are you being kept in a basement and only being fed motm and art supplies or something how on gods green earth do u draw so fast
I was kept in the basement and have only been fed YAOI, YURI and HARD CRACK with a SHIT laptop and a decaying sketchbook where I draw all my OCs doing silly dances for 16 YEARS!
jokes aside tho, I would say I draw really fast because I have time to just draw a lot and develop the understanding of fundamentals and build up muscle memory in my arm.
Like drawing fast isn’t really about speed, it’s more about how much you understand what you’re drawing.
From what I notice a lot of beginner artist or slow drawers tend to work from small to big, when really you should work from big to small. There's a reason why a lot of the first thing a lot of art class is to have you draw out basic shapes and lines. It's too get you used to brush control and drawing basic shapes.
Trust me when I say that a good 70% of learning how to draw is observation, that's why still life is a popular practice for artist for YEARS.
As how you can deconstruct something complex like, say, a cup, into simple shapes like one big cylinder and a smaller curved cylinder attached to the side, helps you improve in art way faster then copying an image one-to-one. As building how you UNDERSTAND things is more important then copying things.
Generally, the more you learn to observe how things are constructed from your surroundings and apply to your art, the more your art improves.
I'm not saying to like spend hours drawing boxes in different angles, unless you want to do that, but I am saying you should be more mindful and observant with how things work from your surroundings or other's art you want to emulate.
Even if it's just your usual oc art or fanart, It's good to explore in things you like to draw then having it be a chore you felt like you HAVE to do. Like next time you want to draw something, you can add some challenge like drawing background or drawing something in an angle.
And of course with lots of practice, it helps build your muscle memory into making more confident big strokes that helps with saving time as being brave to make big strokes and making a few mistakes is faster then making smaller strokes trying to make it perfect.
I learn all of these before I got into MOTM, which helps me make the silly slop you see on my blog/j
Which as how I can draw really fast. By like skipping a lot of the sketch and just go start to lineart or painting, haha. Tho, for beginner, you should not skip sketching, obviously!
if you do have more speafic question, feel free to ask!
