"Trump is good at teaching, but he’s just so…stern. I’d prefer him over Sweets though. He’s a little less creepy." Scarlett then finished off her plum, and grabbed an apple. She polished it on her skirt, before taking a large bite from it.

Winnie nodded "Anyone is better than Sweets," half laughing at her own statement. Sure, some of the other teachers where strict or gave a ton of homework but none where as bad as Sweets, not even close. "Yeah, he's always so serious." she added with another nod. She never felt like she could be herself around him.

"Thanks." Dawn chuckled. "I’ll let you know if I ever do." She smiled, knowing she probably wouldn’t ever ask. If she did, it would only be for something very important.

Winnie smiled, knowing by the girl's tone that it might never happen, not that that was a problem of course. She too dipped her feet into the cool water, wiggling her toes. Part of her wanted to jump in, swim around in the calm water, but she knew she wouldn't want to walk back to her room dripping wet so she restrained herself.

Hearing the familiar voice of her step-sister coming from behind, Queenie turned and was greeted with the sight of Winifred. “Ah, just the ugly duckling I was looking for.” Her words were harsh, but she didn’t care. “I found something among my things, that I thought you might…like.”

Winnie scrunched her face, her sister was always a bit rough around the edges. She liked to think there had to be some good in there, as deep down as it may be. "A gift?" she asked with a raised brow, it wasn't like Queenie to give gifts. Her mind went back to the last gift she'd gotten from her sister, but quickly pushed if from mind.

"Hey!" he laughed as he spoke, having not expected the slap to the arm. "You could have fooled me." A smile stayed on his face as he turned his eyes back to the screen.

Winnie rolled her eyes, the smile still teasing at her lips as she turned them back to the screen. She loosened the grip on her pillow, determined to not look quite as scared. "Maybe I'm a fabulous actress and you never knew," she joked playfully.

Ethan couldn’t help, but laugh. “This isn’t even a scary movie.” He had the biggest of smiles on his face though. She was hiding her face in his shoulder, which would have happened that they actually seen a scary movie. He then thought about calming her down, but figured she wouldn’t want that.

Winnie reluctantly looked up from Ethan's shoulder, peeking to see if the scene was over. Ethan's comment got him a light slap to the very arm she had removed her head from. "I'm not scared!" she said defensively. Winnie didn't have much of a tolerance for even the least scariest of movies, so even a startle scene was enough to get her heart racing.

Scarlett sat down, and rummaged through the basket for a carrot. She knew how much Jasper loved them. When she finally found one, she pulled it from the basket, and placed it on the table in front of Winnie. “Honestly, Winnie, you should offer your little friend something to eat too.” Her tone was light, which made it evident that the brunette was joking. She then pulled a plum from the basket, and bit into it. “Who’s the professor for that sort of thing? They’ll want to know about it, I’m sure.”

Winnie rolled her eyes, as she was already pulling her bag onto the table to gingerly pull Jasper from his favorite hiding spot. She then sat her bag back onto the ground and Jasper on the table, the grey rabbit immediately sniffing out the carrot and begging to chew it. "You deserve it," she said with a warm smile as she gave his soft fur a pet. 

Turning back to her friend the brunette gave alight shrug of her shoulders. "Right now Trump helps me a lot, but they are still trying to find a teacher for me." she'd made several requests for a teacher that specialized in animal abilities but thus far they hadn't had any luck finding someone willing and able.

Dawn laughed. “I guess so.” She shook her head. “No. At least, I don’t think I can.” If I could, I would keep myself from dreaming the same dream every time I fall asleep. She thought.

Winnie nodded, gifts were often more complicated than one would hope, sometimes even having a downside. "Well, if you ever need any practice, my dreams are much too boring." she said with an encouraging wink. Though when she gave the matter some more thought maybe someone else in her dreams wasn't such a good idea, some of the things she dreamt about where private. "But..can you, I dunno, knock first or something." shrugging, thinking maybe that wasn't the best way of saying it.

Queenie and Winifred | Fairest Of Them All

Delicate, slender fingers played with the red transparent pendant at the end of the golden chain. Queenie Ainsworth walked down the corridor, her flowing dress rustling around her legs as she went.

The brunette wasn’t all that fond of being stuck at the academy. For starters, she’d been happy when Winifred had been sent here. It meant she was free from having a stupid younger sibling to look after, and also meant she could have all of her new step-father’s attention, and money. Now that happiness was gone, and so was her freedom. She felt trapped here, and it was made worse by the fact that she saw Winnie almost every day.

Then there was the fact that the measly town in the valley, had very little in the way of shopping. There was no mall, there were no expensive boutiques. There was really nothing there that she could enjoy.

Finally, there was simplest reason she disliked being at the academy, and that was because she’d been sent there in the first place. Just three years after Winifred had been sent away, Queenie discovered her own talent. 

Mirrors were her gift. Quite the irony for someone as vain as herself. A dark smirk tugged at her lips as she wandered the corridors. Her fingers still toying with the pendant around her neck. She was looking for her sister, though she still hadn’t come up with a decent excuse a to why.

Winnie, done with her classes for the day, changed her outfit and dropped off her books in her room. She didn't have much to do now, with Scarlett and Ethan still in classes and Jasper off in the garden somewhere, though there was plenty of homework waiting for her. But she wasn't a huge fan of being alone in her room, and especially not on a day such as this. The sun was out and it seemed every bird was out and singing, making the outdoors that more enticing. 

