i love being black🖤✊🏽
i heard somebody called for the queen…
So far in 2021 our Harajuku Barbie has released some tunes but let’s break it down!
First things first, congratulations to Mr. & Mrs. Petty on the birth of Papa Bear he’s 8 months old and so chunky & cute! Love him.
Nicki Minaj has been on a hiatus for a while now & we all missed the Queen! Absence makes the heart grow fonder right Barbz? It’s 2021, just know I’ve been riding since ‘07.. and I can honestly say that Nicki is in a better space all around! We’ve seen her Instagram looks, but let’s get into the music!
It’s been 12 years since the Beam Me Up Scotty mixtape has been released. S/o to DJ Holiday & Trap-A-Holics which features Lil Wayne, Brinx Billions, Busta Rhymes, Gucci Mane, Bobby V, Drake, Shanell, Rocko, Jae Millz, Gudda Gudda, Ron Browz, Red Café and Ricky Blaze. With samples by T.I., Rihanna, Sasha, V.I.C., DJ Khaled, T-Pain, Kanye West and Soulja Boy. This was ‘08-‘09 let’s keep in mind that Onika Maraj wrote her own raps!
Not many of you know this, but Lil Wayne discovered Nicki Maraj on “The Come Up” which was a DVD series back then. BMUS was recorded 2 years after and had tracks like “I Get Crazy” and “Itty Bitty Piggy” that still get played today. Though, us Barbz prefer “Go Hard” and “Can Anybody Hear Me” simply because it shows her range. Personally, my favorite track from this mixtape is “Slumber Party” and “Handstand”.
May 14, 2021 Nicki Minaj decided to say “instead of dropping some new music, I’m gonna drop my most popular mixtape to remind you that my old shit is better than the shit you’re dropping now!” and she released BMUS on streaming platforms that included songs like “Boss Ass Bitch” the remix by Ptaf, “Chi-Raq” by G Herbo as well as 3 NEW songs titled “Seeing Green” which features both Lil Wayne and Drake, “Fractions” and “Crocodile Teeth” which is a remix by Skillibeng. Let’s just say the Queen delivered!
Before we breakdown the lyrics to a few songs I just have to say this… Seeing Green deserves a Grammy & I will fight for it. In the public eye, people say that Lil Wayne sounds like C3 & honesty I agree. In their own way, the big 3 all ate in their own way and let me explain why!
Starting with the King himself Lil Wayne… his verse started with the lighter flick & inhale so you knew what was coming! Aside from him wearing a gat before a tattoo, at the end of his verse this man said “Nina Ross on my hip, the 44 is my mistress, extra shots extra clips ain’t talking videos nor vixens, just come & see about it bitch!” … please remember that this man does not physically write his raps. That’s all I have to say. Just come & see about it. Happy Anniversary to C3!
The Queen blessed us with a second verse and it’s safe to say that she is hungry and out for blood! She let it be known that she is the star in ANY room that she stands in. I’m not gonna decipher every bar for you just use your brain. All tea all shade. The female rap industry is very commercialized nowadays which is why Nicki dropped her old shit. I’m sure you’ve been on TikTok. She said “just call me Nicki cock the blicky the Minaj/ménage is silent!” lmao! Special shout-out to Papa Bear and the rest of Nicki’s sons.
Drake talked his shit on the track. There’s no way you can say he was the weakest link. His verse screamed luxury, but you don’t pay attention. Let’s not forget this is Young Money! He said “y’all boys get on a track with Onika Maraj & y’all STILL dying” & he wasn’t lying. Drake understood the assignment. I want to personally thank him for sending this beat to Nicki. Y’all weren’t paying attention to him when he said “trust it’s all fun & games until I wanna play too!” please take this as a threat. Certified Lover Boy soon come.
With the anticipation of both Nicki and Drakes new albums we have a lot to uncover. Until then stream Fractions!
