To the person who suggested being Tonowari and Ronal into the betrayal series deserves my first born! Its great im loving it! Whatās gonna happen next? Im hoping theres more parts and for a very rare occasion, i dont know whos side im on! Do i want jake and neytiri to stay together with us or do i want to see Ronal and Tonowari take over?! Both could be amazing and i cant wait to see what you do!
OMG Iām so glad ur liking it so far! Iāve been loving the suggestions from the comments so Iām using some more of those. Iāll give a general rundown of whatās to come in part 3 for anybody thatās curious :D
Reader is going to get hurt by the RDA while out foraging.
Neytiri doesnāt think to put on her comms so she doesnāt hear the calls for help.
Loāak and Jake are wearing theirs, which leads to Loāak going off on Jake after they rescue Reader.
Ronal & Tonowari officially start making their intentions clearā even moving Reader into Ronalās healing pod for round the clock supervision.
Jake starts the process of healing, and is working to be better for Reader and Loāak after the accident.
Neytiri sees red after Ronal and her get into an agreement about Reader, so she finally snaps and says shit she regrets.
A little cameo from the other children.
Reader being confused asf about what to do and how to feel. Lots of conflicting emotions.
as for who Reader ends up with?: youāll just have to wait and see hehehe š¤

Steady hands adjust your stance. The target is the farthest itās ever been, but yet youāve not hit it a single time before. If you canāt hit it from 10 feet? Youāre not sure how Tsyeyk expects you to hit it from 30.
āTsyeyk, I canāt do this!ā
āSince when do you call me that?ā He makes a disgruntled face at your words.
āYou mean your name?ā You raise a brow as his chest gets closer to yours. A finger comes up to reposition your face, āEyes forward.ā
āI thought itās only appropriate now that Iām learning Naviā Well I donāt like it. Call me āJakeā when itās just the two of us. I like it,ā he says it so casually. Like itās the most obvious thing in the world. Your whole body feels like itās on fire from his words, and he seems as cool as a fucking cucumberā¦you could strangle him right now.
āOkay then, Jake, I still canāt do this! What makes you think Iām going to hit the target that far away?ā Thereās an annoyance growing inside of you.
āYes, you can. Your form is always perfect after minor tweakingā itās your heart thatās failing you.ā His hand comes to rest on your chest, āItās strong, but you do not fully trust in it. Stop holding back.ā
You swallow the lump in your throat as you take in his words. āStop getting so tense like you know youāre going to fail before you even tryā But I am going to failā See! This is exactly what I mean! You have to have faith in yourself. Faith that your arrow will follow the path of where your heart desires.ā
He keeps his hand on your chest, āBreathe in.ā So you follow his instructions, a slow deep breath in as your eyes focus on the target. āNow relax. Feel the dirt between your toes and how Eywa beats underneath it. Feel the wind as it blows through your hair, becoming one with the breaths you take. And breathe out,ā your fingers release the arrow before you realize what youāre doing.
It soars through the air, and for the first time since youāve started these lessonsā it lands. It isnāt perfectly in the middle, but that doesnāt matter. You jump up and down as a cheer tears out of you, āI did it, Jake! Holy shit I actually did it!ā
Heās just watching you with a smile, āI told you that you could do it.ā
āSo, since Iāve totally mastered this, when will you teach me to shoot from my Ikran?ā Youāre only joking, but the genuine look of concern on the manās face has you hitting his chest. āI was kidding asshole!ā
He just lightly shoves you before pulling you back into another shooting position. āJokes are supposed to be funnyā¦not terrifying.ā
āYour face is terrifying,ā you stick your tongue out at him. He just rolls his eyes with a shake of his head. You are truly the hardest recruit heās ever trainedā¦.but also the cutest.
š š š š š
āNeytiri?ā Your shy call of her name catches her attention.
She turns to meet you, a soft smile on her lips. āHello, y/n. Howād your archery lesson go with oeyƤ tsmukan?ā (my brother)
Sheād been the first to welcome you with open arms after their mother had declared for you to learn the Omatikayaās ways. And while you originally wouldāve preferred her being your guideā¦you canāt deny the fondness youāve grown for her older brother.
A slight blush creeps up your neck, āIt went well, I actually hit the target today.ā
She laughs at that, waving you over to sit with her while she weaves. āYou will need to learn this next, but my brother has the hands of an impatient toddler when it comes to crafting.ā
Itās your turn to laugh now, images of Tsyeyk with flattened ears and tiny huffs of irritation coming from his mouth. āThatās actually why Iāve come to see you. I-I want to make a bracelet.ā
Neytiri side eyes you for a second, a sneaky little grin fighting its way to take over his lips. āMmm,ā she hums as her hands work flawlessly. āA bracelet for yourself?ā
āNo, uhmā¦a bracelet for your b-brotherā just as a thank you! You know, for teaching me archery and all the other stuff and yeahā¦ā You trail off after you realize that youāre rambling, cheeks on fire as you avoid eye contact.
She just keeps smiling, eyes racking over you as she takes in your embarrassment. At first her words send a sinking feeling through your gut, āMany beautiful Navi women have tried to steal my brotherās heart over the years, but none of them have succeeded.ā
How stupid are you to think that the Oloāeyktan-in-waiting would feel the same? Heās learned to tolerate you. Nothing more and nothing less. Thatās what you think Neytiri is trying to say. That of all the beautiful women in their clanā why would he pick a dream walker with demon blood? A woman he hated at first and was forced to mentor?
āBut then I brought you back to meet with our clan. And oh Eywa he was so mad I brought you hereā and even angrier when saānok made him teach you our ways. You challenge him in ways no other woman ever has. Make him confront the parts of himself he buries. As you humans say, you āpush his buttonsā,ā You both laugh at her use of the phrase. (mother)
āHe watches you even when he doesnāt have to. Itās like he canāt help but to find you in every crowd. My brother is a lot of things, y/n. He is stubborn and hard headedā¦but heās also in love with you.ā
You swear your soul leaves your body for a second. There is no way she is really feeding into your delusions right now. This has to be some twisted joke, āNeytiri stop it! That isnāt funny,ā
One of her hands comes to rest on your shoulder, āIt is not funny because I did not tell a jokeā Tsyeyk doesnāt even like me, let alone love me!ā You barely let her get the words out. Your mind is running a mile a minute as she continues.
āOh my Eywa! He looks at you the way Tsuātey looks at me! Men are not all that different. You can learn to read them easilyā¦another skill I can teach you,ā her eyes find yours still filled with hesitation.
āWhy do you think all of the other warriors have stopped coming to talk to you?ā
You donāt have an answer for that. Your mouth hangs open as you try and think of a real reason as to why the group of men have stopped following you around like lost puppies during the evening meal.
āWhy do you think he walks over every single night to give his extra niktāchey to you? He doesnāt even let me have it when I ask anymore!ā
Your brows furrow at that. As much as they tease each other, Tsyeyk would bend over backwards for his little sister. Why would he give you extra food over her?
āAnd do not think you two are being sneaky when you ride your ikrans before sunrise. We all know.ā
āThatās just flying lessons!ā You try and reason. Youāve blushed so much at this point you think it might become a permanent tint to your skin.
