BIOGRAPHY

Life in the Parksinson household had never been perfect -- his parents always doing what they could to make ends meet. His father drank his life away, never sober for even a second. His mom did the best that she could, however, she often catered to his father. Resentment grew as young as twelve, when Ethan was told that he had to get a job to help maintain the household. His mother's income could no longer sustain them as a family and therefore, he had to start to pull his weight.

Between school and odd jobs, Ethan was always told that he wasn't good enough. His father would remind him, every single day, that he would never achieve anything, nor would he be good at anything. While that may have broken some children, it only lit a fire inside Ethan, choosing to prove his father wrong.

Out of everything the young teen could have chosen to become good at, Ethan chose archery. With money he'd hidden from his parents, Ethan bought himself a bow with arrows and would sneak out with it and practice, day in and day out. It didn't take long for his marksmanship to improve and for him to not miss many shots.

Along with archery came metal working and then, hunting. Ethan became obsessed with every aspect of the sport and the hunt. At the age of nineteen, he was taking his own trips out into nearby forests, staying overnight, and hunting big game. It wasn't until then that he found out what the world really had to offer. Creatures that he'd only seen in his books and on television.

Ethan fell into the world of the supernaturals and never looked back.

Today, he no longer gives his parents money. Not ony that, but he has no idea what has become of them -- nor does he care. He's dedicated himself to the Fellowship and his business. Ethan refuses to be told he won't be good enough. His whole life is filled with proving everyone wrong.

While Ethan is most skilled with bow and arrows, he is also fairly accurate when utilizing other weapons.

He forges his own metal for the weapons he uses. He also offers to do it for the people in the Fellowship, as well. All others have to pay a price. How else is he supposed to keep his business running?

In his early twenties, Ethan was hired by Colt's mother to work on their ranch. This led to him becoming close to the family, and close to Colt. Eventually, this developed into a relationship. However, it didn't end up being sustainable.

Ethan is Colt's ex. The only person that Ethan has every really been close to feeling love for. Due to not really understanding deep emotions, it was hard for Ethan to understand Colt after the fire happened. He did his best to juggle the relationship along with being part of the Fellowship, however, it wasn't enough. In the end, they were driven apart.

She brought them there, she's responsible for this, for them. It's a responsibility she doesn't want as a fledgling, but it's hers and she needs to play this right.

"Enough!" She shouts over the parroting vampires, arguing with wolves and humans as they look around one another. "You are right, we don't know if any of us are who we say we are, we don't know these creatures, but if we lose our shit we're going to lose more people than if we just keep a cool head and wait."

If they waited for someone to make a wrong move, to be detected, and worked together to resolve the threat it would be easier. Yet, they were vampires, some of them hungry with humans in front of them, and some of them who hated wolves. "You eat those humans without consent or make a move against a wolf that isn't self-defence and I'll rip your heart out myself, do you hear me? I don't care what clan you are, or who you think you are." She had only done it once, to someone that had wronged her - Thao didn't know if she could follow through on the threat, but these vampires didn't know her, and she was hoping the threat would be enough.

Looking to Ethan, she offers an expression that she can only hope portrays an apology for how some of her kind were acting. Still, she walks to him and dips her voice, "Depending how long we're in here, these vampires might need volunteers to allow a few mouthfuls of blood, to save a bloodbath from happening." Her own control was... a work-in-progress. She was fine, as long as she had her over glamourised sippy cup in hand, but she didn't, not this time. If blood was shed and she was hungry enough, Thao wasn't sure she would be able to keep that trauma-induced perfected control she'd worked so hard to gain.

"Which wolf is stepping forward to speak for you all? That's the only way this has a chance of working." She asks, turning to look at the wolves.

She doesn't feel quite right, something just beneath able to break free after…there is no real tell of how much time has passed, just an undeniable truth that the wolf has been restless and ready to pounce at any given moment. As if the endless winter was aggravating it. She knows the others can feel it too, something about this silvered mirror of a moon has all the wolves on edge, born and bitten alike.

