E - Empowered. R - Reserved. W - Willing. I - Insightful. N - Neglected.
A QUELLED rage within him almost boils at the provocation, the very idea that he would put trust in the very individuals who had chained and bound him like a dog, to attack on their command and come limping back to heel at the behest of their master — the very man, it seemed, who stood now before him, so calm and collected, even as he held the hearts of every soldier sworn to him, to be played off like bait. He’d seen what this man was capable of firsthand. He remembers evading capture at every corner, the forest he had once found sanctuary in turned to a labyrinth of traps and wires … And in the end, he had been caught, but at what sacrifice ? His own freedom. His trust.
AND YET, now it seems like he has no other option. What is the measure of his freedom to all of those around him, ready to strike at a moment’s notice ? He represses the sudden, sickening urge, the rush of fire through his veins, setting ichor alight — his rage is worthless now. It would do no good to RESIST now, nor to fight against this strange power with every primordial urge trapped within the hollow of his chest … It was a dangerous game, one he did not fully understand; he only knew fragments of goodness, fragments of hatred, a void as restless and ever-changing as his soul. He remembered The Doctor’s sage words, that one day, he’d find a place where he was accepted. Where he would be helpful. He’d just have to wait until the right moment. He’d have to take a gamble upon chance and fate, not his emotions. Eventually, he digs his talons into the earth — tentative defeat, if only for today. Maybe Erwin could help him tame that violence into something more controlled. Powerful.
Of course … sir.
There’s a moment of silence, the beast seeming to contemplate his options in this situation. Granted, he’s restricted, unable to let loose the fire that no doubt burns inside of him, especially in the face of those who had been the ones to capture him in the first place. However, Jäger could very well not cooperate with their tests, but instead, he seems to agree, giving his trust to Erwin and the rest of the legion. The Commander knows his decision couldn’t have been an easy one, and he’s grateful for the opportunity to work with the titan today. Perhaps the information learned and bonds formed today would bring them one step closer already.
“Good. Then, let’s begin, shall we?” First, the blond turns to his troops, all still on high-alert. He makes himself heard, voice a bit rougher, powerful, he’s giving orders. “All of you are ordered to stay still. No matter the circumstances, you are not to slay Jäger. I don’t care if my neck is between his teeth, you stand down. Understood?” The man knows his words are shocking, that his men are trained to fight titans. To be asked to not fight something they’ve grown to hate seems counter-intuitive, but it holds a purpose. As response, he’s given a lackluster groan from a few of the soldiers, many of them whispering amongst themselves and looking to their comrades for clarity. Now, they’re truly ready to begin.
He turns back to the monster before them, and addresses him now. “Now, Jäger, knowing I’ve just ordered my men to stand down no matter what, do you have any urge to act? Will you kill them, knowing they’re helpless and won’t fight back?” This is a test not for himself or the sake of humanity, but for those members of the legion who are here today. Perhaps knowing that the beast truly was on their side, even when their backs are turned, would help the men to trust their experiment.
even if he couldn’t PERCEIVE it, the sensation was impossible to ignore. KNOTS in his stomach, FRAYED ends hissing in the air, there was TENSION all around him and enough to have him know he was being observed. perhaps it wasn’t from the one DIRECTLY before him. it could have been anyone. his perception was askew, vision darted to the left as he swept a quick scan of his surroundings. the man’s inquiry pulled back his focus and hesitation hung in his throat. did it matter what name he had? it was his FEATURES that he would prefer to keep undisclosed but there was no hiding his eye-catching, soft-white tresses. ❛❛’s Gale…❜❜ he answered after a momentary pause. ❛❛Why?❜❜ he pressed, pretending to be OBLIVIOUS to the fact this man had every right as an officer or something of the like, to be questioning him. he shifted with unease, weight catered to one foot while he tapped the toe of his boot. a free hand lifted, thumb jerking over his shoulder, ❛❛Well, I’d like t’ mingle but like I said, my goods were stolen so ’m goin’ t’ see if I can scrounge up anythin’ from the markets before it gets dark.❜❜
Calculating eyes notice the boy’s caution-how he scans his surroundings, shifting from the pressure placed upon his shoulders, and it only makes the Commander all the more suspicious. Was he nervous because he knew he had done something wrong, or was the gaze of someone of such authority simply too overwhelming? In any case, the blond needed answers, knowing he would regret not catching the criminal once the crime was committed. A gentle, yet stern hand reaches out and grabs the stranger’s elbow, trying to keep peace while also not allowing his company to run off.
