*Hi! I've just recently started drawing digitally, and for the most part, I'm okay up until I try to begin colouring. Do you have any tips for how to choose the colours and the technical aspects of colouring and making it look good on Paint Tool Sai?

Choosing colors can be done in many ways, I usually go for colors that catch my eye and are aesthetically pleasing to me. I have a large reference folder full of color pallets I like, photos of nature with nice hues, to even neon florescent glow upon a figure. There is dripping from a ref which is fine, and there is also making your own color pallet. 

Some people can do this by eye, others can not. That’s okay. There are bunch of tools to help you get that perfect color pallet online. From dropping a picture into one of these apps so they can pull the colors for you (link) or an app that picks complementary colors for you based on what you’ve chosen (link) or apps that let you achieve color harmony. (link) I’m completely self taught so these tools have helped me vastly. These are there to be a helping hand. :D

I’ve had a few people ask me how to not make their colors seem dull and muddy, what I depend on are overlay layers and slight accents of bright colors to make things pop more. Hope this helps my dear. :’D if you need anything else feel free to ask.
