Oh, don’t feel useless! I’m Mica. Pleasure to meet you.
Mica, that's an interesting name right there. Where are you originally from?
It is very easy to lose track of time. When I would watch movies I would look at the date on my computer.
You have access to a computer? Lucky duck, we don't get those in the cells.Â
Pleasure’s all mine. Yeah, I’m okay. It’s alright here. I’m already claimed so that’s nice.
Ah well that's...I mean if it's a client who is good to you then that's a good thing I guess. Still wish there was none of this claiming nonsense....wouldn't the resort make just as much money if people were all equals and had the freedom to do as they please?
I enjoy picking up interesting talents for the heck of it. Like, I can juggle.
Juggling? Hell, now I feel absolutely useless. Only thing I was ever good at was whistling. Name's Ethan, by the way.
Keeping her chin on her knees, she looked out at the ocean with a little grimace. “Tristan Rivers.” She spoke without a second’s hesitation. “From what I gather, he gets off on control. Especially if someone’s resistant to him.” She swallowed hard at the memory of the first time she’d ended up in Tristan’s villa. Doing her very best to keep the flush from her face. Then she nodded slightly. “I’ve met a lot of decent non-assets. Most of them are staff, I think, except Mary. But still. It’s nice to know there might be places to hide from the less pleasant situations.” She chuckled, a little weakly, though the name made her furrow her brow. “Y’know, I don’t know that I’ve met him. There was one man that I don’t think I got his name. Frenchman, I think. Lots of hair. Kind of gave me the same vibe of trying to remind me of my place, but then, I didn’t talk to him long so.”
Ethan let the name be seared into his memory. There was nothing he could do, he was utterly helpless when it came to keeping men like that away from Lily, but at least if he heard that name he could try and prepare her. A smile moved across his face when the girl described Marro. "The hair is kind of crazy, right? But it suits him...he's eclectic." He nodded. "Mr. Noir is complex...he does seem to get off on reminding people of their place...but he also has an ability to be unnecessarily kind. My...well I guess she's as close to my girlfriend as one can be when you're both assets...but her name is Lily. Noir rented us both, so that we could have a night together."
Damn..Â
You alright there, Miss? I don't think this is the best spot for a catnap.
"It’s better than a lot. No where, really. My…my family and I moved around a lot. I don’t remember where I was born." She shrugged loosely, pulling her knees to her chest and resting her chin atop them, glancing over at him. "You couldn’t have said it better. And that’s good. Trouble runs in my veins, I tend to get into it a lot. And I’ve already provoked probably one of the worst people to do so. He’ll drive me crazy if this place itself doesn’t first."
There was something tentative and frightened about the girl. Despite the wall of attitude she put forth, there was a hint of fragile shadow beneath her skin, and it made Ethan feel angry...angry for whatever in her life had made her that way, and sorrow that she'd ended up here of all places. "Who is it?" he asked. Not that he could do much about it...but if there were certain names to avoid on this island, he wanted to try and warn Lilly. "There are sick people here..in this place...and then ones that aren't so bad. You run into a man named Marrok Noir...he's a good man...don't get me wrong he's still a client and he likes to be in control...but...he cares about the assets more than most of the others."
Giving a slight smile, she sat up and shook her head. “Don’t worry about it. It’s actually a really nice thing for boys to be taught. I’d rather have to tell someone once, if it means they were raised with respect. It’s not something I’ve seen very often.” She mimicked him unintentionally, running her hand back through her hair. “If I’m not fighting back I’ve been physically stopped from doing so. But that seems to actually make people want more.” Not completely true, she could be broken and she knew it. She wasn’t gonna let that happen, though.
"Southern upbringing isn't perfect but I suppose it has it's upsides. Where are you from?" Ethan sat next to the girl, long limbs relaxed and his hands against his knees. His face was seriously, almost morphed into a grimace because he knew she was right. All the fighting only got most of the people here all sorts of aroused. "I suppose they like a challenge...it gives them a power high to think they can beat you down when you fight. I've lucked out so far...been able to keep my nose down and stay out of trouble."
Well I found my costume for halloween..
Halloween...shit...I forgot that was coming up. Easy to lose track of time here.
She rolled her head to the side to look at him. “Ma’am makes me feel much older than my twenty-one. Call me Fiona. And it would seem that way. Not sure what the point of having us go insane is, though.”
Ethan shuffled and put a hand in his pocket. "Ah, my apologies, you'd think I'd learn by now to cut out the ma'am, but I'm southern bred so it's like breathing." Â He sighed and ran a hand through his hair. "I don't think they want us going completely insane...that's why they have a psychologist on staff. They want to break us enough that we don't fight back, but they want us to still be appealing products up for sale."
"I’m starting to wonder if the fucking goal is to drive us all insane." She was talking mostly to herself, but.
That's probably one of the goals, ma'am. I think they like to imprison us psychologically as much as physically.
Yeah, I’m new. A few weeks or so. I’m Augustus…
Augustus...nice to meet you. I'm Ethan. You settling in okay...this place can be a bit intense.
Thanks! It’s fun to do.
Are you a gymnast or do you just enjoy picking up interesting talents for the fun of it?
It’s a beautiful night for a walk on the beach…
I'm sure it is, ma'am. I'd be enjoying it myself if we didn't have curfew at the prison.
Look what I can dooo.
That is...quite a talent...definitely couldn't do that myself.
Di-Did you say something? I wasn’t paying attention… I’m sorry.
No need to apologize, man, we all kind of daze off once in a while here. I was asking if you were new here...you don't look familiar.
