pixie’s just gonna wander through the camp, hands behind her back and
grey eyes never really staying in one place for long. she’s trying not to be
nervous but her bottom lip is between her teeth, being gnawed on. honestly
this might be one the very few times she’s walked into a camp, and not
gotten into trouble. the day is still young though.
the leader of the camp, lady with pink hair and cool tattoos, pixies’s certain
they’ve spoken before. maybe not for long but, eh details. all she needs is a
place to lay low for a little while, keep some of money hungry locals off her
back.
❝ hey there! so uh, quick question for you. got room for an extra anyone? ❞
“H-huh?…” Aven reached down and lightly chucked the thick piece of tree branch over to her. “You okay there, man? You look kinda… stuck.”
❝ i’m peachy, pal, i mean i’m a little stuck but it’s nothing. how are
you? ❞ giving a nod in thanks, pixie takes a hold of the stick and stuffs
in right on top of her foot. nice, if it didn’t hurt earlier it sure does now.
❝ can i be super honest with you? i have no idea how this happened
or how i’m gonna get out. ❞
❝ hey you, yeah you! can you grab me that stick? ❞ she’s got her foot
jammed in some rocks and for some reason thinks the stick will help.
pixie’s about as stretched out as she’s get and still can’t reach. ❝ oh
yeah, and please. ❞
Without a word, he tosses a pebble at her, beaning her lightly in the head with it. His face is playful, but…something is wrong. He Takes his sniper rifle from its holster slowly, and watches her with the same vacant amusement.
“I believe it’s time for you to go. ” he tosses his cigarette into the dirt, grinding it with the toe of his boot. He raises the rifle, pointing it with that same, blank look. It’s Savuk, alright. His face. His mannerisms. But every last memory of Pixie.. Jack has wiped it all away.
did he just... incredible, absolutely incredible. her face takes on a look of fake
offence, she saw it coming actually, so it wasn’t that much of a shock. although
at the option of her going again, a laugh bubbles up past her lips. ❝ you want me
t- ❞
fuck. of course, the prodigal android returns and he’s not right. internally, she’s
screaming. externally she’s gone even paler than usual. even the dark circles
around her eyes seem lighter. ❝ wait! just wait! you’re gonna shoot me? really,
you fucking asshole! ❞ cue a rock being hurled in his general direction. ❝ you! ❞
rock. ❝ fucking! ❞ rock. ❝ asshole! ❞ one last lowly rock.
she’s done yelling now, scooting back though? nope, not unless she can out scoot
savuk. who is standing up and runs faster than she can,
The human silhouette has moved out of sight, and there is not a trace of the individual. Several minutes pass, and all is quiet and as it should be. The robots patrol nearby, idly murmuring about maintenance and other tangent ramblings. A scent slips in, barely noticeable amongst the smell of oil and chemicals and dirt and any of the other less-than-charming smells that Pandora has to offer. It’s subtle at first, but after a moment, it becomes distinguishable. Cigarettes.
A few feet away, Savuk stands, watching Pixie in her crouched position. It’s very clear that she isn’t supposed to be here, but he finds her attempt at cover amusing. He takes another long drag, before exhaling and speaking in a quiet, smooth tone.
“The robots don’t take kindly to rock throwing.”
this is actually the longest she’s stayed quiet, pixie hasn’t even peeked
to see if the poor ‘victim’ has left. a thought occurs, maybe she should
just run and take her chances but there’s a scent, well not much of one
but it’s getting closer? that’s not right, she’s hallucinating again-
❝ ahit’syou! ❞
.
her words run together as she jumps, whirling around very ungracefully,
unsure whether to scold savuk or apologise for beaning him with a rock.
so instead she settles for pointing, from where she’s sitting. on the ground.
very imposing in her own mind actually. add a snappy response and the
image will be complete. ❝ and what are they or you gonna do about it? ❞
perfect.
Lies. Angel knew them oh too well, that and it was painfully obvious that the
other was snooping through her work. The siren wasn’t one to shout, but she
wasn’t exactly happy about it. Wandering over to said file, her fingers curled
around the papers. She’d definately go through it later to make sure everything
was there.
“Yeah, I er, It’s fine- I shouldn’t leave me
work laying around places, especially
important work like this”
❝ yeah, i guess but honestly who would actually sit and read through
some files that might not even have what they’re looking for? ❞ pixie
would and has in the past. slowly her hands dropped back down,
settling behind her back as she rocked on her heels.
❝ i didn’t see anyone else though, so your files are very safe. nothing
can get past an extremely skilled criminal such as myself. ❞
there’s a loud tink as another rock actually hit it’s target, bouncing off
the loader as it spins around searching for the threat. it was a good
shot, if pixie was one to boast but there was no one to listen. it was
probably a good thing she was alone, she’s been doing this for about an
hour or so and have made close to a dozen land. it’s kinda funny watching
them flail around, shooting wildly.
dangerous sure, most of her shield has already been depleted but eh, life
is fleeting as they say and the worst thing the robots’ll do is kill her. so
she tosses another rock from her shrinking pile but instead of the nice
metallic noise, it’s a very human ‘ouch.’ poking her head up, she notes a
very human silhouette. ❝ sssssssshhhhhhhh- ❞ ducking behind her makeshift
barrier, hopefully she hasn’t been seen. ❝ -it. ❞
Oftentimes, Edgewise’s work included operating as a contact for Bounty Hunters dotted across the Universe. So it helped for him to keep himself in the loop and updated on the interstellar bounty boards. At the moment he found himself skimming the local boards, Hyperion’s posts. The usual list of errants, defects, and undesirables crossed the the ECHO screen projected over his eye. He skimmed by them easily (bored, really). The same handful of ruffians that otherwise wouldn’t rake in much of a profit for anyone. (Though they would be suitable targets for new hunters, or people trying to make a quick buck.) Not anyone especially noteworthy, with wanted posters he’d skimmed half a dozen times in the last few days alone.