The stench of death that permeates the closed space, combined into a putrid concoction of fear that rolls off the humans in sweat and tears makes her tenser. Makes them all that much more aggravated and ready to start a war, something that will all roll down into gore and dust. Death in a place meant to ensure survival.

She's calming a younger wolf, another from her pack, newer, struggling when her ears pick-up what seems to be the one leading the vampires, warning them, she looks around in a silent warning as if telling her half of the room much the same.

This isn't the place. This isn't the time.

She feels ill-equipped for this, still learning. Still following the orders of an alpha, but when the vampire asks who is taking charge of the mismatched pack she doesn't hesitate to step forward.

"I will." She says before looking over her shoulder. "Any issues?" She has the wit to ask, receiving head shakes and weary glances.

Fake it until you make it, Barrios.

"You're right, we need to work together, grudges can be put aside. We have a common enemy. I've fought one before and it nearly took me and another woman out."

Ethan didn't care what the supposed leaders of each group were saying -- whether they were leaders or not, he'd appointed them in his head. His own group had their weapons drawn the moment they realized just how many there were around them. Ethan's own bow out and pulled back, an arrow he'd made himself ready to be fired.

The Hunter didn't care that the Vampire looked familiar. It wasn't as if he was friends with her, nor anyone else there. "Fuck that shit. Any of you step forward towards any of us and I will kill you on the fucking spot." He, along with his group, would not be giving out anything for the supernaturals around them. He wouldn't allow it.

Work together. That earned them a laugh from Ethan. "You mean fuck us over so that you all can save yourselves?" He'd never trusted a supernatural to keep their word. It was why he tended to shoot arrows and then ask questions later. "No thanks. I think we can handle it on our own." Whatever the fuck it was, outside. It wasn't as if they weren't used to fighting for their lives every single day.

Ethan never cared for what he was hunting. As long as it wasn't a human. Never humans. At least, not unless they were attacking him. Then, all bets were off. But today, that wasn't the issue. A human wasn't the one he was encountering tonight. Instead, he was watching someone that could easily escape his grasp.

A Vampire.

They were near town, which meant they could easily be seen. But what the fuck did Ethan care? He pulled out his weapon of choice -- a bow -- cocked an arrow which had been previously dipped in a form of poison, dragged his arm back and let the arrow fly.

Years he had worked to hone in his skill of aiming and hitting his mark. Rarely did he miss against most species. But Vampires... well, they were trickier than most.

He'd not aimed to kill, this time. No. He wanted to play. The arrow flew through the air, cutting through any resistance, heading straight for the Vampire's shoulder. He smiled, waiting for the sound of flesh slicing open.

"Hm."

The Fellowship guy's right - if its the hunter's gun, it's likely the bullets are silver. But the hunter's got one in the head. Without the tapes to see who went first things get complicated. "Assuming we should get somebody to clean this up before the locals get involved? Limits our time - who knows how long before somebody wanders in here once the sun's up."

Aelita's a hunter, not a detective - she can trace a werewolf, or identify a vampire's bite. This CSI crap though? Not her bag. "So if it's a setup, who set it up?"

She ducks by the other one's side, eyes where a test-drip of had burned the cold dead skin. "How many werewolf packs are there in town here, do you know?"

"You got a guy?" To clean up messes, he means. Ethan's done his fair share of cleaning at times, but he would rather not, if he could help it. Although, he can't say that he has anyone on speed dial. He then moved towards the front door and locked it. "I'll see if there are any other doors to lock." He muttered and then began moving through the spaces, searching for any other doors that might lead outside.

After a couple of minutes, he was back next to Aelita. "Your guess is as good as mine." At this point, he almost wished they had someone with a more heightened sense of smell to tell them how many people had previously been there. "Last time I checked..." He tilted his head back and forth as he counted in his head. "Four. Well, the more known ones, at least." He didn't know much about any specific pack, though.

"Do you know who that is, specifically?" He motioned towards the werewolf. He'd seen him before but he couldn't remember his name. If he knew his name, then maybe he'd be able to pin point which Pack he belonged to.