āThen why do you try to sneak off like teenagers? And why do both always come back with perfectly braided hair? Seems pretty romantic to me,ā she shrugs along with her last words. Her hands go to put down the basket sheās working on.
āNow, what colors were you thinking for this bracelet?ā Sheās smiling at you like she didnāt just blow up the foundation of your whole world.
āUhm, I-I brought some rocks I found in the river!ā You pull the small sack from your waist and pour them out onto the small wooden table in front of you. Mixes of oranges, blues, and greens liter the surface.
āI wasnāt sure how many to get. I just thought these colors would look pretty on him,ā the last sentence comes out before you can stop it. āI meanā together! They look pretty together! You know the color scheme and everything!ā
Neytiri canāt help but double over in laughter. Youāre dying of embarrassment and sheās about to die of oxygen deprivation if she doesnāt remember to breathe. You truly wish the ground would open up and swallow you whole right about now. But when she finally pulls herself together sheās quick to apologize.
āIām sorry! I did not mean to laugh at youā¦I just donāt think Iāve ever heard the word pretty used to describe my brother,ā she coughs to cover up another giggle that breaks through. āShould we get started?ā
āJesus Christ, please.ā You murmur as you briefly fan your face.
š š š š š
After about two hours of careful crafting, youāve finally finished the piece of jewelry. Itās not the best, but itās definitely not the worst. Neytiri seems very proud for it to be your first ever attempt, āThis is better than anything Tsyeykās made up until recently, and heās had a ton more time more than you to learn!ā
She sees the nervous look on your face as you trace it over in your hands. All you see are the imperfections. How itās not all crisp and doesnāt look like the ones she makes. Her hands come to cover yours, āHe will love it regardless because it comes from you. It could fall apart after 10 seconds and heād still find a way to wear itā¦just to have a piece of you with him wherever he goes.ā
You give her a genuine smile, moving to place the bracelet back in the sack youād carried the rocks in. āThank you, Neytiri. I will definitely be back for more lessons! Well, only if youāll have me of course.ā
āIs that even a question? I would love to steal Tsyeykās star pupil! We barely get to see each other anymore since he keeps stealing you away,ā she pulls you up to walk with her.
āBut itās time for the evening meal and you know what that means,ā sheās looking at you mischievously as she leads you towards the communal fire pit. āCanāt it wait till after weāve all ate, Tiri?ā
āAbsolutely not! I didnāt just spend 2 hours teaching you just to wait any longer,ā sheās literally dragging you through the village. If this had been Earth and you were crushing on one of your friends brotherās? It wouldāve been a cat fight. Here? Neytiri is practically trying to shove you into his arms.
You see the clans people gathered around the fire, family and friends relaxing at the end of a long day. There are children running around playing, still full of energy theyāre trying to get out before bed.
And then thereās the warriors. A group of the strongest and most skilled protectors of the clan. Thatās what Jake had called them. He doesnāt like the title āfighterā. They donāt fight for the sake of violenceā they fight to protect their families and honor their home.
His eyes find yours almost immediately. Heās laughing at something one of his friends said, the orange glow of the fire casting a beautiful haze over him. He looks breathtaking in this low light. Oh yeahā¦youāre down BAD.
Your eyes donāt part the whole walk over. Itās like youāre in trance, feet somehow still moving. Youāre sure without Neytiri guiding you itād be a wreckā¦probably already wouldāve fallen over or walked straight into the flames. She pushes you to the front as you finally make it to his group, her mate sitting on the other side of him.
āI see you must be extra hungry tonight if you are walking all the way over here for my niktāchey,ā Jake teases you.
āShe did not come for the food, tsmukan.ā Neytiri corrects from behind you. āDid you, y/n?ā
You open your mouth but no words come out. This is a lot harder than you thought it would be with all of these eyes on you. The group of big, buff warriors are crowded around like a lunchroom of teenage girls getting gossip. Neytiriās tail whips the back of your leg to snap you out of it.
āOW!ā You turn to her slightly, but sheās just pointing with her eyes. You follow her gaze and see itās resting on the sack tied to your loincloth. āOH! Right,ā you fumble to untie it as fast as you can.
āI-I, uhm, wanted to thank you for the lessons! Especially this last one, so I asked Neytiri to help me make this for you!ā Your hands are shaking slightly as you untie the small bag, hands reaching inside as you pause for a moment. āI know itās not good, b-but itās just my first try! So, justā be nice, okay?ā
You pull out the bracelet and place it gently into his palm. He brings it up to closer to his eyes, hands moving slowly over every little detail as he analyzes it. The colors are like no other jewelry he has. Itās a one of a kind piece that everyone will know came from you. And that is something that lights a fire inside of him. āI love it,ā his eyes are quick to find yours again. āCan you put it on me?ā
āO-Oh, of course!ā Your cheeks heat up once again today as you step in to move closer. Tsyeyk holds his arm up for you, a sense of pride filling his chest as you secure the bracelet into his wrist. In his mind youāve just staked your claim on himā in front of his whole clan. A clear sign of courting that he gladly accepts. He catches sight of his little sister giggling behind you and his eyes squint.
āHas my sister told you what our mating customs entail?ā Jake has a grin on his face as he studies your perplexed expression. āNo?ā
The warriors all start to snicker as you look around at them. āWhy is everyone laughing?ā
āBecause, paskalinā¦ā Jake pulls you to sit in his lap as you let out a squeal, āyouāve just chosen me to be your mate.ā (sweet berry)
Your jaw drops at that, head snapping to jerk between him and his sister, who is wearing an evilly happy grin by the way. āDo not worry,ā Jake brings his niktāchey to your lips. You instinctually bite down on it as the realization dawns on you thatā¦heās. feeding you.
āI accept,ā again he says it so casually. Like heās reading the fucking weather report. āI did not agree to this!ā You try and counter, but itās weakā¦especially when you snuggle back further into his chest as you open your mouth for another bite of his food.
Neytiri joins Tsuātey as the evening continues. You share food, stories, and laughter around the group. And as the night winds down and everyoneās leaving for their own beds, you and Jake remain tangled in each otherās embrace. Neytiri had to practically come back and drag you to your hammock. So you reluctantly say goodnight, your fingers not leaving each otherās until they have absolutely have to.
And right before the sun came up the next day, a familiar hand is shaking you from sleep and leading you out of the village. Under the guise of the darkness you sneak through the trees with your soon-to-be mate, playful tugs of the tail and quick kisses exchanged as you race to your ikrans.
While you have your own Avatarā you never really go out unless itās with a small team, Grace, or Norm to collect samples. That all changes when Jake convinces you to sneak out of camp with him to fulfill a promise you never thought he was serious about keeping. Fluff 1.5k words

(Iām learning English rn so my grammar isnāt good, sorry !)
