The Second Wave of Creatable World Dolls found in the Wild
So I was at Target on Friday (1/10/2020) and stumbled across a display on the end of an aisle for Creatable World dolls. I had only skimmed a post about them coming to stores, and hadn’t really thought about it. But there they were!
The main display had three rotating displays of three dolls in different outfits. Pretty nifty if you ask me.
There are lots of new things, but the one familar item is the Deluxe character kit. The packaging is slightly different now from the first... wave (is it considered a new wave?).
(a blurry comparison picture of the old packaging)
This doll (dc-826) was not released with the first wave (we’re just going to go with waves). It looked like there were three other price tags for Deluxe Character Kits, but they were all empty, so It seem that they are selling multiple of these kits. These kits are $29.99 USD
As for new items, they have the dolls sold without any accessories, save for undergarments and a wig.
dc-826 was an option with these ‘Character Starter Packs’. I’m on the fence about whether I like that they don’t come with clothes or not. On the one hand, they’re naked and you HAVE to buy clothes for them (or find ones you have that fit them), but on the other, it keeps the price lower, and you don’t have to worry about duplicate clothing or ending up with clothing you don’t like/want just becasue it comes with a doll you want. These dolls are $12.99 USD
There are also two new types of clothing/fashion packs.
The first, and less expensive, option is the Style Packs. There were a few different types. they seem to come with an outer layer, a shirt, pants, a bag, and shoes. Some of the items are very similar (ie. pallete-swapped from previous kits), some are entirely new.
There was the Active-Wear Style Pack (aw348)
The Rainy Day Style Pack (rd-065)
And the Summer style pack. (ss-255)
All of these packs were $9.99 US.
The more expensive sets are $19.99 and are called Everyday Style Packs. Their names do NOT change based on the clothing (Although they do have ID codes), and these outfits appear to be mostly (if not entirely) recolors of existing clothes. They come with a hat, three pairs of shoes, two shirts, a jacket, glasses, and three pairs of pants or skirts.

Overall, I’m ok with the re-colored clothing. I think it looks different enough that it feels like a new piece of clothing, although I can see how it would bother some people.
The final new item were Wig Packs. Each pack comes with two different wigs and costs $9.99 US.

h-231 and h-294 form right to left.
These colors and wigs are very cute, and I’ve always wanted colored hair, so I can imagine kids and adults will like these. however, I fell like having a wig that doesn’t match the color of the hair underneath with only exaggerate the issues with the wigs being obviously... wigs. Especially with the dolls who have bangs, to begin with, it will be very obvious.
I did a quick comparison fo the dolls these wigs will fit, in case you’re interested in just buying the wigs.
From left to right: You can force the wigs onto Liv doll heads but it deforms them a bit, they fit EAH dolls perfectly, and they’re far too large for Monster High dolls.
I’ll be sharing my thoughts on what I bought soon.
If I’ve done so I’ll include a link to the new post.

Dolly people who sew, do you use a special narrow hem foot to sew your hems, or do you make do with the ones that come with the machine?
This is what I use for doll clothes
(illustrating how to load the cloth into the rolly bit after snipping off the corner of the fabric edge–the raw edge gets bundled up inside)
and it made all of these hems
buuuut I got it in a lot of presser feet and I have no idea what size it is–somewhere around 1/8″/3mm
(and I’ve recently started using a larger version, that makes about a ¼”/6mm hem, for some of my own clothes)
I need to figure this foot out, since I’ve finally got my machine to start working again.
I hope everyone knows i think the surprise tube barbies are disgusting
Her current clothes are a minor irritant but someday I'll make her canon dress.

Noelle is pretty excited to see Susie again, and though she won't admit it Susie is excited to see her too. #Customdoll #ooak #artdoll #monsterhigh #faceup #fanart #noelle #deltarune #undertale #ralsei https://www.instagram.com/p/B6jQFBrjedS/?igshid=1o6wg44g15zr5
With Youtube's new rules, I'm not sure where Noelle will fall, so I wanted to share her, even if just for a time, so be sure to check her out (Link in my bio). #Customdoll #ooak #artdoll #monsterhigh #faceup #fanart #noelle #deltarune #undertale #ralsei https://www.instagram.com/p/B6gH1aQjQfv/?igshid=858h07gcidj7