With all the snow and all the wildness, the Sweetwater's become a bit of a base of operations - what's normally a dingy hunter hideaway has become a sort of mutual staging ground. There's a conspiratorial sort of air that hovers inside of it. "You guys hear somebody whacked Fortney? Shot him, square in the head."

A few blocks away, in the diner, Aelita's expression's pulled into one of disgust - mostly because the stink is making her want to gag.

A heavy-set, flame-haired man lays dead and bloated. A few feet away, a known werewolf sits slumped against a counter, also dead. A gun lies between them.

She looks to the other hunter - a Fellowship man. The snow and the disappearances and all the wild shit has them working together for once.

"No video in the office," she says, and the equipment's all fucked from a fire-axe. "Old-man over there on the floor didn't like digital footprints I guess."

She looks between the two bodies. "You think it's as easy as they killed eachother?"

Ethan walked closer to the bodies, frowning as he squatted down towards the ground. His eyes flickered towards the gun, then the bullet holes that were in each of the bodies. Blood caked their clothes and the floor -- having pooled out onto the ground. He wondered if the two men had died from the bullets, or losing too much blood. His eyes dragged towards the werewolf. Or maybe it was the type of bullet that was used?

"Hard to say, considering where the two ended up." It wasn't unlikely, of course. But he wasn't exactly an expert in deciphering such things. His main talent lied in shooting and not missing. "If our hunter did shoot him first, why is there no defensive wounds? Where's the struggle for the gun? Because those two shots--" He motioned towards the hole in the werewolf's chest and one in the neck. "You and I both know that's not enough to put one of them down. Not immediately, anyway."

It was degrading, the way he talked to him, as though there were no memories between them. No good or bad. No friendship, no love, no understanding or compassion. It was unnerving, too, watching the other man move through the forest as if it all belonged to him; the trees, and the grass, the animals. A ranchers heart had once been his, too. But it had been a long time since he’d held a beating thing in his hands, hadn’t it?

"I see you haven’t changed much." That should’ve been his excuse to leave. To turn his back and start walking away. But he stayed, long enough to add: "Must be exhausting, Parkinson, not aging a damn day."

He knew another man like that, with a face untouched by time, but he was a better man. A better man than Ethan.

Colt’s features had softened with sadness, a slow but certain change. Even shrouded in darkness, he looked like that arrow had struck him instead. "Got yourself a good life, I suppose," he muttered. "Enjoy it."

Then he turned away, trying to focus his anger and frustration on something else.

"Hunting, you mean?" Ethan asked, one eyebrow raised slightly. "Nah. Not changed. Still get a thrill from the hunt." He offered Colt a smile, not bothered by what his ex had said. He didn't really see the problem that maybe the other saw in him. Ethan was perfectly fine the way he was, most of the time.

"Oh come on. Seeing me can't be that bad." Ethan said as he took a couple of steps towards the other. It was a pleasant surprise, seeing Colt, in his opinion. Being there, on the ranch, brought back good memories. Some not so good, but Ethan was doing his best not to focus on that.

"Colt." His voice softened. "I'm here. Let's talk. How have you been, hm?"

Are they thieves? She almost snorts out a laugh. Yeah, dude. She wants to say it, doesn't. At least - she is. She grew up with nothing. All she has is taken or given to her or both. Even the jacket over her shoulders, ripped as it is from the wolf bite mark - that's a pride and joy, a gift given to her by someone who's gone now.

But she shakes her head and laughs, good-natured. "Nah. Tangled with a wolf recently. Almost took a chunk out of me." She won't mention that it was Heron. If he wants to know, surely he'll have found out about her end by now. "I sure fuckin' hope not, cause if we got two transforming assholes to deal with, we're shit out of luck on a good day."

She leans her chair back on two legs. "Dunno what the fucker was, but I'm gonna find it and mount its ass on my mantle."

"Almost." Ethan snorted. "Good on you, not letting them take a piece." It wasn't abnormal for them to get hurt, but they trained heavily to ensure that they could compete with the supernaturals. They were supposed to know how to hold their own, especially if they didn't have anyone on a hunt with them.