Hello ! I love your writing and I just read Ā«BetreyalĀ» so I kinda need fluff š
Can I ask for the prompt #4 with avatar!reader and Naāvi!Jake (I love this AU yk with Tsyeyk) if itās okay for you <3! We finished our archery training session with him and to thank him (we have a crush on him) for all his help we made him a bracelet with Neytiriās help (maybe his friend/sister in this story). Itās kinda messy because weāre still learning weaving but he still like it because he loves us too
Can you also make one with prompt #1 (fluff) and #26 (smut)? In a scene like Neytiri and Avatar!Jake at the Tree of souls
First off I just want to say your English is so good!! I can barely speak it correctly, and itās the only language I know lol.
I'm obsessed with your Jake x Reader x Neytiri series š This is more of a suggestion, so I understand if you don't follow the story like this, but imagine Tonowari and Ronal REALLY going after Jake and Neytiri šš Jake doesn't say anything because of Utruru and maybe has to stop a confrontation between Ronal and Neytiri, and then she and Reader fight, and maybe it follows with anguish because this time it would be Neytiri who says something stupid šš It's really just a suggestion, but I want these couples fighting over her and more of her with Loak
Omg first Iām so glad youāre liking the Betrayal series !! I wasnāt sure how people were going to respond to it, but all Iāve gotten so far is positive feedback and great suggestionsā which speaking ofā¦I LOVE THIS IDEA.
I was already thinking about maybe making Jake & Neytiriās roles switch in the 3rd part. Like Jake understands now the damage heās causing, but Neytiri is just seeing redā¦and this is the perfect set up for that. I was having trouble deciding what would push her to that point, but Ronal judging her bc she and her hubby want Reader? Oh yeah that would do it š¤£
I can also see Jake as the more level headed one when it comes to matters like respecting authority figures because of his time in the military. Neytiri is a born warrior who leads with her heart. So yeah she donāt care to argue with the TsahƬk over her wifeā Jake would definitely have to be the one to step in. (As evident in AWOW when they had their little hissing match lol)
and lastly OF COURSE !! I love Loāak so much. Every time heās on my screen I just want to protect and hug that baby š But Iād love to do a whole little mini series at some point of just cute moments between Reader & Loāak throughout the years before the events of AWOW, but only if people are interested lol!
Below is a collection of 30 writing prompts Iāve put together! (Iāll probably add more as time goes on) They are separated by subject, but can be used together. You can pick 1-3 prompts per request with any of the characters featured on my writing list that is found on my blog introduction!

āItās getting goddamn late, where are they?ā Jakeās pacing back and forth around the mauri. His nerves on edge after everyone laid down for bedā¦everybody except for you and Loāak. Under the annoyance thereās a flash of worry peaking through, āSheās never been this late coming home.ā
Neytiri glances towards Kiri, Tuk, & Spider to make sure theyāre still asleep. Sheāll explain your absence to them in the morning. But right now all she can handle is telling Jake, and hopefully getting him to realize his faults.
āThey arenāt coming back tonight, Ma Jake.ā The words hang heavy between them. He spins around with an incredulous look on his face, āWhat the hell do you mean?ā
Tears fill Neytiriās eyes once more tonight, āThey need space from youā¦space to process the hurtful words you spewed at themā¦and I pray you can put your ego aside and apologize,ā Her eyes get a bit dark as the next words leave her lips, āAnd Jakeā¦if we lose them because of this?ā A sense of dread runs through him, āIāll never forgive you.ā
He makes his way across the pod to wrap his arms around her. The warmth of his body swaddling around her like a blanket, but its usual calming presence is missing. His voice is low as he speaks, āIāll fix this, baby. Iāll bring them back.ā
He leaves a kiss on the back of Neytiriās head before he heads out into the dark. Jake isnāt sure if itās the wind or the heaviness weighing on his heart thatās sending chills across his body. He knows he fucked up, but surely not enough for you to leaveā¦right?
š š š š š
The sand feels comforting under your feet as you stroll down the waterline to clear your head. Youāve never spent a night away from Jake and Neytiri since youāve been mated.
No matter how tired, far, or annoyedā¦you always made sure to end the night wrapped up in each otherās arms. It usually turned into you smooshed right in the middle of them. No matter what position you started in youād wake up with your cheek against a chest and one pressed up to your back. You always thought of it as the safest place in the world..and despite everything going on? You still do.
So as much as you donāt want to go back to your shared mauri podā¦youāre still postponing the walk back to your own. Itās daunting to think of waking up alone. Especially in such a new environment when youāve already been separated from everything else you know.
You miss the forest. You miss your friends, the animals, the Hallelujah Mountainsā¦.but mostly you miss your mother-in-law.
Moāat always treated you like one of her own children. Youād made a point to learn how to heal from her; often bringing the children to visit her while Jake and Neytiri tended to their clan duties. You bonded during those meetings, and a deep respect had formed. She always knew what to say and how to fix every problem with ease. Itās times like these that you miss her presence more than ever. You need a guiding hand to help you navigate this, but instead youāve resorted to running away.
Youāre only pulled from your thoughts when you come upon a shadowy figure not far from you. And the closer you get? The more your heart starts to sink. Itās dark out, but you can still recognize the faint outline of your youngest son. Your feet pick up speed as your stomach starts to turnā¦somethingās wrong. A motherly instinct kicking in thatās been baked into your DNA the day Neytiri had birthed Neteyam into this world.
Thatās when you see itā the gun. Itās resting just under Loāakās chin, tears streaming down his face as he stares out into the ocean. Heās breathing heavy, chest rising rapidly as one hand rests on the barrel and the otherās down with his thumb on the trigger.
Youāre full on sprinting at this point, lungs getting ready to let out a blood curdling scream when Loāak beats you to it. The sound that comes from him is one of pure, unfiltered agony. He throws the rifle from his hands, the metal sliding across the beach. All of the emotions heās been keeping buried finally letting themselves wash over him.
āLOāAK!ā Itās broken and your voice cuts out halfway through, but you donāt care. You just throw yourself onto the ground, arms pulling him in as close to you as physically possible. You canāt hide the sobs racking your body, limbs shaking as you keep trying to touch him to make sure heās okayā¦to make sure youāre not hallucinating; because losing two sons so close together would surely drive anybody crazy.
He doesnāt say anything, just lets you hold him as you both cry. And in the haze of your brain trying to fully comprehend the weight of the moment, your mind flashes back to the day you found out you were pregnant with him.
It was a day like any other, normal in all the best ways. Youād made your way with Neteyam and Kiri over to visit their grandmother, and as soon as you walked in? She had a grin so wide she couldnāt hide it. It had come to her in a dreamā Eytukan told her of the joy he felt knowing of their new grandson growing inside your belly. She knew it was true as soon as sheād woken up, heart full of hope that youād stop by that day. And by the grace of Eywa you did.
You love all your children equallyā¦but secretly? Loāak will always hold a special place in your heart. While Neytiri gave birth to Tuk, she reminds them both of you so much. Your āmini-meā as they call her. But Loāak had come out as a perfect clone of your husband. A baby so headstrong it was comical at times. And heās yours.
Every little bit of him you grew from scratchā even the parts he hates. His cute little fingers and his eyebrows that are oh so expressive? Those are your favorite parts of him. The ones that remind you of your husbandā¦those are the ones you cherish the most.
