Not sure if you answered this already, but given the controversial history of the creator (she/he/they who must not be named) of Quest for the Ink Machine, were there some elements from the original comic that you and nort decided to “nope!” out? Forgive me as I wasn’t aware of QFTIM until a few years back and even then I never read it since I don’t like the creator.
Well if you ever decide to pick up QFTIM you'll realize that almost none of our story is similar to the original LMFAOO
But the biggest shift from Quest to Myth were the Characters
heres a major rundown of the things we decided to discard versus rewrite:
I didn't mind Bendy's character in Quest other than him being a freak towards women, so we basically made him a normal flirt and expanded more on his flaws to make him feel less like an "everyman" trope and more like an actual character.
Boris was Twelve in the original and it brought up a lot of contraversial relationships with him and adults!!! and we just straight up didn't wanna deal with that!!! so hes an adult with a much edgier personality but we still kept his child-like empathy and morality.
Cuphead was a total edgelord in the Quest, and while i lowkey still love him like that, It didn't fit the character we like from the OG Cddwtd world. Also he and Mugman were the cause of the Ink-illness in QFTIM but we scrapped that in Myth. (sorry theorists lol)
Mugman was figuratively lobotomized in Quest (iykyk) so we COMPLETELY OVERHAULED HIM gave him a personality that matched the Cartoon as well.
Shelly didn't exist in quest but while we're on the topic, The Quest author really didn't care about writing women let alone writing them well, so we're hoping to remedy that with Shelly
Mickey was a CREEP but also COMPLETELY USELESS TO THE NARRATIVE in Quest. So we made him super important to the plot in Myth and gave him a more sinister character as a comentary on the state of animation nowadays.
Felix was a cool character in Quest but also was twink-ified for yaoi purposes in the og so we're figured out how to rewrite that while keeping the flare he had in the og. We also removed him from the main group but he's still a main character. you'll hear
Sheba had nothing but to be felix's friend in the og so we gave her a character arc!
Oswald was... sweats.. certainly a depiction of mental health??? His entire story was pretty overlooked and magically solved very quickly, and ALSO had no real tie to the complete narrative of the actual QUEST so yeah we wanted to rewrite that too.
otherthings we scrapped/rewrote:
Cuphead shooting Mugman
Where they find the ink machine pieces
Rewrote Cuphead and Oswald's depression
rewrote the Illness entirely LMFAO
Quest Illness vs Myth Illness = my fukin bad guys ToT
Theres probably more i missed about how we rewrote quest but heres all of the stuff i wanted to talk about at least lol
