We exist in the intersection of the mind, body, and soul. Each effects the other- if your body is tired your mind thinks slowly, if you are stressed your hairs will gray, etc. The body is our physical vessel with which we navigate the world, and the physical world is the most obvious of the three planes. To keep the body healthy it is important to stay hydrated, get proper rest, eat foods that will fuel your body and offer it the proper nutrients it needs, and to exercise regulary. The mind is our conciousness, although perhaps consciousness is just our control over and recognition of the mind. The brain is an amazing biological computer(part of the body) which allows the mind to process and astounding number pf variables quickly. To keep the mind healthy stimulate it by reading, or doing puzzles, always come up with new ideas or think about how different things could interact together. Creativity such as art and music may be a function of the mind, or maybe the soul, I am still uncertain as to what I think the soul is. I believe that the soul is our life source, that spark that changes a body into a man, that tethers the mind to the body. It is how we relate to eachother, being kind hearted or evil. I believe creativity such as art and music are good for the soul, and that they come atleast in part fron the soul, but it can be said that they are a function of the whole left vs right brain, although one half could house the soul and the other the mind, who am I to say. I believe many people find their sense of spirituality through religion, it does not work for me so instead I get it through philosophy, and others through avenues such as meditation. People often refer to things like good food or music as soul food, and this also impacts my understanding of the soul. I will continue to struggle on my beliefs of the soul for a long time, perhaps my whole life, and since we have no way of recording what happens when we die no one is sure what happens to the soul. I believe that consciousness somewhat acts as a function of memory, and that without the ability to remember we may as well be nothing. When I think back to where I was before I was born there is nothing, and my current belief is that when we die we return to the nothing- and without memory or time to give us bench marks nothing would be only a second and forever at once, which honestly sounds kind of peaceful.
If you think of the mind, body, and soul in a three peice venn diagram we would see that we sit in the very middle. The mind by itself would be like artificial intelligence, the body by itself a zombie, the soul by itself a spirit. The mind and body together would be a robot, the body and soul together a vegetable (100% paralysed person), and the mind and soul together a ghost. Seeing as this is a blog post it makes sense that these are just my thoughts, and I hope you respect them as such. Any thoughts you would like to share that build off what I have written or any disagreements you have are welcome, I am making this to help my understanding and seeing someone else’s perspective can only help to improve understanding
