Some images from the photo portfolio I’m working on right now. One of my focuses lately is to improve my post-processing of photos, and I’ve really enjoyed starting to learn Color Efex Pro in my work. I’m also trying to think more on how I felt at the time each image was taken, and attempting to reflect that in the work more.
As always, comments, questions and feedback are welcome!
Our motley crew of rescues... pretty clear which one of the three is the most tolerant of the camera. Jackson is the tabby manx, Sapphire is the blue eyed pup and Celeste is the tortie.
I got some wonderful feedback from a professional photographer that suggested I needed to step up my post-processing game. This is a very rough first attempt, using a photo taken today at the Oklahoma City Zoo. The original shot is on the left, with the edits on the right. I suspect I’m going to look into some books and classes to refine what I’m doing even more, but I think maybe this is a decent first step in that direction.
A few pics from Sunday’s trip to the Oklahoma City Zoo, included the long awaited clouded leopard sighting! I’ve been going ten years, and this marked the first time I’ve seen one of them out. The first four images were entered in the zoo’s annual Capture the Wild contest. The bottom photos had issues for one reason or another, but I still thought they were worth showing so you could see just how close the clouded leopard got while I was by their enclosure.
A couple of “preview” images from yesterday’s trip to the Oklahoma City Zoo. It was a beautiful day to be there, though not the ideal conditions for photography. Also, red pandas are the least cooperative photography subjects ever.
In honor of both Star Wars Day and posting the Disneymoon Trip Report from Hollywood Studios on my web site, I thought I’d share a few photos from Hollywood Studios last September. Hope you all enjoy!

Working through some photos for tomorrow’s post on my site about our first day in The World, and thought I’d offer up a preview here. From Port Orleans to Downtown Disney and ending the night at Trader Sam’s, it was a fantastic first day this past September!
Sometimes I think we get so caught up in trying to make photos art that we forget they also exist to convey memories. I recently wrote a piece for my web site that went into the history of my wife and I’s relationship, and how that tied into our honeymoon at Walt Disney World. I realized I still had some of the items I talked about in it, so I decided to take photos. They’re not art, but they mean a lot to me.
Crasher and Spay-C belonged to me and my younger brother Scotty, respectively, and was the first transforming robot toy I owned. My original NES and Mega Man 2 led directly to meeting my wife in the early days of online Mega Man fandom, and when I moved to California to be with her, she bought Ravage(my favorite G1 Transformers toy) for me at Botcon 98. I’ll always treasure all three. You can read the story at my web site.
What’s this? The giant Disney nerd is posting photos from Universal before a Disney park? Yes, I’m weird in that I really love both(though I’m a bit more on the Disney side of things). The Universal parks, particularly Islands of Adventure, are really fun. And for a kid who grew up loving Transformers, the Transformers ride is a blast, even if it IS focused on the Bay films. Jurassic Park River Adventure is amazing, and Mythos lives up to the hype as a great place to eat.
Chances are if you visit this page for any amount of time, you’re going to see a lot of these guys. Red pandas are hands down my favorite animal, and I think they’re fantastic photography subjects. All of these shots are of various red pandas that called the Oklahoma City Zoo home at one time.
As my first post in this new site for my photography, I thought I’d kick things off with a little photography retrospective, starting with the first still shots from my Panasonic DV351 camcorder years ago, moving through the years and cameras until I get to my most recent DSLR shots.
In the coming weeks and months, I’ll be going through my photographic work and sharing my favorites, as well as sharing my newest work. Feel free to follow, comment or leave questions!
