Winnie rolled her eyes, the smile still teasing at her lips as she turned them back to the screen. She loosened the grip on her pillow, determined to not look quite as scared. “Maybe I’m a fabulous actress and you never knew,” she joked playfully.
"You forget what my power is, Winnie. I can tell when you're scared." He gave a small laugh.

Dawn smiled. “I should probably go. I need to study.” She stood up.
Ethan gave a small, quick nod. "I should probably do that too." He began putting his guitar away, while Dawn stood. Standing himself, he turned to her. He held out his hand for her to shake, before adding in, "It was really nice to meet you."

Winnie reluctantly looked up from Ethan’s shoulder, peeking to see if the scene was over. Ethan’s comment got him a light slap to the very arm she had removed her head from. “I’m not scared!” she said defensively. Winnie didn’t have much of a tolerance for even the least scariest of movies, so even a startle scene was enough to get her heart racing.
"Hey!" he laughed as he spoke, having not expected the slap to the arm. "You could have fooled me." A smile stayed on his face as he turned his eyes back to the screen.

Dawn nodded. “I guess that’s what friends are for. To keep life interesting.”
There was an awkward silence, as Ethan now concentrated on the strings that his fingers were plucking. He didn't know what else to do say, or do.

“No!” She said defensively a little too quickly. “Okay, maybe a little.” She confessed, but refused to meet his eye. Instead she kept her eyes on the screen and casually snacked. It wasn’t until the first startle scene happened that Winnie really jumped, hiding her face in Ethan’s shoulder, death grip on the pillow.
Ethan couldn't help, but laugh. "This isn't even a scary movie." He had the biggest of smiles on his face though. She was hiding her face in his shoulder, which would have happened that they actually seen a scary movie. He then thought about calming her down, but figured she wouldn't want that.

His question made her think for a moment. “Yeah.” She nodded. “I mean, I’d love to be back at home, away from all this craziness, but I do like being here. Meeting different people.”
Ethan could only nod in answer, his feelings about the topic pretty much the same. "I don't know what I'd be doing if I didn't have my friends."

"Yeah." Dawn gave a sad smile. Her smile widened as she listened to Ethan play. The tune was happier and, somehow, made her a bit happier.
"Do you actually like it here?" he asked, curious. It seemed most students liked being at the academy, but for as long as he could remember, he'd wanted nothing more than to be normal. He wanted to go home, and live with his mother. Then, at the same time, he loved it at the academy. It was home now, and he had his friends.

Winnie giggled some more as she thought of the look on Baxter’s face. But she quickly shut her trap when the title came across the screen, meaning the movie was starting. Focused on the scree, she wiggled a bit, trying to get a little more comfortable. She snagged one of the pillows she’d tossed on the floor and hugged it tight as the opening scene played.
Ethan popped a few pieces of candy coated chocolate into his mouth, and began paying attention to the movie. Before he could full watch the movie though, he watched as Winnie got comfortable. He even smirked as she grabbed a pillow and hugged it tightly. "Afraid I'm lying about the scare factor?"

Dawn calmed down in a moment, and she shook her head. “I’m sorry. I don’t know what came over me.” She offered a sad smile. She hated lying, but she really didn’t want to explain.
"It's alright. We've all got something we don't like to talk about." Ethan continued to strum on his guitar, though this time the rhythm was quickened, and the sound that came from it was more mirth like.

"I don’t think it would help." Dawn shook her head. "I haven’t been able to sleep at night since I was sixteen." She explained. Memories began to rush to her head, and she practically started hyperventilating. She didn’t want to think about it at all, but when she started talking about it…
"Oh," he said simply. Now he felt a bit awkward. He wasn't entirely sure if he should ask what had happened to cause the insomnia, or if he should just leave it be. Suddenly, he noticed that Dawn had begun hyperventilating. He felt bad, because he was sure he was the cause of it. Lucky for her, he was able to help out at least a little. He began trying to calm her down with his power, but making sure not to over do it.

Winnie let an airy giggle slip, trying her best to stifle it with her hand. “Well, what where you daydreaming about?” she asked curiously, though her eyes stayed on the screen as they previews started to play. Without looking she reached for one of the snack bowls but instead of grabbing the candy she ended up with Ethan’s hand. “Uh, sorry,” she said awkwardly as she pulled her hand away.
Ethan blushed, when asked what he'd been daydreaming about. He didn't want to tell her that he'd been daydreaming about her. "I can't really remember now, but the look Doctor Baxter gave me, I'm almost too afraid to do it again." That's when her hand accidentally found his as she was no doubt aiming for one of the snack bowls. His blush deepened. For a moment, his heart beat picked up, but it subsided when she removed her hand from his. "It's alright."

Dawn laughed. “You’d be surprised how often I can sleep.” Just not at night. She shook her head at the thought. Never at night.
"You should probably see the nurse, or maybe even Doctor Baxter. Can't you sleep at night?"

Dawn shrugged, her mind not really with her body. “I don’t know. I might have been sleeping.” She halfway joked, though she knew it could be a serious possibility. “I only came to this school a few years ago anyway.”
Ethan gave a small chuckle, "That must be it. Though, I can't imagine it's easy sleeping around Red."

Winnie nodded, handing him what he asked for but not before she snagged a couple of m&m’s and popped them in her mouth. She hit play on the remote and waited for the movie to start. It was a bit to quite for her liking so she racked her brain for something they should talk about. But it was like her mind was blank. “So….how are classes?” Classes, really Winnie, she mused, like he really wants to talk about classes.
Classes? She really wanted to talk about classes while they were about to watch a movie? "They're..okay. I guess. I started daydreaming in Doctor Baxter's class the other day. It was pretty embarrassing."
