#Twilight #I love the meta narrative of the Volturi vs Carlisle #it's so juicy #like...this guy who was once their friend #accidentally becoming their biggest rival and threat #just because he's a dude with unbending principles and he has the charisma to convince others too #Carlisle just trying to make himself a little family #accidentally creating an incredibly powerful vampire army #through his worldwide network of friends #and while the Volturi have to hide in the shadows #Carlisle has found a way to live almost openly amongst humans #and in the modern world as it becomes harder to hide what they are #it's increasingly clear that Carlisle and his family/followers are the future of vampire kind #and the Volturi are stuck in the past and doomed to extinction #honestly that's the story *I* want to read #Bella's shield is just the final weapon in Carlisle's arsenal #that will secure his victory over the Volturi #the coming vampire war will be swift and brutal #and I actually think that's potentially a truly interesting and cool story #the ancient murderous vampires of the old order vs. the modern 'vegetarian' vampires who know they must adapt to survive #battling each other for dominance all while trying to conceal their war from the humans
