“don’t get used to it.” the small smile still remained on his face though, continuing to distract himself with the book in front of him, his fingers moving to tear at the edges of it. he knew he’d get in trouble for it, but he hardly cared. “seriously though.. open your mouth more often.” he repeated, “if you can say something like that to me, you could tear someone apart.” it didn’t mean she had to be mean, she just had to stick up for herself – something reggie felt like doing a lot.
------ Ethel examined Reggie for a moment, glancing down at his hands as he handled the book. "That's not in me," she replied truthfully. "Being mean, or, saying anything like that at all... That's not me," Ethel had a hard time standing up for herself. Be it at school, or with her mother. The humble girl found no confidence in her voice until this moment. She blamed it on shift of Riverdale. Her eyes flickered back to his hands. "If you keep doing that, the book is not going to have any pages left."