You remember how feisty he was before he even made his appearance, little legs always kicking and moving around inside of your womb. Kiri had poked at your tummy curiously, little eyes full of wonder at the little feet and hand prints poking out of your blue skinā¦in contrast, Neteyam cried because he thought his baby brother was a monster inside of you. But they both loved him the moment they laid eyes on him, effortlessly accepting him into their hearts without a second thought.
You remember how happy Jake and Neytiri were when you told them. How Tiri instantly started making new pieces of jewelry, baskets, and a million other things in preparation for the Sully addition. Jake had told your belly stories of his days on Earth every night, hand drawing lazy shapes on the skin as his eyes glowed with love.
Itās hard to believe thatās the same man who you saw tonight. The same man who looked at his son with such detest and disappointment. You just want to fix this. You wish you had a reset button so you could just go back to the days before everything got so complicated.
You shouldāve stood up for him at the council, and you shouldāve intervened between him and Jake sooner. All the things you shouldāve done wonāt stop screaming at you in your mind. You canāt help the feeling that youāve failed your sons. Oneās dead and the other? He hates living so much heād rather join him in eternal death.
The silence grows as his sniffling slows down, and you pull away to cup his face in your hands. āYou are so loved Loāak, Iām sorry I didnāt stand up for you sooner.ā One of your hands comes down to rest lightly over his chest, āYou have a strong heart, ma āitan.ā (My son)
He lets more tears escape his eyes, but they arenāt as violent anymore. Heās letting the pain come out freely now, instead of letting it consume him whole. The next words are selfish, but raw. āPlease donāt leave me!ā
āYou are so much more than anyone gives you credit for. Your father loves you so much Loāak. Please, know that. He just has a hard time expressing it. Heās a marine at heartā trying to stay strong for all of us when really heās drowning just as bad as we are.ā
A sad smile crosses your lips, āYou remind him so much of himself that it scares him. So he acts out of fear, not true anger. And I know none of that is an excuse, but I also know he can be better. I know you remember what he was like before the sky people came back. I know that manās still in there. Heās just too scared to let his guard down like that again with the RDA so close.ā
And for the first time since youāve found him tonightā he speaks, āI just want him to see me. The real me. Not all the mistakes Iāve madeā¦I just want to be enough for him.ā
Your heart breaks hearing his words. Heās been through so muchā¦lost so much in the short amount of time heās been alive. How do you even begin to fix this? āI know, baby. I know,ā and youāre pulling him back into a tight embrace. His head rests under your chin, letting his body fall into yours. āHeāll come around, I promise.ā
But thatās a lie. You donāt know if Jake will swallow his pride, but you pray to Eywa he will. A desperate plea screaming from your brain out into the void, begging for her to hear your cries. Not for your sake, but your sonās. Because Jake might be Navi now, but he can still be so blind at times.
Thereās a voice calling your sonās name that you recognize as Tsireya. He barely lifts his head as she stumbles to the place on the other side of him. She puts her hands on his arm, eyes drifting from the gun back to you both. The tears come as the realization sets in, her head hanging low as she fights to gain her composure again. You let a hand come out to rest on her knee, drawing soothing circles into her skin like you still do to Tuk.
Youāve seen the way they look at each other. The small giggles and smiles as she taught Loāak the Metkayina ways. When you first got here heād often bragged to you about how good of a teacher she was; which was shortly followed by his older brother making kissy faces and teasing him to no end. You knew Neteyam wasnāt wrong though. It was evident in the way Loāak would throw something at his head, a furious blush taking over his cheeks, the tips of his ears, and nose. Your son is just like this father, and yeahā¦heās got it bad.
You think youāre actually hallucinating now. Because just the thought of Jake has your brain tricking you into hearing his voice. It isnāt until Loāak is busting out of your and Tsireyaās grasp, legs marching back towards land before you can realize whatās going on.
āItās not my fault!ā Thereās new tears springing from his eyes. You stumble to your feet and start running to separate them. The last thing your son needs right now is another screaming match with his father. āThatās not my fault!ā You reach them just as Loāak shoves Jakeās chest, taking a few steps back as the look of regret sinks into his features.
You quickly position yourself between them once again, āUnless youāre here to apologize to your son, then you can turn around and leave.ā
Thereās a shiver that goes through him at your tone. Youāve never been this sharp and cold with him before. Never greeted him without that stupid little lovey-dovey smile on your face. But any trace of that version of his wife is gone at the moment, and all Jake wants is to get her back.
He takes a deep breath before picking his next words carefully, āI came to bring you both back home. We can talk in the morning, but Sullyās stick together, remember?ā
A fresh wave of anger flows over your body, eyes peaking behind you to see Tsireya confronting Loāak. You turn to them, āTsireya, could you please take Loāak to the mauri your mother arranged for us tonight?ā
She just nods as she wraps her arms around your son to guide him in the right direction. He doesnāt even fight it, just keeps his watery eyes locked onto his dad before he has to turn his head.
You turn back around after you feel satisfied knowing sheāll take good care of him. āWe are not your property, Jake. You donāt get to just show up and tell us what to do and then expect us to blindly follow it. Especially not after the way you fucked up.ā
He winces at the last few words, a sense of guilt radiating in his body. āI know I fucked up, baby. I know I said shit that wasnāt true, things that shouldāve never come out of my mouthā¦but we can get through this. Weāve never spent a night apart as a familyā¦letās not start now.ā
You want to give in to him. You want to forgive and forget and move on like nothing happenedā¦but you canāt. The rage that had simmered down? Itās boiling back to life the longer you stare at him, āNo. Iām staying with Loāak tonightā¦away from you. He needs space, Jakeā You mean you need space.ā He cuts you off.
āDonāt keep putting this on Loāak when youāre the one who has their feelings hurt like a child! Heās strong, okay? Heāll be fine. What he doesnāt need is to see his parents arguing to the point of getting pseudo-divorced!ā
Heās letting that tinge of anger cloud his judgment again. His rose-colored glasses that make him the hero of every story are still strapped over his eyes, but you know exactly how to knock them off.
You grab his wrist as you drag him back towards the scene of devastation youād just left. āWhere are we going?ā Jakeās not as angry as he asks, just more of an annoyed tone now. Itās only a few more steps before you drop his hand to turn around, finger pointing out towards the ground.
Jakeās gaze follows your finger, and beside him laying in the sand is one of his rifles. āPick it up,ā your voice is null of any emotion. You almost seem like a zombie with the way youāve went numb. āWhat?ā Jakeās brows furrow, annoyance being completely consumed by confusion.
āPick. It. Up.ā You havenāt even blinked yet, eyes staring holes through the man in front of you. And Jake would never admit thisā but heās scared as fuck right now. The look in your eyes and the emotionless tone that drips from your voice? Heās sure you could kill him right here..and no doubt his marine combat skills wouldnāt be enough to save him.
Jake bends his knees as he picks up the raided RDA gun. It somehow feels heavier in his hands than usual, but he just chalks it up to the intensity of your sour mood. But when he stands back to his full height and keeps looking over the metal in his hands? Thatās when you let it slip.
āI found our son with that rifle pressed against his head,ā youāre not even sad anymore. No, youāre fucking livid.