News of something different -- something that wasn't a Vampire or a Werewolf, already put Ethan on edge. They could train themselves ragged, but if they didn't know what they were up against, how would any of them know how to fight it appropriately? "Have you told anyone else? Anyone done any recon?" If not, it was next on his list. "You could try, but what says any of our normal shit would work on it?"

"Yeah, feels like no matter what, we're screwed." Althea's face turns down into a grimace - trying not to think about who could be laying down false leads for hunters to find or why. Most of the times, they went about their business without trying to trick people. She glances over to his jacket as he points it out, and feels a soft, humorless laugh bubble up. Her own jacket isn't quite as worn out, but the back is still ripped and bitten up from her encounter with Heron.

"Pick one off a clothesline, dude, come on." The bartender heads back and slides her drink over to her, which she sips - the burn of it sliding down her throat sending a pleasant shiver through her system.

"Most of my leads on who bit Heron went fucking dead." No bite marks. Anywhere. "So I've been hunting vamps. Ran into this nasty fucking thing the other day and clipped it, but it wasn't like any vamp I'd ever seen. It skittered off on all fours and looked like.. a weird bat or some shit. I'm looking for that thing."

"A clothesline?" Ethan chuckled. "Are we thieves now, Althea?" He raised an eyebrow at her, the smile remaining on his lips. He'd be lying if he said he hadn't stolen something before, however, it was not common for him to do so. He grew up working hard for what he had.

"It wasn't a Vampire." Ethan pressed his lips together into a thin line. "Was it not a Werewolf?" He asked, considering they walked on all fours. Although, he trusted that Althea knew if it was one of the two or not. "Wait, a bat? Are they transforming into new things now?"

"Ah, see, you have to show it that it's not the boss of you." She teased, taking a drag of her cigarette as she looked up at the man. "You let the snow think it has the upper hand, you find yourself done for." It was bullshit to make conversation, but it would be nice to think that something could make this snow let up.

Thao chuckled, motioning to the signs in the windows regarding tattoos and piercings, "Could get you a flash piece, discount a custom piece, or even get you a piercing. Or if you have something super embarrassing you want rid of, I can do that too." She would say that she does more serious body modifications, but he certainly didn't look the type, and those conversations were ones that she saved for people who approached her about it.

"Uh huh. Sure." Ethan chuckled and shook his head. It was ridiculous, thinking and talking about snow in such a way. "Or maybe we should all just be a bit more careful because we have no idea what snow is capable of."

"Oh. That kind of service." His eyes flickered towards the tattoo shop entrance. He had tattoos, although, he hadn't inked his skin in some time. "And what's your art style like? Hm? I'm not going to agree to a tattoo if we might not mesh well together."

To Colt, all animals were friends. The boar that had just narrowly escaped an arrow to the belly didn’t know him, but he had just saved her life. Just like a wolf, years ago, had saved his. He patched up fur and bone for a living — it had always been his calling. There was nothing else he’d rather use his hands for.

His steps carried him toward the tree where the arrow had driven deep into the trunk. A clean, precise shot, strong enough to shake the snow from the branches overhead. When he looked up, snowflakes clung to his eyelashes and beard. He’d know that arrow anywhere, even in the dark. He’d know that voice, too.

The scariest thing, Colt thought, that a man could find in the forest was a ghost.

"You made a wrong turn and found your way back to my ranch, Parkinson?"

They stood on the outskirts. Colt knew this land by heart, like the lines in his palm.

"What are you doing here?"

"Or a right turn." Ethan said, lips lifting upwards into a grin. "Although, I should have guessed that you might ruin the hunt for me." Really, Ethan should have paid more attention to where he'd roamed towards. The Ranch. His eyes flickered around the area -- to the trees he'd known for several years. He hadn't been back there in some time.

"Ah, Colt. I don't remember you ever being one to ask stupid questions." He presented his bow, as if the other hadn't noticed it before. He shrugged his bow over his back, his fingers brushing over the arrow that he'd just pulled from the tree. He let out an annoyed breath, noticing a crack in the arrowhead.

