Between two souls
Capable fighters all of them she was sure, if they only reached a fraction of Leliana’s prowess they would all be excellent additions.
“We shall send words to them if you are willing to disclose their locations, the breach threatens the world. We will take help when it is freely offered and sincere in it’s intent.” Esmald politely replied, she was always looking to swell the numbers in the rank of the inquisition.
It was hard for her to accept at times, how easy she slipped into the role of Inquisitor, gathering allies, seeking options, her mind was never far from their cause. She noticed small things about Sophea, like she was claiming to be a healer yet she had a sword at her hip and her hand never seem to venture far from it’s hilt. Just a healer indeed.
Esmald blink a bit curiously at Sophea’s next statement. Was she forever gonna be bound to service just because fate had chosen them? “I don’t know, tell me if you ever find out.” Seems like they had a couple of things in common, chosen for things beyond their understanding at a young age. Sophea said she hadn’t been kissed before going off to fight the blight, which Esmald found odd because Cullen had told her he had been in love with Sophea ever since they meet in the circle tower. Knowing Cullen he probably had been to shy to ever take the leap.
Sophea mentioned Andraste and magic serving man made Esmald upset, not noticing the melancholic tone in Sophea’s voice. Esmald’s face turned into an sarcastic scowl “Do you really think I am good Andrastian Sophea?” Turning her marked face to gaze at Sophea in wonder, she must not know much about Esmald if she seriously thought she was a Chantry convert.
“We do not choose our titles, you of all people should know that. My magic serves no one, it is simply a part of this world that’s been torn asunder” as if on a cue in correlation to her mood, her mark bristled. Esmald’s face twisted in pain a fraction of a second before she could master it.
“We did not decided anything Sophea. You joined us under false pretenses, you know this would happened if ever your identity was discovered. Was that not why you tried to keep your identity hidden?” Esmald matched Sophea’s questions with a couple of her own while keeping her polite facade up.
They had sent out missions looking for the Hero of Ferelden, dedicated resources to it, all of that time wasted as she had been walking among them all along. Esmald could not do that, it was selfish.
“Armed guard?” Esmald asked before remembering Cullen mentioning it. “You were abducted in our midst and we had to send out a rescue party, my commander left his post... Yes I think it would be wise, at least for now when the notion of your revealed identity is still fresh in everyone’s mind”
Exhaling deep, that had come out a bit more accusative then she had intend it to. She knew how love could make you do strange things, she did not blame them. It was rather romantic their story.
“If you dislike the guards we could have Leliana’s men watch over you in secret, but Cullen did not think you would approve of being watched over without letting you know you were... I guess he wanted to make sure you really were alone when you are alone together...” Esmald added, offering Sophea a knowing smirk.
