A lot has happened this February! As always, this month is too short. Even though it was a leap year and there was an extra day. While I haven’t been able to cross anything off my Resolutions List. I have been diligently working on two of the items. Number 5, Continue to save. Since it was February, saving was a lot easier due to a beautiful tax return. I have started to put $50 to $100 away as soon as I get my pay check. This way I can’t spend the money. Number 12, start a blog. I am still working out the kinks of this one. Hopefully, by summer time I will have much better consistency with posts and content for both Tumblr and Twitter. I am trying to focus my Twitter stream on Equestrian events. I should probably get a better mix going. But for the time being I am selecting a target market to the equestrian world.

This month I am hoping to adjust my weekday schedule to allow me to work out in the morning. So far I have been able to start getting up at 6:15am. My goal is to be able to get up by 6am and ready to work out by 6:30 to 7:30 and then get ready for work in 30min and leave the house by 8am. We shall see how well that works. I need to start going to bed earlier, but there is just always so much to do.

What a hilarious movie. If you have seen any of the X-Men movies, then you absolutely need to see this one. If you haven’t seen any of the X-Men movies, then still go see this movie. It is a romantic comedy with all the action scenes you could ask for.

Throughout the movie there is a steady stream of jokes referring back to the X-Men Origins Wolverine movie. In this movie Deadpool hit the big screens for the first time. However, this movie did not do Deadpool justice at all. A fact that the character makes well known.

To better understand the movie all you need to know is that Deadpool has a dark, prevented sense of humor and is known for breaking the fourth wall, which means to speak directly to the audience.

Good news to all deadpool fans. There is a sequel in the making. I, for one, am definitely excited.

This past weekend I went to the Tallahassee Museum of Florida History.

It was a very educational visit. I was pleasantly surprised about how much information they had and all the time periods that were touched on. I want to go back again and read even more information. While the museum is large from the outside the inside seems even larger. To completely get the full experience I would give yourself anywhere from two to three hours. It just depends on how big a history buff you are.

The museum is set up so that you basically walk through history. You can start from any time period you would like, but if you start from the beginning you are starting at the earliest date of history and working your way to the present. While I got turned around once, the way they have organized the museum is in an absolutely perfect way to make sure you don’t miss a thing.

One of the most fascinating collections to me were the Spanish jewelry pieces. It was amazing to see the jewelry. While some styles have definitely changed and taken on a more modern appeal, there were pieces I saw that could still be wore today and blend into present society. It’s crazy to think of the jewelers’ abilities to craft such fine pieces.

The exhibits stay the same except for one. The revolving exhibit changes about every four to six months. When my boyfriend and I visited the exhibit was titled Sand and Speed. It was Nascar’s history. My boyfriend is very into cars. If he could be a race car driver, then he would. So this exhibit turned out to be above reproach for him.

Overall, both myself and my boyfriend enjoyed spending time in the museum together. We will definitely be watching out for when the next revolving exhibit comes to town. If you have never been and find yourself with two to three hours to kill in Tallahassee, Florida, then go visit the Tallahassee Museum of Florida History.

This past weekend, I full body clipped a horse for the first time in about six years. Even then, I think I have only done just the legs and/or face before. While the horse I clipped looks like a rock star (obvs), there are a few things I regret.

First off I purchased a pair of Andis AGC Super Two Speed clippers from Big Dee’s Tack Supplies Shop Online. Very standard pair of clippers and I got them for a great price. However, when clipping through a horse’s winter coat I would definitely advise getting a much heavier duty pair of clippers.  

While clipping I had to stop to run to the closest tack shop in order to purchase a second pair of blades, because mine went dull. Also it took three days. One very dedicated eight-hour day on Saturday, about two hours on Sunday and another Two hours on Monday. Luckily I chose to do this on a three-day weekend.

Here are my tips. Scrub the sh*t out of your horse. You think he or she is clean? Think again. Scrub that horse like your life depended on it. You will be amazed by the amount of dirt in that coat and there could be hidden fungus you definitely do not want to find with the clippers. Then after you are done scrubbing, buy some conditioner from Dollar Tree and scrub the damn horse again, but with conditioner.

After you have done that allow your horse an hour of dry time then take some show sheen to his or her coat. Grab a CLEAN towel and rub the show sheen in as much as possible. You will most likely want to leave your horse in overnight and begin clipping the next day.

When you are ready to begin clipping make sure you have some sort of blade wash or lube. This will help keep the blades cooler and in better condition. If you have never used any clippers before, make sure you read about how your clippers come apart. You will have to clean out the hair that builds up within the clippers about three to four times during clipping. Also, make sure you have two pairs of blades for WHEN they get dull. Not if, but WHEN.

I also suggest getting a kick ass pair of larger clippers for the actual body of the horse. It will go faster. Or just two pairs in general. That way while one pair is cooling, you can be using the second pair.

Or if you only clip your horse twice a year. Pay someone else to do it. It is time consuming and some may say #NotWorthIt.

Valentine’s Day

While many people as they get older begin to HATE Valentine’s Day, I don’t think that will ever happen to me. I am a sucker for any holiday. And pretty much any reason to run to Dollar Tree and create goodie bags. For me Valentine’s Day is about sending a card to an old friend and families members. Saying “Hey I still think about you and I cherish all the memories we have shared together over time.”

               Yes, okay so the holiday has become slightly over rated. And overpriced. I was in Publix this past Valentine’s weekend collecting ingredients for a Valentine’s Dinner for my Boyfriend and the prices of flowers were indeed shocking. I bought him a bunch of flowers, because he got me a fantastic Valentine’s Day present. But as a woman, you can’t honestly say it wouldn’t be slightly romantic for the guy you have been crushing on to either buy you beautiful flowers, take you on a first date on Valentine’s day, or even just to receive a card? (If you said no, you’re lying.)

I agree getting married on the day may be taking it over board and that’s a little too much for me, but hey who am I to judge. I think Valentine’s day is a great way to tell the person you’re with that you love them and it’s a great excuse to go a little over budget and get out of your comfort zone!

Either way as an adult, I LOVE the holiday (no pun intended). Who cares if everything is overpriced and dumb. If the person you’re with makes you feel loved and special, then you should at least get them a card. Dollar Tree sells cards for 50 cents. You may be making someone’s day just by smiling and handing them a homemade card. It’s also a good way to encourage kindness and general compassion.  

Here’s my challenge for you next year. Buy a dozen flowers and hand them out to strangers wishing them a Happy Valentine’s Day. It will be surprising to you how many people appreciate the gesture.