His body freezes up, and Jakeās ears flatten as he takes in your confession. A look of pain, guilt, and shame start to take over his features. His eyes fall back to the gun in his hands and it suddenly feels like itās burning him alive.
So he drops it as a nauseated feeling fills his gut, flashes of his sonās life running through his head. He canāt even speak, just keeps staring at his hands as they shake.
āHow fucking dare you accuse me of using our son as an excuseā that Iām the one actually doing him harm,ā A snarl comes out as your lip twitches. āNot when your words rung so heavy in his head that he pressed the barrel of a gun to it!ā
You donāt even give him a chance to respond, but heās in such a state of shock right now that he couldnāt give you a coherent response even if he wanted to.
He just drops to the sand, eyes still stuck as his brain and body fight each other inside of him. And in that moment you see a flash of your son. You almost reach out to comfort him before you stop yourself, and without another word you slip away from the beach.
You leave him there to soak in the devastation once more, but itās not like he wasnāt the cause. Youāre letting him sit in it the way weāve had to. Letting it stew around inside of him until he realizes the error of his ways.
At least, you hope he will. If this doesnāt wake him up? Youāre not sure what willā¦and that thought is truly terrifying.

When you make it to your mauri youāre surprised to see the Oloāeyktan and the TsahƬk standing inside. You address them by their titles as you walk in, hand gesturing from your forehead down as you greet them.
āPlease, call us by our names.ā Tonowari had a warm smile on his face.
āYes, no need to be so formal, y/n.ā Ronal calls from the floor. Sheās helping Tsireya and Loāak gather the right supplies to fix Neytiriās broken bow. A singular happy tear falls from your eye at the sight. Loāak has a genuine smile on his face, even if itās small. You notice itā a mother always notices.
āI am sorry if weāve offended you somehow,ā Tonowari has a concerned look on his face as he observes your reaction.
You wipe the tear away quickly, a quiet laugh escaping your lungs. āNo, the complete opposite actually.ā A look of gratitude shines from your eyes, āItās been hard to find friends here and a place to fit in. Your family has been the kindest, and I donāt know how I can ever repay you for your generosity.ā
A hand comes to caress yours, āYou do not owe us anything. Just keep learning our ways and making this your home. Thatās the best way for you to repay us,ā Ronalās voice is the softest youāve ever heard it. āAnd accept our invitation to sit with us tomorrow morning at the morning meal.ā
A wave of anxiety goes through you at that. Youāve always sat next to one of your mates if not right in-between them during meals. Hell, not even just for meals but everywhere. Youāve always been beside them, a sign of the strength in your bond. But that bond is shaky right now, and you canāt really say no to the leaders of the clanā¦and maybe the rest of the villagers will start to accept you more if they see you close to their Oloāeyktan and TsahƬk.
āOnly if youāre comfortable of course,ā Tonowari cuts in after seeing your hesitation.
Your eyes flit back over to Tsireya and Loāak as they work together seamlessly. He looks the happiest heās been since the passing of your eldest, and thatās what truly solidifies your answer. You turn back to them with a soft smile, āIād love to join you. I know Loāak and you havenāt always seen eye-to-eye, but I can see that you have grown to care for him. Thank you.ā
āWith the way those two are going, Iād say we have no choice but to get along.ā Tonowari jokes and Ronal is quick to follow him up, āMight as well accept him now before theyāre trying to sneak off in a few years.ā
You let out a genuine laugh at that, not having seen this side of them yet. Itās a breath of fresh air. And you desperately need it after the day youāve had. It isnāt long before theyāre bidding their goodbyes. Loāak and Tsireya dawdle until her mother is practically pulling her back towards home.
The night settles down calmly after that, the tension slowly melting from your shoulders. Not completely but enough for you to get some sleep. It isnāt the same as being smushed by two loving cuddle bugs, but it will do for now.
Youāve left the privacy shade open so you can keep an eye on Loāak. Every little bump and creak has your eyes peeling open to check on his resting form, only letting your eyes close once you realize heās still here and breathing. Youāre still on edge from the beach, and the effects are lingering in your body. You donāt know when or if youāll ever be the same again.
š š š š š
The sunrise trickles in through the flaps of your Mauri as it opens. It rouses you from your sleep, eyes blinking a few times to get used to the light. You see Loāak stretching as he yawns, an arm full of cloth you donāt recognize in his grasp.
āWhatās that, Lo?ā The childhood nickname rolls off your tongue. With your mind wandering back so much lately itās just a natural response.
āTsireya brought us some new clothes to wear for breakfast,ā thereās a light blush still dusting his features. āGifts from her family so we can feel more at home with the Metkayina.ā
You mirror the same smile on his face, getting up and making your way over to get your share of the clothing.
āWell then we shouldnāt be late. Get changed and weāll head out,ā you land a quick kiss on his head before retreating back to your side of the Mauri.
The privacy shade is pulled closed as you quickly put on the new purple loincloth and seashell beaded top. The designs are intricate, and you can tell someone put a lot of love and passion into crafting them. You notice the tiny seashells that hang from the tips of your loincloth that match the ones on your top. How theyāve woven the strands of cloth to resemble the fishing nets they useā every single detail has been planned out. Nothing has been placed without a specific purpose, and the outcome is stunningly gorgeous.
You feel a little conflicted. The clothes are more than beautiful, but they seem too nice to just be given with nothing in return. Youād never turn down such a gift, you know itād be seen as rudeā¦.but you also know your mates.
And you know sitting beside another couple is already going to throw a curveball at themā¦being adorned in that coupleās gifted clothesā especially ones like this? Itās a fight already startedā¦but you have no clue of the true mess itās going to cause.
So you take a deep breath, eyes closing as you let your heartbeat settle down. A voice suddenly pulls you back to the moment, āMooom, come on! Why do girls take like forever to get ready?ā
āIām coming!ā You pull back the curtain with a playful scoff. āYou know, you are really impatient when it involves getting to see your girlfriendā sheās not my girlfriend!ā Loāak cuts you off with a childish stomp of his foot.
āOh Iām sorry, your friend who is a girl that you like and want to kiiissssā OH MY EYWA! Youāre impossible!ā He throws his hands up as he heads out of the Mauri, a fresh purple tint lighting up his face as you follow behind him.
Loāak runs off as soon as he sees Tsireya waving him over to the seat she has saved for him. You take your time as your eyes scan the crowd of hungry villagers gathered around. Youāre almost to your new seat when your feet lock in place.
Your eyes meet Neytiriās as a hopeful look comes across her. Sheās pleading you with her eyes to come sit with them, to just let it rest for this morning. You donāt look at Jake, but you can feel his eyes burning into you. You almost give in just for her, and you know you will if you glance at your children.
But a familiar deep voice pulls you from their trance as a hand is placed on your shoulder, āCome, we have saved a seat for you.ā
You donāt trust your voice so you just nod and give him a small smile. Letting him lead you to the seat between him and Ronal with his touch not leaving you until youāre fully seated.
The meal goes well, the leaders of the clan are a lot more laid back than youād originally assumed. They even moved some of their food onto your plate so you could try a wider variety of their cuisine. Itās been a little hard to adjust to the abrupt diet change, but youāve grown to love the saltiness of the sea.