How long had that damn poster been up, couldn’t have been longer than
a couple days at most or so Pixie hoped. Though it seemed like a stretch,
this pair was the fifth lot to come chasing her and her stupid bounty. Although
she allowed her small ego to grow a little at the high price on her head,
very close to some of the Vault Hunters and a small smirk crept up her
face at that very fact.
Though it was wiped off fairly quick, a shot to the back of her leg had her
face contorting in pain. Fucking hell, it hurt even with the shield absorbing
the bullet, damn thing was on it’s way out and there was no way she was
replacing it. Too much sentimental value attached to it for it to be let go
off.
❝ You do understand that you get more for keeping me alive! ❞
Her sentence progressively getting louder, so she’s basically yelling right
in their faces. Especially given that they crossed the distance a lot faster
than she thought and now she’s staring at a couple of masks, seriously
why does everyone wear those? Are they handed out on the way out of
asshole school?
Pixie doesn’t even get to voice her thoughts before one of them takes a
grip of her hair and yanks her head back, up out of the dust to compare
it to the picture on the stupid bounty. A cry of pain is bitten back quickly,
so she can at least pretend that it’s nothing too bad but she’s actually
really scared.
Her heart is is thumping, threatening to jump out of her chest but still
she needs to think of a way out of this. If she’s not quick, then she’ll
be taken back there and even though she’s escaped twice, she can’t
see a hat trick in her future. Hell, she can’t even remember the first
time and the second time was with help from someone on the inside.
The painful tugging is released, mercifully but is quickly replaced by a
pressure on her back, a booted foot to keep her in place. They stand
and murmur together, giving her the gist of their conversation. Pixie
can hear them, deciding whether or not to kill her. Make the job
easier at the cost of a severely reduced pay day.
But for whatever reason, they had yet to tie her hands. Thank God.
Taking advantage of their lapse in judgement, her hand crept toward
the gun in her holster. Not wasting a second, she lit the first one up,
literally, he was on fire and screaming. Rolling off to the side the
other was the second to fall to her incendiary SMG.
Adrenaline dampens her fear, finally but it’s a little too late and their
dead but something possesses her to reach for one of their ECHO’s,
mostly not melted. It’d do the trick for now she guesses and sends
out an open message to the Hyperion bastards that started this.
❝ You’re gonna have to try better than that, assholes. I broke out before,
and I’ll do it again and again. You can’t contain me, I will escape you.
Every single time. This is subject 185 4921, Pixie to my friends, and
this is the last time you’ll ever hear me. ❞
“No, No no no, Don’t touch them-
That’s a week’s worth of work
in those files!”
Angel’s voice was quick and a sense of urgency was behind it. She had put
hour’s, upon days of her time into gathering that work. The siren really didn’t
want the work being messed up. Messing up her order.
aaand she was so close to grabbing one to sneak a peak at, frozen in
the act. pulling her arm back, she put her hands up in a gesture of good
faith and took a step away from the files. a totally innocent look on her
on her face. not.
❝ who me? i would do no such thing, actually, just uh, snooping to be
honest. it’s not much better but hey, at least i’m not gonna poke at
your stuff. ❞
Sledge couldn’t help the grin that appeared on his face; nor could he stop the words that came with it.
“Sledge no tower, and nobody sit on Sledge shoulders. Sledge shoulders no seat. They leg rests.” His tone took a dip, coming out a bit heavier and darker than before. You could just see the amusement in his eyes if you looked past the glass of his helm.
oh. oh? oh, okay then. an entire range of expressions crossed pixie’s face, with
just the one thing that stopped her dead in her tracks. confusion, disgust, concern,
intrigue, and even a little bit of fear. the tone he used was never a good sign, not
in her experience at least.
❝ uh, thanks but no. i’m good, not knowing that actually but y’know i’ll be sure to
pass that information to anyone looking for someone like you. ❞ thumbs up and
yet another fake smile.
❝ sooo what’ll you do if i poke it? not saying i will, ❞ she’s lying, honestly
pixie’s gonna poke it even if she’s told not to. just look at that face, don’t
trust it, ever. ❝ but it’s pretty cool.❞
While the much smaller woman wasn’t successful in her attempts at growing taller, it did cause bandit lord’s amusement in her to grow further and further; not the amusement he found in crushing things with his hammer or killing things, but still nice in comparison.
The strange woman’s comment somehow managed to reach him, despite the distance between the two, and he managed another chuckle at her expense, “Sledge no know. Never notice. You remind Sledge, though. Sledge have to watch step; no want step on little lady.”
oh ho! the short jokes rolled on, of course it was most likely that he could
step on her and do some significant damage. sledge, as she could only
guess was his name, had definitely started a war. tall verses short, who
could make the shittiest jokes about the other’s size. whether or not that
was his intention or not was a completely different matter, but pixie was in
it to win it.
❝ had a lot of things happen to me, but never stood on. i should be on the
look out though, maybe if i sat on your shoulders i could see anyone for
miles. unless someone already uses you as a guard tower. ❞ she’s gonna
get hit, isn’t she?
❝ you know what sucks about being so short? people can literally
pick you up and play keep away with you. also it’s not fun, it’s
kinda terrifying actually. ❞
pixie actually doesn’t swear that much, mostly it’s just when she gets angry. by that point though, it’s almost just a solid string of profanities. but when she’s not at that point, it’s not like she actively avoids using such language and switches it out for less offensive terms, ‘fudge,’ ‘holy christmas cake,’ etc. she’ll say it, but not very often.
