they met years back when they were both youthful, unsure of what they wanted from each other except bodies beneath the sheets. she was young, reckless and unsure of what she wanted to do with herself. then becoming a mother, having a beautiful daughter who’s almost three — three years, it took her so long to finally open her eyes to reality. she was thankful that he was the partial reason ( despite it being unexpected and unprepared for ) he was the father of a beautiful blessing she ends up holding close every single day.he missed too much, discussing some of it when they spoke to one another when they reunited. she missed details about how her ex was really treating her during their relationship but she knows how he can be; upset and angry about it. hana would rather receive the pain than to have it be inflicted on her daughter though she had to leave before it was too late to where her daughter would have it haunt her in the night. he’s also now aware of the time where hikari was ill, thankfully, she knew what to do. half sister wasn’t around but she immediately rushed their daughter to the hospital for a check up and medication. but them? hana doesn’t know where they stand yet. he just came back into her life and to her, she’s confused. perhaps, it’s because there was emotions that was never explained. how she developed some feelings for him but it was wrong when they’ve done nothing but used one another for their own pleasure. their friendship was cherished, they’ll spend quality time together and talk as if their lips weren’t clashing into each other an hour ago. so, she doesn’t know what he’s referring to when he’s inquiring about the situation.“no, not anymore.” she says.for all the times her heart was beginning to beat a lot faster than it usually is, to the smiles growing immediate when her eyes watched him spend time with hikari. these feelings were indescribable.he must’ve felt stressed, overwhelmed even. knowing him and his sister were butting heads briefly because of how he treated hana. though, she reassured her best friend that she was fine all this time. she was at fault, knowing how to take the blame when it’s fair. leaning onto the couch, cheek pressed into top of it with body shifted to the side to properly look at the taller male. “don’t think too much into it.” she says softly, hand rubbing on the top half of his back.she looks at him and all she sees is what she deserves all this time. and that was him.“i mean, you’re trying — hika loves you so much already.” reassuring, soft smile beginning to sketch itself along the corners of her lips whilst talking to the other. taking a deep breath in, scooting closer to the side of his frame with arm looping around his own. she wants to say it, paranoia making her bite her tongue back. feeling sick to her stomach from overwhelming emotions about how she wants to bring it up; usually no filter, straight forward personality but she loses her confidence when finding the words to say it. not having the best of luck hence is why she dealt with too many men.again, she takes another deep breath. because she feels as though she could pass out from being this overwhelmed at this point. “do you think that us reuniting like this means something — you know, cliche and all but like, faith, maybe.”no, that’s not the words she wanted to say. hana wanted to tell him after all this time; she still loves him.

This all felt a little bit odd doing in on the street outside of his little sisters house and he immediately wondered what would happen if Hana would in fact show up once again–it was clear that all three of them didn’t know about one another which is how this mess had happened. He was pretty positive that if he had known his this woman was the best friend of his little sister then things would have been cleared up when it had first occurred and he felt his heart ache at all the time wasted between now and then. When he felt her arms wrap around his torso, he smiled softly before feeling the wiggling little bundle of joy between them yet he froze at the name she called him and he pulled away momentarily before looking down at the female with wide eyes.

Clearing his throat, it was safe to say that he was in shock more than anything as he reached forward to grab her hand and gesture for her to follow him inside.

Had the little girl just been confused at the fact that there was a male figure before her and assumed that he was her Father or was there an underlying meaning behind all this? He suddenly felt himself get lightheaded and the need for answers bubbled within him. Reaching his free hand up to his head, he winced slightly–was he ready to be a Father if his thoughts were confirmed? The panic began to set him as he inclined his head over his shoulder before stopping as soon as they were at the door. He felt hot under the collar, like he was going to collapse at the newly given information. He would step up to the plate if it was true but it was quite a big thing to have sprung upon him so randomly. 

