inorganic beings from mechanical slavery," he feels odd about it, bringing people to his planet, but they seem happier for it, once their minds become free from the programming that bound them, "My personal interest lies in the connections able to be made between organic and inorganic beings. Between humans and 'machine people'." If he could blush, he may! But he cannot, so he simply has a twinkle in the bulbs of his eyes.

"Question: are Lightners your equivalent to 'humankind'?"

"Question: who is your friend?" Screwllum leans over, gesturing to the small penguin with an open palm, instead of pointing. There is no indication on whether this fellow inorganic is sentient or not, but he does not wish to insult neither his fellow nor the youth holding him.

"Or, perhaps I should address him? Question: what is your name? And the name of the sir holding you?"

WHEN THE HAND IS HELD OUT, he had already concluded what it was screwllum would be asking. in the end, it was only natural for one to expect it at this sort of atmosphere. the only other reason would be for idle chatter, something the intellitron would have simply jumped into were that to be the case. ❝ Yes. Miss Robin has been doing a fine job this evening in keeping the entertainment lively yet agreeable, ❞ he speaks, praising her just a little and, in turn, being thankful that she kept some of the other, more unpleasant to his ears, songs at bay.

rather than wait too long, even with his plastered gaze down at the hand, he eventually takes it into his own.

❝ Very well. What would be the night without at least one dance? ❞ dull, though also peaceful in a way, too. though he cannot help but feel the pace of his heart quicken just a little 一 surely it was just the alcohol causing side effects after a glass or two.

Leading the good doctor out onto the dance floor - having observed such events both in the past and throughout the evening - he very simply moves them into a proper position, having been given permission to lead.

His expressionless face meets Ratio's own, and it clearly is something that he pays very little mind if any at all. Human expressions are fascinating, but they aren't the only way to gauge how someone is feeling, as he knows all too well.

"Although, this event has been fascinating. Admission: I have spent most of it watching the guests."

It was simple to recognize him. His plaster head on. Upon his new designated category in his circuity, with a more complicated label that simply translated to things he found enjoyable, this was among them.

Perhaps it was the atmosphere - he would jokingly blame the wine that he did not eat, or perhaps make a joke about oil, his mind whirred with possibilities for humoring his little humors - but he did approach his collaborator, holding out a hand.

"I believe Miss Robin will be starting her next set soon.

"Question: would you care to dance?"

"It is a strange sensation, to consider it 'fascinating' to be interacting with another inorganic lifeform." He is organizing his class notes, getting ready for his lecture. Professor Queen shared overlap with him, but he had been so busy with aiding Mr. Ratio with administrative duties, he hardly had time for pleasantries.

"But I have been away from my own planet for long enough that it has spurred my faculties to find this interaction 'novel'. Conclusion: there are not many of us on this island." It must be the case, he considers, as he goes through his memory banks. Even the non-human lifeforms did tend to be organic lifeforms.

SCREWLLUM'S DEDUCTION IS A SOUND ONE, he can accept easily. administrative assistance would be naught but a boon to them, though there was still a confidence in him that they could both manage well. still, he falls quiet, lifting a couple of fingers to cup his chin as he thinks. ❝ We could hire one, yes. There's also the option of promotion, were one willing. But even so, the students and professors would likely be concerned of a missing student... ❞ he muses through the options aloud, figuring the other would be more than content in hearing his thought processes rather than awaiting in silence.

regardless, there were many ways they could keep track, and especially with the confirmation that the other has put out thereafter.

"One would hope they do not become accustomed to it." Screwllum acquiesces, wondering just how normal it would be to the more permanent denizens of this island. The idea of open enrollment was more to benefit those who are more transient, but the school itself would benefit all.

As most public services do, after all.

"Confirmation: I would like to tour the school. We will be working there shortly, after all." He orders the papers in the way he had found them, leaving them precisely as they were - his memory confirms it with an image - before standing and brushing himself off.

"And none would be better to give the tour than our illustrious headmaster."

RATHER THAN PURSUE IT FURTHER, he simply drops the subject for now. after all, there would be no reason for it, though he does note that the other does not rescind what it is he says about missing him in turn. curious... he would choose to tuck that aside for right now, figuring it wasn't necessary to point out.

still, that leaves him questioning something, the smallest quirk of his brow hidden behind his bangs. for now, he goes back to focusing on the conversation at hand...

An amused part of his mind connects the memetic gesture to human socialization, and he can feel his own brain whir in excitement that he had nearly subconsciously participated in such a practice. Could he smile, he certainly would be.(1)

"Many would question why not hire an administrative assistant, being both an active professor and the dean. However between your mind and my memory banks, we can certainly keep track."

A compliment - two in one conversation. Perhaps he is flying too close to the sun, imaginary wings ready to burst.

"Confirmation - it would not be difficult to handle. I am looking forward to our partnership."

Note 1: He has considered remaking his face, but any smile he could make seemed far too uncanny. He could only hope that he can portray his feelings through words and actions.