"Great." He let out a breath as he placed the broken arrow back into the quiver. "Fuckin' hardy trees." He grumbled, mostly to himself. Ethan was lucky that he knew how to make more arrowheads.

"Hey." She murmurs, sliding into the seat offered to her. She's both sweaty and freezing all at the same time, her oversized coat doing the best it can at keeping her warm while her cheeks remain pink. Althea huffs out a breath, and looks up while wiping some of the excess, melting snowflakes from outside. It's kicking up again, it seems, and she's ready for this shit to be over with.

Hard enough keeping warm without a weird, magical blizzard - worse when you have a shack that's barely finished being patched up and a wood stove for heat. She sniffs against the running of her nose, "Jack'll do me." She raises two fingers to the bartender to make her order.

"Fuck." She starts, finally, when she has at least a sip in her system. "It's like every time I catch a lead about anything, the weather shits all over the bed."

Ethan nodded as she ordered and the bartender left to make the drinks. He lifted the rim of the bottle to his lips again, finishing off the beer before setting it aside. "That, or the lead is fucking false." Ethan muttered as he ran a hand through his hair. His body was no longer cold, as he'd been sitting in the warmth of the room for almost an hour now.

"I might stay up later tonight. See if the weather helps in any way." Snow could easily cause leads to disappear. However, it could also show trails after its fallen. "Although, I might need to invest in a better jacket." Ethan chuckled as he glanced towards the coat that was draped over a nearby chair. He'd had it for years and at this point, it barely kept the cold away from his skin. There were tears he'd patched but his zipper no longer worked.

"What were ya huntin'?"

Ethan lifted the rim of the beer to his lips. Water was most likely preferred, however, he didn't care to drink it. He'd had a long day, tracking a wolf that had managed to do damage to some of the local businesses in recent weeks. Normally, Ethan didn't have much of a problem with the tracking part, but this one seemed to pose more of a problem for him. And unfortunately, he was currently unsuccessful.

Eyes flickered towards a familiar face. "Althea." He motioned towards the seat beside him. "What are you in the mood for, hm? On me."

Digging out the doorway of her studio, along with the walkway when it was snowing with no sign of letting up, was getting frustrating, but she had clients who may still make it in for her appointments, and she'd be damned if they weren't going to get inside her door safely. Thankfully, the dark skies, thanks to the storm, meant she could be outside in the hours she wouldn't usually see.

Thao had shovelled out most of it and put salt and grit down to try to combat the weather when an overhanging tree creaked, and suddenly a heap of snow fell directly on her.

"Motherfucker!" She exclaimed, kicking at the snow and throwing her shovel onto the sidewalk. "Fucking stupid storm, stupid snow, stupid fucking--" Thao stopped, taking a deep breath and pulling a cigarette out from a packet from her pocket.

Shaking the remnants of the snow off herself, she lit up in the doorway and sighed. "Feel like shovelling some snow for me? I'll pay you. Money or services, I don't care which."

Eyebrows rose as Ethan watched the woman curse at the snow. He understood the frustrations, but he couldn't remember the last time he cared enough to even shovel snow. "Yeah. Tell that snow what's what." He smirked, and then, noticed her dig a cigarette out of her pocket. "Hm. Fucking up your lungs so the snow has a worse affect on you, then?"

"I don't need money but service... what kind?"

Ethan narrowed his eyes as he pulled back the string on his bow. He lined up the shot -- right between the eyes. The boar hadn't seen him yet, nor was he going to. Ethan had perfected his stealth in every way possible. He sucked in a deep breath and let it out slowly.

Just as his fingers released -- the arrow piercing through the air and ready to strike -- a rustling came nearby and spooked the boar. It jerked to the side and ran off.

"You fucker." Ethan hissed as his hardened eyes darted towards the noise. He hadn't anticipated that someone would be nearby but he supposed he should have. Anything was possible in Port Leiry. His fingers tightened on the bow as he walked towards where he'd sent the arrow.

"You know, if you're going to walk through the woods at this hour, you should probably learn how to--" Ethan paused, arrow in hand, as he recognized the person. "Colt. Long time no see."
