Hello Esca fans! Welcome to the Escaflowne Secret Santa! This is the Esca fandom's winter holiday gift exchange, hosted by @radical-rad1986, established in 2015 on dA. The goal of the ESS is to promote friendship in the fandom and to create more awesome fan content. And to have fun! Anyone who enjoys Escaflowne is welcome to participate.

We were very happy to see many of you sharing our love for the now 30 year old franchise! And it's not over. We all have busy lives, and maybe you really wanted to take part but circumstances didn't allow you to do it by last week. But rest assured, all contributions (even the late ones) will be shared here! You may share them when they're ready or just wait and prepare them for the second part of the event, which is planned for September 21-27, 2026.
Additional prompts for Part 2 will be revealed in the next few weeks.
No worries though, the old prompts are still good and can be used!

Thirty years ago, in 1996, you could have caught this on TV Tokyo, young Maaya Sakamoto introducing "a new show" called Tenkuu no Escaflowne, where she voices the heroine.
Four years later, in 2000, you could have caught this in a Japanese cinema; the full theatrical trailer for Escaflowne (the movie), a dark fantasy retelling of the story.
We will be celebrating the 30th/25th anniversaries for these two throughout this year, inspired by Japan, where it's being celebrated with a new BD release (here's the trailer for that), renewed movie screenings and a bit of new merch.
And we will be using this little logo for the related posts. Just to tie them together visually a bit:

Welcome to the Fanelian Archives. An Archive focused on The Vision of Escaflowne (天空のエスカフローネ), an anime original series by Shoji Kawamori that aired from April to September 1996 in Japan.
This year is the series 30th anniversary. During that time lot has happened and, noticing that fandom artworks and writings can be lost due to different circumstances, this archiving project was created with the goal of rescuing works from the fires of time.
"The Library of Fanelia" is named after the real Library of Alexandria parallelism. Fanelia was destroyed and its people scattered, the King misplaced and having to fight to regain the right to go back to the remains of the kingdom and work on bringing it all back.

My fan art for @riafunnel depicts a meeting of two royal families on Gaea. On a state visit to Fanelia, a younger Eries and Millerna encounter Folken and Van while walking along the Fanelian castle corridors. The two groups of siblings haven’t officially met in more formal circumstances yet. Therefore, they show their personalities to each other in a more natural and spontaneous way in this meeting.