The stress has slipped from your mind, and you realize maybe this space is the best thing for you right now. Itās giving you and Loāak time to breathe without having to worry about stepping on anybodyās toes. To be free of the pressures and responsibilities of being Toruk Maktoās familyā not forever. Just long enough to take a break from that daunting title.
The meal ends quicker than you wouldāve liked, but the duties of the clan will not do themselves. The day is ready to officially start as everyone cleans up and makes their way from the communal fire pit.
Youāre just starting to walk off to start your journey of foraging for herbs, when Loāak runs up to ask if he and Tsireya can go work on Neytiriās bow before continuing more lessons. āAsk Tonowari first and be respectful of his wishes, okay?ā
āYes maāam!ā Theyāre both quick to scurry off to the direction of Tsireyaās father. Loāakās head snaps back towards you as the young girl still pulls him through the crowd, āOh and thank you!ā
You just shake your head with a smile, waving them off as you go to turn back around. But youāre met with a familiar chest that you bump into, stumbling back a bit before his hand grabs you by the forearm and pulls. Jake is hauling you just like he did to Loāak the previous night, grip so strong thereās no way to stop him from dragging you off.
āHey!ā Your hand comes up to push on his back, āWhat the fuck is wrong with you? Let me go!ā
But your hand that youāre using to try and distance yourself with is suddenly caught by a much smaller one than your husbandās. You move your gaze over to see a very, very pissed Neytiri. Your ears flatten at the sight, your eyes flickering down and away from her bone chilling stare.
They donāt release you into youāre all back in the walls of your family mauri. Jake still hasnāt turned around yet, his hands resting against a post as his head hangs between his arms.
Neytiri is the first to break the silence, āI knew you were upsetā¦but not enough to replace us so soon.ā
āW-What? Tiri I havenāt replaced you guā OH BULLSHIT!ā Jakeās hand slams against the post they rest against. He turns to face you, angry tears rolling down his face as he stalks towards you.
āYou show up to the morning meal dressed in their clanās clothes, smelling like them, sit right between themā¦and you really want us to believe you didnāt spread your fucking legs for them the first chance you got?ā
Your eyes bulge out of your head, a winded gasp leaving your lips. A look of disbelief crosses your face, āYou think I slept with them?ā
Jakeās breath comes out ragged, āDonāt play goddamn stupid, y/n.ā
āIām not!ā Angry tears spill out as you shove him away from you, just like Loāak had done the night before.
āThey gave me and Loāak new clothes and invited us to sit with them this morning because everyone and their fucking grandma knows we arenāt getting along right now!ā You choke on the words as sorrow starts to settle in. āAnd itās not like I have any friends here, so yes I sat with them. And yes I accepted their clothes because this is supposed to be our new home, Jake! Youāve been pushing us to fit in and accommodate to the new challenges, and thatās what Iām fucking doing!ā
You turn to back away, your cloudy eyes falling onto both of them. āIād never cheat on youā NEVER! Do you really think of me so lowly that Iād do that to you? That at the first sign of trouble Iāll just jump into bed with the next couple thatāll have me? Do you really think Iām that selfish to break up our family?ā
Neytiriās crying now, a sense of dread filling her at ever letting her jealousy convince her that youād betray them. You donāt feel safe with them right now, she can tell by how youāre hugging yourself in an attempt to self soothe. āI-Iām so sorry,ā it comes out broken. She falls to her knees as the emotions overtake her, whispered pleas to forgive her wonāt stop coming from her mouth.
Jake just stares at the ground, eyes unwilling to meet yours now. He was so strong willed a few seconds agoā so sure of himself. Now heās been replaced by the scared little boy you so easily recognize.
Heās not apologizing, but heās accepting what youāre saying as fact all the same. You canāt lie to save your life. So no matter what the demons in his head keep saying, he canāt deny your truthful words. He canāt deny that he was wrong, and that heās made this worse before it can ever get betterā¦if it can ever get better.
āI have to go foraging,ā your voice is small as you announce it. You make your way over to Jakeās combat box and pick up the black collar. āIāll take my comms just in case.ā
And just like the two times before, you leave. You put on the tactical gear and walk out of the flap theyād just drug you through. And just like those times beforeā they let you.
Hiii guys !! idk if anyone will see this, but iām currently working on Part 2 of the Jake x Reader x Neytiri angst drabble :D i wouldāve started on it sooner, but this winter storm busted my pipes last night and took my power for a few hours š so iāve been dealing with that most of today. But it should be out tomorrow or the next day depending on when we can get a plumber out here lol !!
hereās a little sneak peak of the synopsis for anyone whoās curious :D
Iād love an angsty fanfic with Jake/reader/Neytiri <<3
Not too sure about the synopsis, but maybe some kind of betrayal? Even something OOC like cheating
Thank you in advance and love to see a fellow Avatar AND polygamy writer on here!!
BETRAYAL PART I
a/n: OMGG thank you so much for sending in this request !! While I originally was gonna go the cheating routeā¦this idea has been floating around in my head before I even made this accountā¦and you just gave me the perfect opportunity to finally write it out hehehe. Iām tempted to write a second part if anyone is interested! Buuut I hope you like it!! Feedback is always welcome and appreciated! Thank you for reading :D
Synopsis: You stick up for your son, so your husband turns his anger towards you. And in the heat of the moment you both say things you know youāll never be able to take back.
Subject & Warnings: Angst, Reader smacks tf outta Jake one time, Language, Sad Neytiri caught in the middle, Open ending so it could be viewed as hopeful or hopeless depending on where youād want the story to go, Some AFAA SPOILERS concerning Jake & Loāak.
You were watching the scene in front of you play out with your ears flattened down. Eyes bouncing between Jake, your son, and your wife. Loāak can get a bit passionate and will rally for that cause like no other. Something that feels and sounds like another man you know quite well.
So you look to Jake, hoping heāll finally see the strongwilled young man your son is growing into. Not a boy scared of change or confrontation. Just a budding warrior turning into a leader, following in the footsteps of his father. But all you see is the anger boiling up inside of him. His fingers twitching at what he views as insubordination and disrespect.
āTAKE HIM FROM HERE!ā Tonowari demanded.
You watch as Jake grabs Loāak by the arm to pull him from the council, āMake a hole!ā
You share a look with your wife before giving her a small reassuring smile, āDonāt worry Iāll handle it, yawne.ā (beloved/loved)
You lean your forehead in to touch hers, feeling a tiny reprieve of peace before you walk into unknown chaos. You brush your thumb over the top of her hand before carefully unlocking your fingers from hers. You make your way through the rowdy crowd, taking a deep breath as you start to approach two figures you recognize.
āWeāre at war, do you understand that? If you disobey orders people get killed!ā You watch as Loāakās face drops, his lip twitching like he did when he was little. No one can put out his fire faster than his father can. You donāt think Jake realizes just how badly his son craves for his approval.
āWith Spider here weāre trying to keep a low profile, but that rogue is out thereā heās stirring up the young bulls! Heās gonna bring the whole RDA down on us!ā He gets so mad he starts to growl some of his words, an animalistic side carving its way out from the inside.