She was just walking out of her room, putting her sunglasses on her head for now, when she caught sight of her step-sister Queenie. "Hey stranger," she called after the older girl. It had been awhile since her sister had last graced her with her presence.

Ethan popped a few pieces of candy coated chocolate into his mouth, and began paying attention to the movie. Before he could full watch the movie though, he watched as Winnie got comfortable. He even smirked as she grabbed a pillow and hugged it tightly. “Afraid I’m lying about the scare factor?”

“No!” She said defensively a little too quickly. “Okay, maybe a little.” She confessed, but refused to meet his eye. Instead she kept her eyes on the screen and casually snacked. It wasn’t until the first startle scene happened that Winnie really jumped, hiding her face in Ethan’s shoulder, death grip on the pillow.

If there was one thing that Scarlett found absolutely great about the secret garden, it was the vast number of food producing plants. There was a basket that they kept there, so that they could gather some snacks while they hid away. Grabbing it, the brunette began to fill it with apples, pears, plums, and various vegetables.

Bringing the basket back to the small table they’d found and fixed up, Scarlett shook her head. “This is the first I’ve heard of it. How did it go?”

Winnie was already waiting at the table when Scarlett came back with some food. “Great actually, really great.” A hint of pride in her tone as she eyed the food hungrily. “It was different that’s for sure.” The thing about Winnie’s power was that each animal ran on a different sort of wave length almost, and she had to somehow alter her wave length to match that. Syncing like that required a sort of closeness that no one would understand unless they’ve experienced it. Unable to wait another second, the brunette snagged an apple and bit into it.

Dawn nodded. She walked over, kicked off her shoes, and sat down, sticking her feet in the water. “Oh.” She didn’t know why she was surprised by her friend’s question. It was an obvious path. “I can, uh…control and walk through dreams. It’s kind of strange.” She laughed. “I don’t do it that often. I feel like it could freak people out.”

Winnie nodded, remembering hearing something like that at one point. “But it’s cool, really cool for sure!” Nodding her head enthusiastically. “Can you mess with your own? Dreams I mean?” She asked curiously, thinking that would be even cooler. I know what I would dream about every night, she thought to herself with a private smile.

Dawn smiled. “Very impressive,” she complimented her friend.

Winnie flashed a shy smile "Thank you," she said with a nod. It wasn't often that she got to show off her powers, unless it was in a classroom environment. And then she was usually too nervous to preform. "What about you, what can you do?" she asked curiously, thinking this a perfect opportunity to ask Dawn what her gift was. In the entire time knowing her friend it had never come up, or at least she didn't remember discussing it. But then again, there where so many Grimm Academy students it was hard to keep their powers straight.

Dawn laughed as the fish began flipping. “That was pretty cool.” She said, complimenting her friend. “What have you tried it with?”

"Thank you, thank you!" she said with a half bow since they were sitting. "Well," she thought for a moment. Since first discovering her gift she'd tried it on many animals, both within and outside of school practice. "Rabbits, birds, cats, dogs, deer, squirrels, frogs, and now fish." she said proudly.

Scarlett nodded in agreement, as she looked over her shoulder. The two headed for the nearest exit, with Scarlett leading the way. It wasn’t like Winnie didn’t know where she was going, it was just that Scarlett’s legs were slightly longer.

When they reached the secret garden, Scarlett used her powers to reveal the hidden door. The plants were the only thing keeping the garden a secret.

Winnie followed right behind Scarlett, not even trying to keep pace with her friend. An excited noise escaped the brunette as she watched Red work her magic, revealing their secret place. No matter how many times she came here she was always just as excited as the first time. Something about the secrecy was so thrilling. 

After closing the door behind them Winnie turned her eyes to the garden, sighing. Now they could really relax, without worrying about who might be watching or listening in. "Oh, did I tell you?" she began as they walked more into the garden. "I tried my powers on fish the other day."

"It’s beautiful." Dawn smiled. "All of it." She nodded. "It’s nice to have cool running water." She paused. "Not indoor plumbing." They reached the stream, and Dawn sat down in front of it.

Winnie nodded, completely agreeing. There was something about natural water, or just nature in general, that Winnie found so much more appeal than the concrete jungle the world is today. When they came to the stream the brunette followed Dawn and sat on the bank. She gingerly removed the flats from her feet and set them neatly beside her. "Oh look, a fish!" she exclaimed happily, her eyes on the brightly colored fish swimming in circles near the edge of the stream.

With furrowed brows Winnie concentrated on the fish, reaching out to it with her mind until it was synced to her commands. Under her control, the fish began doing some flips out of the water. A light giggle escaped the brunette as she let the connection slip and the fish swam off. "I've never tried it with fish before." said Winifred, a hint of pride in her voice.

Ethan blushed, when asked what he’d been daydreaming about. He didn’t want to tell her that he’d been daydreaming about her. “I can’t really remember now, but the look Doctor Baxter gave me, I’m almost too afraid to do it again.” That’s when her hand accidentally found his as she was no doubt aiming for one of the snack bowls. His blush deepened. For a moment, his heart beat picked up, but it subsided when she removed her hand from his. “It’s alright.”

Winnie giggled some more as she thought of the look on Baxter's face. But she quickly shut her trap when the title came across the screen, meaning the movie was starting. Focused on the scree, she wiggled a bit, trying to get a little more comfortable. She snagged one of the pillows she'd tossed on the floor and hugged it tight as the opening scene played.