“Did she just say ‘Papa’?” Dark optics watched the other carefully before back to the child and immediately he began to see similarities between the little girl and himself making the anxiety build up in his stomach and it was hard to keep standing. How long had Hana knew? If it was true, he had missed out so much on this girls life and he had become the one person he vowed he would never be–a man who left his child. An overwhelming sense of guilt flooded over him and he could feel the tears prickling in his eyes, this was going to look back on him and what would his family think?

Retracting his hand, he knew he needed to sit down before he collapsed. Stepping inside the familiar house even though it wasn’t his own, he made a beeline for the couch before shakily sitting down on the soft cushions and staring into the distance trying to recollect his thoughts. “Hana, is it true?” It took everything in his power to keep his voice from cracking but it was proving difficult as he chanced another glance towards the female who still had the little girl in her arms. “I knew you were pregnant but I thought it was his… why do you think I stayed away?!” 

there’s a lot of feelings that’s obtained within her heart, from being in front of someone who meant something to her and the way her daughter couldn’t keep her small little lips quiet for a couple of minutes. she still wanted to run away, hide her face in shame because this was a lot of explaining to do and the way they’re doing it in her best friend’s house. the other woman can come back any minute now and start yelling at the both of them or maybe even him for making her cry. when overall, she’s overwhelmed with bottled up emotions.

“s-she did.” hana couldn’t deny it anymore, felt that there’s a reason as to why they’re reunited after years of not speaking to each other. it’d be selfish of her to disappear once again and quite difficult if the other woman and him were siblings this entire time. that’s another conversation she’ll be having with the both of them at another time. hana knew he was the father for a long while and didn’t feel the need to make it an issue or a situation because hana learned how to be a single mother to hikari. 

his reaction is her worst nightmare. knowing he’d blame himself for all of it when it was her fault all along. when he’s situated more comfortably, she allows her daughter to lean into her body with petite hands clutching onto the fabric of her shirt whilst looking at him as he speaks. immediately frowning, he was always someone who gained such strong yet passionate emotions when it comes to anything. “being with him didn’t feel right.” 

hana wasn’t too sure whether to inform him what happened when they officially parted ways. she tried hard to not think too deep into it but when she speaks to him, she can feel her eyes watering once again. it was painful, emotionally and physically to be around someone who couldn’t love her the way she hoped and the way he neglected her child ( who at the time, really thought was the father. ) things didn’t add up anymore. six months after hikari was born and she confessed, claiming she didn’t feel as though he was the father after all. took a couple of bruising, harsh words but a test happened. and when the results came, she left. 

“he made me feel as though hikari was a mistake and just -” when tears were beginning to fall when speaking to him, she harshly wiped it away with the sleeve of her shirt. “i knew sometimes you tried to keep in touch and when you gave up, i was relieved. not because i didn’t care i didn’t want him to know, i didn’t want anything to happen to you.” until this day, the other male meant so much to her. from the thoughts and what if’s until meeting eye to eye with him after three years of separation; she still cares for him.

A chilling spine haunted Seungah for ages and continued to do so even after years of therapy – to see that tears and cuts from mundane everyday things or purposeful events, whatever the cause, she could not fathom the look of it. It reminded her too clearly of a past she has always wanted to bury deep within her mind but the more she hid it, the more it began to be overbearing with each reminding tool. “Still, Kira unnie. Be careful, please.” The heiress whispered and ever so slightly caressed the latter’s hands before returning her own to place it on top of her lap. 

It pained herself to see the latter’s hands, that was delicate with each work, so readily tarnished by the skin breaking. Albeit the bandage stopped Seungah from thinking the worst of the worst, she wouldn’t be able to comprehend just what could cause such injury. “Myself?” A topic that was always boring in her opinion as she felt like she led a mundane life following orders from a mother who nearly berated her own daughter’s choices by speaking negatively and forcing her to align her needs instead of her daughters. “Oh.” A small chuckle was released out of temptation to spill rather unnecessary pent up emotions, “I think I’ll always have trouble near as it’s quite difficult to hide a towering and well built bodyguard…” 

Her eyes drifted from the older woman’s face to her bodyguard who was sitting near the front keeping an eye on her as she smiled soft but genuinely. “Moments like these where everything around us become stagnant and a sense of comfortableness settles in, I can’t help but revel it. You do know you have that sort of aura, right unnie?” Seungah returned her focus onto Kira as she gave a warming smile. A smile that meant multiple meanings of how she viewed the other. A person she could possibly lean on in times of stress, a person she views genuinely as a friend, a person who she is grateful for having the opportunity of befriending.