But like a light switch you see the flames flicker back to life into Loāakās eyes, āYou want him gone? Thatās why you didnāt say anything!ā
Then you see the look on Jakeās face. The way he takes a deep breath before his face starts contorting. And for the first time you feel slight fear towards your husband.
āHeās a loose cannon! Heās just like you! In fact, if you hadnāt gone to him in the first place, if you hadnāt disobeyed orders then your broā JAKE!ā Your voice booms through the night like a bomb. If this was a cartoon there would be smoke coming out of your ears right now.
Your body is quick to move between the two of them, hands coming up to push Jake away from Loāak. āI would never speak out against my husband so publicly at a council, but I will not let you speak to our son like this!ā
You lower your voice as you turn back towards the boy behind you, āLoāak Iā¦ā But you find that heās already gone. Heād just slipped away into the night without another sound, the fight in him finally gone. But what you donāt expect is for your husband to turn his vile words to you now that youāve turned back around. As soon as youāre facing him again he lets his mouth fly, his rage locking in on a new target.
āYouāre the reason heās goddamn like this!ā Jakeās voice cracks like thunder. Heās got that look in his eye youāve never seen pointed in your direction, well, not until now.
Thereās veins popping out of his neck, and heās taking slow but steady steps towards you. He sounds like a completely different man than the loving mate you know. But the next words that leave his mouth create a devastating blow you never could have predicted, āIf you hadnāt coddled him like a fucking child, then my son might still be alive!ā
One of your hands comes up and lands a slap across his face. Your body does it before your brain can catch up, blood pumping loudly in your ears from the adrenaline. A hiss claws its way up your throat. Itās raw and instinctual, like a scrappy alley cat fighting to survive.
āDonāt you ever discount me as a mother to Neteyam,ā you arenāt screaming or yelling anymoreā¦and somehow thatās even more terrifying to Jake.
Youāre too calm for the cruel bullshit he just spewed your way. He regretted the words before they even fully left his mouth. He knows itās not true, but the stubborn little boy inside of him still refuses to grow into a man sometimes.
āYour son?ā A dry laugh escapes you, a bitter taste filling your mouth. āAnd Loāak isnāt the way he is because of any amount of babying I did to him,ā you hold back the cries threatening to spill over. He doesnāt deserve to see your tears after that; not just so he can swoop in and play the hero who wipes them away.
āHeās a carbon copy of you, Jake. Thatās why he gets under your skin so easily. Because when you looked at Neteyam you saw Neytiri, when you look at Tuk you see me, but when you look at Loāak? Youāre staring into a mirror of the past. And you hate what you see,ā A chill runs down his spine at that. āYou donāt want him to make the same mistakes you did, so you never allow him the opportunity to fail. Because his failures? You feel them like theyāre your own.ā
Jakeās the one holding back tears now. The blaze in his eyes reduced to a smoking pile of guilt as he processes your words. You back up from him, determined to get away from this storm thatās brewing between you. āBaby Iā And you seem to forget that Loāak is still a child, Jake. He just wants to be like you, to make you proud. But you never see that. You treat him like a soldier, when not too long ago he was just a boy playing in the forest.ā
And as hard as you try you canāt stop the first tear from falling, ā Tiri was right. This isnāt a squad, itās a family. I just hope you can start to treat it like one before you lose it.ā
Your husbandās hand reaches out for your retreating form, but heās met with you smacking it away. A pained look flashes across his face, āBaby come hereā NO! You donāt get to ābabyā me and pretend like everythingās okay now, Jake!ā
Thereās a sadness settling into your features heās never seen before. An emotion he has to search for in the subliminal signs on your face. A look of disbelief? No, itās something deeper, something more jagged and ugly. Not disgust or hatredā¦but something like betrayal. Itās breaking his heart to see you like this, to experience your tears and cold words that he knows deep down are true.
But Jakeās a stubborn man. A stubborn man with a lot of pride that can blind him at times. And while he might apologize to you, thatās not what you want. You need him to apologize to Loāak. To look at his son as his own person and not an extension of himself. So you leaveā¦and he lets you.

You storm into the mauri as fresh tears roll down your face. Neytiriās heart sinks at the sight, instantly moving to comfort you. āMa y/n, whatās wrong?ā
You just shake your head, words jumbled and broken up by sobs as you relay what had happened with Jake, Loāak, and you. Her tail whips from side to side in an upset protest at the words sheās hearing.
She knows Jake is stressed and grieving, but so is everyone else. Heās the one that said he could keep you all safe, and now heās letting his own feelings of failure drive his heartā¦and in turn driving an even bigger wedge between the family.
āIām staying in my own mauri tonight,ā you whisper it into the air. Neytiriās head snaps in your direction, āNo, no paskalin please! Just stay here and weāll talk with Jake when he comes backā Iām sorry, Ma Titri.ā You cut her off with a saddened look. (sweet berry)
āIāve already made the arrangements, and I donāt think I could handle seeing him right nowā¦I just need space.ā
So you lean in and press a soft kiss to her lips. It tastes salty from the mix of the tears you both canāt seem to stop from falling.
āThis isnāt goodbye, okay? And please, tell Loāak he can come stay with me if he wants. He probably needs some space, too.ā
Neytiri just nods, ears still flat as she desperately tries to cling onto you for a little bit longer. But you know if you stay in her arms youāll be persuaded to stay. So while you still have the courage; you unwrap her arms from around you and slowly rise to your feet, your heart breaking with every step you take away from her.
Just as you make it to the flap you turn to give her one last look before you go, āNga yawne lu oeru, Ma Tiri.ā And then youāre gone into the night. (I love you/you are beloved to me)
It isnāt long after that Jake stumbles into the mauri. His eyes filled with hurt but a skull too thick to fix it. He throws himself onto the floor after picking up a gourd of god knows what. He stares at it for a few seconds before leading it up to his lips, ready to drink away his worries. Maybe even to try and wash away some of his sinsā¦an old habit that wonāt seem to die even in this life.
Neytiri yanks it from his hands, but calms herself quickly. She knows she has to be gentle when heās in this state. Itās the only way she can get him to calmly listen, āYou need to speak with our mate and our son, Ma Jake.ā
Sheās met back with a scoff and a petulant eye roll she only expects from one of her children, āI have nothing to say to either of them.ā
For the first time in her life, Neytiri fears this might be something she cannot fix on her own. So she sends a quick prayer to Eywa; begging for a sign that her family will not fall apart under the pressure of losing their first born son.
And as she stares into the darkness outside of their temporary homeā she sees it. A flicker of light shooting across the sky. It could just be a meteorā¦but it could also be a sign. A shining star that at least gives her some hope. So she clings to it, a breathless, āThank you Great Mother,ā slipping from her lips.
Synopsis: While you have your own Avatarā you never really go out unless itās with a small team, Grace, or Norm to collect samples. That all changes when Jake convinces you to sneak out of camp with him to fulfill a promise you never thought he was serious about keeping.

a/n: yaaay first work done !! :D hereās a little fluffy Jake drabble to kick off the start of my account!