My last doll process video for the year is live!
More of a rough, less polished picture. I've been working on figuring out how to make more dynamic scenes with my dolls. This is a scene of my Creatable World dolls, Danai, Claire, and Cody, hanging out and talking. #creatableworld #toyswillbetoys #agender #genderfluid #demiboy #enbysquad #dollphotography #toyphotography https://www.instagram.com/p/B5tRfPvjjpm/?igshid=1f25t8fn3or1i
I wanted to share more of the outfits I created for Totoro for the #afghibliswap. The dress is @dollightfully's standard dress pattern. The apron is a design I came up with myself. The shoes are based off of @walkercolours' Mary Jane T-Bar tutorial. I love this lolita look as much as the Kigurumi, and I'm so glad that I took the time to make both outfits. #myneighbortotoro #totoro #lolita #customdoll #ooakdoll https://www.instagram.com/p/B5qFzzdD5ZR/?igshid=2lmh637qng08
I realized thay I never showed much of Totoro's outfits. I spent so much time on them, so it seems a shame not to share. This is a kigurumi pattern by @requiemartdesigns that I modified to look more like Totoro. #myneighbortotoro #stusioghibli #afghibliswap #totoro #customdoll #ooakdoll #draculaura https://www.instagram.com/p/B5ptiamDxDX/?igshid=1panbcv61b714

Another Belated Review
This Time it’s Wild Hearts Crew
So I assumed that I wouldn’t be able to get ahold of any of the WHC dolls because there isn’t a Walmart really anywhere near my apartment. However… I stumbled into one a few weeks ago and managed to snag my two favorites of the WHC (I passed up an Epic Moves Bo-Peep for them. Was it worth it? keep reading to find out.)
Here we have Kenna Roswell and Cori Cruize. Cori was my initial favorite, upon seeing the dolls online, but I think as of now, Kenna might have become my number 1 (screw that hat though).
They come with these adorable little zines to explain their characters, and honestly, usually I don’t care about things like this, but I really do like these. They’ve got lots of info about the girls, they feel like real teens, and they don’t simply push more consumerism.
Cori’s headphones are held on (besides the plastic tags) by her hair. My Cori looks like not all of her hair got pulled into the updo in the front, there’s a chuck just hanging out loose.
Here’s a picture of her hair freed of all constraints.
One side of her head is molded plastic to look braids. I’m always a fan of something on the side of your head, hairstyle-wise. I just wish all of her hair was curled all the way to the roots. I know it doesn’t make sense if her hair is pulled up, but I don’t want it pulled up like that.
The dolls can stand up on their own, which is suuuuper nice. Like, y’all have no idea how happy and excited I was about this.
Taking their shoes off, I was excited to see that their feet are only slight accursed by high heel syndrome. They would probably look good in flat shoes and high heels. I’ll take it.
the clothes are of decent quality, at least in my opinion. They’re actual separate pieces of fabric sewn together in a way that is reminiscent of real human clothes. Although the fabric feels a bit cheap.
Removing the dolls’ clothing shows molded on bras and panties, as well as the dolls’ inability to sit up straight.
They can almost touch their faces, though.
Cori had some sprue issues though. (Is it still considered sprue if it’s not intentional?)
Here’s another close-up of the dolls, showing how I dressed them after the review.
Some notes:
Kenna is wearing her mesh shirt backward and her suspenders are hanging down. I’d like to make a little flannel shirt for her instead and I think I’ve found just the pattern. And I removed the hat.
As for Cori, I feel like she’s wearing two outfits smashed together. The jumpsuit looks great on its own. I think then I’d like to make her a black teeshirt and some jeans (or shorts? maybe a skirt?) to go with the jacket
Btw its not called spruce if it’s excess plastic due to poor molding it’s called flash
Yeah, flash is what happens when the mold isn’t sealed well–it used to be a sign that the molds/dies were wearing out or just plain weren’t well made, but we’re pretty sure that the way the hinges are inserted into the joints now is done in such away that flash is highly likely to happen, even in new, well-made molds. Yay Mattel.
(and sprue is where the different pieces cast in the same die hook together so the plastic can flow to all of them)
Thanks! I’ve since learned about flash since posting this. But that makes sense, that it would be from the poor mold process.