“Listen, Gale.” Name is used, the man trying to appear as friendly as possible. “I’ll help you find your stolen goods. But first, I have a few questions for you. Answer them, and I’ll gladly offer my services.” His mind races, wondering which of the thousands of inquiries floating in his mind is the best to ask right off the bat.
“May I ask where you live in the walls?”
@superiorskill
His suit is nicely pressed, office clean and welcoming, and his hair is parted in a way which simply screams authority. Erwin Smith, president of a small, yet successful software company, certainly has that authority his presence portrays; his job is to lead those who work at this company, and ensure their product is marketed, shipped, and functioning effectively. In the last few months especially, their services have really taken off, thousands of new clients calling in to place orders every single day. It’s gotten to the point where he can’t keep track of his appointments, and can’t answer every single call like he used to.
That’s why he’s here, awaiting the first candidate for the role of his assistant to walk through those doors. According to Petra, one of the secretaries, several had applied for the position, but only a few were selected to come in for an interview. That begin said, Erwin was eager to get started, for he had a few questions for those who seemed worthy enough to work so closely with him.
A long index finger reaches for a single button on his office phone, his voice trying to come off as intimidating as he speaks.
“Petra, send them in.”
marco shuffles quietly into his office, closing the door neatly behind him. in his hands sit cups of coffee, and they warm his cold palms. he slides one cup onto the desk in front of erwin and keeps the other for himself, standing off to the side after he's passed it on, unsure if he's within the right to sit in a scouting legion seat. fingers tap on the outside of his mug, and he nods at the mound of paperwork scattered across the desk. ' long night ahead? '
He’s buried in work, as per usual, it always seemed to pile up towards the end of the week. There had been a lot of traveling between the walls as of late, so Erwin decided it wad finally time to sit down and make a dent in his to-do list. After all, if he didn’t sign these documents or carefully read through as many requests as he could, nobody would. Even if it took him all night, he would have all this done.
He’s a few hours in, his pile of completed files still minuscule in comparison to the looming tower of unfinished paperwork, but he raises his eyes when someone enters his office. He expects it to be Hange, or Mike, or maybe even Levi if he’s lost track of the mop again. Instead, he’s greeted by a soldier he’s not all that familiar with-the emblem on the boy’s shoulder suggests he’s not of this legion. Marco, that was his name, a member of the Military Police and a dear friend of many of the newest recruits.
“Mm, I’ve let these things pile up long enough. Thought it was very well time I get something done around here.”
The coffee is greatly appreciated, almost as if the man’s life depended on it. Slowly, he reaches for the mug, offering a soft hum of appreciation as thanks. It was people like Marco, so willing to go out of their way to help someone, that gave Erwin faith in the human race.
bends down next to his winded form. ❝ are you alright? ❞
He’d gotten a little too carried away with showing the trainees how things were done. Hopefully that kid with the busted lip wasn’t too beat up…
Still, the commander had to practice what he preaches, so he jumped in on some beginner sparring rounds today. Some of the rookies really deserved to be at the top of their class-and Mikasa Ackerman was nothing short from worthy of being that merciless soldier she was rumored to be. Here the Commander lay, beaten and exhausted, but he keeps his composure cool.
“J-just fine. You’re no joke, are you…?”
GUESS WHO’S BACK AND NOT DEAD YET, BITCHES!

Guys, I am so fucking sorry for not being more active. I have a huge test this week, and final exams next week, and honestly I’m just overwhelmed at the moment. I’ve been working on my drafts a little bit, but I really need to focus on school right now and just...finishing things off. Thanks for always being so patient-you guys seriously are the best.

❛ hey … you going blind? it’s readable. ❜ / @ethixal
Penmanship so inconsistent, almost as if it belonged to a child, was certainly not welcome on any official report. He can see every instance in which Levi made a mistake, but remained far too lazy to simply start over on a fresh document. Instead, any wrongness is crossed out and sloppily written over. This wouldn’t do at all.
“If I can’t read it, then neither can anyone else. I can’t accept this. Start over, and try to be a little neater this time, Levi”

You have very nice nips, if it’s any consolation- Commander.
If you could get fired from the Scouting Legion, both of you would be paying unemployment taxes right about now.