āāāā ź° į§ą·į§ ź± āāāā
āCome on just for a little bit,ā Jakeās behind youā repeatedly rolling his wheelchair into your lab stool. āTake a break and use that big beautiful brain of yours for something fun, y/n.ā
A blush starts to creep up onto your cheeks, backing away from the notes youāve been jotting down on the Sun Lilly Jake had brought back for you to study. You turn your body towards his, the squeaking of your stool ringing out into the empty lab.
āYou say that like Iām some stick in the mud,ā thereās a pout on your lips as your brows furrow. But Jake knows you too well by now. He sees the smile youāre fighting back, and that glint in your eye that only shines when heās the one thatās teasing you.
āI mean if the shoe fiāHEY!ā He catches your foot before it can kick his chair away, wrist wrapping around your ankle as he laughs at your attempt of retaliation. āEasy there Spitfire, Iām just messing with you!ā
The nickname rolls off his tongue like second nature; one quickly developed after witnessing you kick Lyle straight in the balls after he made a passing comment about your ass. That was his first time meeting you, and now itās faded into whatever this is...you two dancing around each other, but never saying what you really want to.
The feelings are obviously there, but thereās an unspoken fear that lingers around the air every time it almost becomes more. A fear of losing the friendship youāve carefully crafted to this stageā¦but has it ever really just been a friendship? Thereās always been a whisper of want that floats between you and Jake. A thickness to the atmosphere that can only be chalked up to the emotions leaking out of you both and filling the roomā sometimes until you choke on it.
āWe arenāt supposed to just body swap with our Avatars whenever we want, you know? Theyāre for scientific purposes and creating betterā relationships with the natives, yes I know.ā Jake cuts you off as he pulls you down from the stool, a squeal escaping you at the sudden movement. He catches you in his arms, settling you in his lap as he already starts wheeling you both towards the link chambers.
āAnd who says Iām not taking you out on a scientific expedition, huh?ā Jakeās face is so close to yours now, youāre sure if you spoke heād feel your breath against his cheek. His eyes are facing forward, clearly on a mission to get to the chambers before you can change your mind.
You donāt say anything at first, just playfully roll your eyes as a small grin takes over your lips. āYouāre nothing but trouble, marine.ā
āOh please,ā Jake sneaks a quick look your way, āwe both know you like it.ā We both know you like me, is what he really means. But he doesnāt want to scare you off, not when heās finally got you agreeing to spend some alone time with him in your Avatar forms.
You lightly smack on his chest, a playful scolding that doesnāt hold any real weight to it. A bubble of warmth swelling in your chest at the implication. āShut up,ā itās barely a whisper, light and airy as you turn your face to hide.
You both say hey to Norm as you enter. Jake had somehow convinced him to be a part of his little plan. How? You arenāt quite sure yet. He rolls you over to your chamber first, letting you step up and climb in before heading to his own. You know better than to ask him if he wants help, heās made it fully aware that heās capable of getting into the chamber all by himself. Once youāre both settled Norm closes the pods, starting the process as he sets in to monitor your human bodies during the switch.

āShhh! Youāre gonna get us caught,ā Jake whisper-shouts as he shoves your side a little. Heās so much taller than you in his Avatar body, and somehow even more cocky. āOh Iām gonna get us caught? Youāre the one giggling like a little schoolgirl!ā You push him back, but he doesnāt even move. Heās a solid brick of manā¦avatar? Whatever he is, heās tall, blue, and making you blush a shade of purple you didnāt even know was possible in this body.
āAnd what exactly do you two think youāre doing?ā Graceās voice pops the bubble you two are wrapped up in. You jump around with your hands behind your back, ears folding as you resemble a child getting caught trying to sneak a cookie out of the jar. āG-Grace! Weāre just going on a-a-a scientific expedition!ā
āYeah, I promised her Iād take her to see the Pandora stars while getting some nocturnal flora photos. Weāre barely even leaving camp, Grace.ā Jake comes in smoothly, that Sully charm still shining through.
Grace has an all too knowing smile on her face, eyes darting between you two as she shakes her head a few times. āJust make sure you keep her safe, Jake,ā and heās pulling you out of the side door before you can even think to respond. But a teasing shout catches your attention as he guides you out to the forest, āDonāt get my favorite scientist killed, and have fun taking pictures with no camera!ā
Jake just gives a mischievous smile back towards the redheaded woman before disappearing with you into the night. Thereās a rush going through you at the thought of being out here alone with the smart mouthed ex-marine youāve grown a fondness for. You donāt walk more than 15 minutes through the trees before heās settling you both in a field of flowers. Youāre perched upon a hill, a clearing above giving the best view of the sky.
You lie back beside each other, shoulders brushing as he points out certain constellations youāve only seen in your research books. Itās mind blowingā the colors and the beauty of it all. It has joyful tears rising to your eyes and spilling over before you can stop them. Earth was too polluted to see the stars anymore, but youād dreamed your whole life of gazing upon them without a screen or a page in the way. And here they finally are. The feeling is overwhelming in a purely good way.
āSo, is it everything you thought itād be?ā Jake only stops his rambling once he hears the sniffles, head jerking towards you as a panic runs cold through his body. āH-Hey, sweetheart. Iām sorryā no, no itās okay!ā Itās your turn to interrupt him this time, breathy laughs leaving your mouth as your wet eyes meet his.
āTheyāre happy tears, Jake. I just canāt believe Iām actually seeing this with my own eyes. That something this magical even exists, and that we couldāve had all this on Earth, tooā¦but we ruined it, destroyed it. I never thought my dreams could become a reality. Not in this lifetime.ā
Your eyes slowly take him in, the bioluminescent dots patterned across his face, the way small strands of his hair fall down to frame it. He looks as ethereal as the night sky, maybe even more. āAt least that was true until I met you, Jake Sully. A hard headed, sarcastic, stupidly attractive man who made my dreams come true.ā
āOh so you do think Iām attractive, huh?ā Jakeās quick to tease you, but he puts a finger over your lips before you can give him a snappy reply back. āIāll always make your dreams come true, and if I canāt? Iāll keep trying until I can.ā
One of Jakeās hands comes up to cup your cheek, his thumb rubbing circles into your jaw. He wants to kiss you so damn bad, the desire to feel your lips against his burning him from the inside out. But he holds back, lowering his hand as you let out a breath you didnāt realize you were holding.
āW-Whatās that one?ā Your voice stutters a bit from the hazy feeling still lingering in your nervous system from his words, your body instinctively scooting closer to his. You already know, but hearing his voice is becoming a favorite sound of yours.
He smiles as he lets his eyes rake over you for a few moments more. Because while the stars might be the most beautiful thing out here to you, his eyes would much rather focus on the nerdy scientist tucked into his side. Youāre prettier than any star or alien flower to him. A masterpiece of Godās creation even in your Avatar body. But he forces his eyes back up to follow your finger, a sense of pride swelling up in his chest at being able to show you things youāve previously only dreamed of.
And while you both talk and laugh under the night sky of Pandora, Jake slips your pinkies together. An act of pure innocent intimacy that has both your hearts fluttering in sync. And in that act, a small promise of the future; of a love thatās seed has finally sprouted on a hill of flowers.
