- was born in queens, new york to a fairly well-off family (her dad’s parents were hella rich) - she’s the Middle Child of three sisters - has quite a ~Colorful~ past; she was the wild child growing up and despite being really smart, never really gelled w school- got in trouble for selling acid at her high school, but she got out of any REAL trouble w the help of her rich as fuck grandparents - is pretty close with her dad and her sisters, but has a strained relationship with her mom who has always had a problem with essie being Not Straight (she’s pansexual)   - tried college for a little bit- majoring in women’s studies n music- but then decided it wasn’t for her and decided to hike it to l.a. n see what kinda damage she could do in the music industry - she has an eleven-year-old daughter, alia- she’s the main reason she only been popular for eight years - she is a Good Mom - alia was the result of an affair w a guy who’s in the industry; he was married and essie broke it off w him when she found she was pregnant, he doesn’t know he got a kid (might send in a wc for her baby daddy bc i Love baby daddy drama BYe) - was lowkey addicted to sleeping pills but went to rehab for a sec and now is just a goddamn insomniac - she is generally very laidback and has a calm, almost hippie-ish vibe, but if you mess with her kid or try to argue with her about something she’s passionate about (does a lot of activism kinda stuff) then she will tell you off and argue w you ALL DAY- she not afraid of confrontation in the slightest - very in tune with her emotions, but keeps them bottled up - kinda bohemian and like ~chill~ vibes, probs smokes weed sometimes on the low
