part of the fun of the south park fandom is the absurdity of its existence, and the way it thrives in spite of the target audience. there's a cavernous gap between the fandom and the fans (i.e. your dad) to the point that we're incomprehensible to each other. and while we're largely shit on by other fandoms, I do think the creations of the SP fandom are some of the best examples to use when defining "transformative works" especially in contrast to the source material.

but like, the current trend of cutting out huge swaths of the show to make it more palatable to enjoy and the characters more likeable, I guess I don't see the point? sure, we all joke about hating south park, but man if you aren't having fun and need to twist the characters into something unrecognizable to make them acceptable to like or erase others entirely, there's plenty of other media out there that has exactly what you're looking for without the fart jokes and tratt's goofy politics.
