Chinese are very observing people. Weather it's the stars, energy, the body, or natural healing they have the best answers for everything. I believe that all Chinese over time look at themselves day by day on how they can become a better human being and understand life as a whole. This quote really makes me want to enlighten myself to really get to know the real me.
Simplicity, patience, compassion. These three are your greatest treasures. Simple in actions and thoughts, you return to the source of being. Patient with both friends and enemies, you accord with the way things are. Compassionate toward yourself, you reconcile all beings in the world.
Those three attributes are qualities to every Chinese person I believe. Simplicity I seen that throughout the whole country while I was there. The Chinese day by day way of life was simple from what I was observing. From a young age you learn that you have to study and excel in school to succeed in life. If you know Chinese culture they have always practiced patience. From various dynasties, cultural revolution, and present day five year plans just to name a few. After studying Chinese philosophy for some time now I noticed that most Chinese are very calm, loving, compassionate people. They love their culture and are always welcoming other people to show them the way of the Chinese. I'm truly blessed to have had the time to meet so many beautiful people and to fully experience Chinese culture.

The Chinese are very family oriented people compared to families in the United States. In China everyone treats older people with respect and honor. In China there's some wgat of a ranking system that goes on. For instance, at the dinner table you would sit down at the table according to your age or profession you are at the table. I learned that most families don't really travel as much when they have young children because they want to spend as much time and be there for their children. When I was speaking to Chinese students they were amazed in all of the places I been to in their country. Just to give you an example in the United States students want to go away for university but in China majority of the kids all go to the local schools until they graduate college. Also remember that that most families only have one child so when it comes to a decision on moving or going far for work they entire family has an influence.
The will to win, the desire to succeed, the urge to reach your full potential. These are the keys that will unlock the door to personal excellence.
This quote reminds me of Chinese students desire to succeed in their academics. It's amazing to witness the schools library packed Monday thru Friday at 10 pm with tons of students studying. Now that I'm back in the states I’m trying my hardest to follow the eastern ways of life to reach my full potential as a human being.

Never give up ! Even if you don't get their right away take your time and push everyday to get ahead in your journey. I can relate this passage to me learning mandarin. I have been studying this language for two years now and at times I get discouraged. When ever I do get frustrated I remind myself that I must complete this journey. This quote also reminds me of China's 5year plan. Its truly incredible how much they have progressed in the last 50 years. I can only imagine what the future holds for China and the impact they will have on the world.
If I am walking with two men, each of them will serve as my teacher. I will pick out the good points of the one and imitate them, and the bad points of the other and correct them in myself.
Remember that you can learn from anyone your best friend, teachers, and even strangers. I am blessed to have met and to have spent some time with these two individuals. Some qualities that I will take from them are leadership, humbleness, love, and knowledge. After spending a couple minutes with these guys you will know that they are true students of Kongzi!

I love these two quotes! For me experience is the best teacher I’m pretty sure that all of us learned way more about ourselves, Chinese philosophy and, culture then we would ever in a classroom for two semesters. Also I learned from the Chinese culture is to stay open minded, acknowledge that we have tons to learn in our life and everyday there’s an opportunity for self growth.
Learning without thought is labor lost; thought with out learning is perilous.
In school there has been multiple times that I spent hours reading and memorizing a text to try to grasp the understanding to only forget everything after the assignment/exam. Confucius would never allow this! From what I understood from Kongzi was that “To study something without understanding is a waste” &“To think without having studying or understanding is risky”. When I first purchased the book before the trip I tried to read the text and I couldn’t grasp the meaning until we arrived to China then everything started to make sense to me. This will be a quote that will stick with me for the rest of my life.

This was an amazing group that i’m proud to say that I was apart of. Everything from our chemistry together as a team, the we bonded instantly with the foreign students, and the way we overcame adversity throughout our roller coaster ride in China.
Everything has beauty but not everyone sees it. To me there's beauty in everything doesn't matter if its big or small some things may seem. take the time to stop look at things from a different aspect

Take the time to stop and look closer at everything you may see something more pleasant than what you previously thought. Pay more attention to your surroundings, things that you may dislike, finding something new in a person that you didn’t pay attention too before. Going to China I understand more on how the eastern world thinks, lives, and views on the world. During my stay I noticed the beauty in Chinese ways of life such as waking up early or staying out late to practice which ever language they are studying, Kung Fu, and Tai chi. #Daodejing