“for all the times you’ve called me ‘unnie’ i could feel myself aging quite quicker than the last time i see you.” who would’ve thought this particular woman knows how to joke during such serious moments? suppose, she’s grown to have a humor throughout the years and despite the time of knowing seungah she understands that she does it out of respect. with the occupation she obtains without anyone to acknowledge she feels pain and is quite numb to the touch of it. isn’t phased by the touch laid within the younger’s gentle touch but there’s a small burn, it’s still freshly bruised. 

excuses on top of excuses in regards to her workout or she feels as though ( and is ) strong enough to carry heavy packages to where it bruises her in the end. tough woman, capable of really packing a punch on another if she felt the need to. hand to hand combat in order to receive the reward for her accomplishment at a good amount of time. kira couldn’t let the other woman know about it, such a tragic ending of a beautiful friendship. “that’s true but at least i can rest well knowing you’ll be perfectly fine.” despite her feeling as though one isn’t capable of handling the job as well as she could. suppose, she shadows in the distance to watch over the other on the behalf of the one who requested her to do it. 

“me?” kira questioned, making sure she’s hearing it correctly because the description is based on the aura that waves along seungah’s presence. well presented and such warmth every single time. it’s not often people question kira’s well being though she is quite thankful to have someone question her well being. her laughter is lighthearted, a hand wave to the side to dismiss the other before correcting her with her own perspective. “oh, goodness - i’m just here existing. you happen to create an impact greater than most, all is appreciated. do know that much.” kira isn’t too sure how to explain such positive emotions, she was quite accustomed to making vague conversations with people. unable to develop good relations due to her job but throughout the years she understands that she has to be cautious.

Inclining her head over to the other, she was still in shock about the whole situation but hearing her friends words she shook her head. “I can’t believe you never told me who you were seeing at the time.” Her voice was soft and calm, she certainly wasn’t angry, she was just confused more than anything and was beginning to wonder if Hikari was in actual fact her brothers. He had never even mentioned dating somebody before–then again, he always had kept his private life a secret.

“I’m not mad,” she spoke quietly, her gaze now directed to the floor once more as her mind tried to process all the information, “I just don’t know what to make of the situation. You’re both adults and I know it wouldn’t effect anything between us, I just can’t believe how small this world is. Out of all the people there is, you two found one another and all three of us had no idea of the situation.”

It was almost laughable but upon the comment about her brother, she sighed. “I don’t agree with how he treated you. I’ll forgive him one day but right now I just need a bit of time before I see him again.” He had left her best friend in her time of need and while that didn’t sound like Minhwan in the slightest, he had admitted it himself and she almost felt heartbroken that he had done such a thing.

“it was a messy situation, i guess.”

hana didn’t really know how to explain it, something about the way she was in between a love triangle from the other’s brother to another man who did absolutely nothing but create issues on top of issues. she wasn’t delusional, she had a difficult time letting go of something that once had meaning to them but meant everything to her in the end. the latter would’ve went on a witchhunt for the male the way she did with her ex when she was stuck in the toxic atmosphere. 

when listening to her best friend, a small apologetic smile leaves her lips. regardless of how she felt, the ex-musician was listening intently because she means the world to hana no matter what. though, she would agree the world itself is quite small and the fact that the actual father of her child is her best friend’s brother. unusual but things happen for a reason. “i understand, hana but - you know it’s my fault too.” she was quite unsure of what she wanted from a partner, not too certain why she picked the other male over minhwan despite the confidence of knowing he would be the father. though, that was completely wrong and solved when she had given birth to hikari. 

leaning back into the seat besides the other woman, “i cut him off, i was scared he was going to do something to minhwan if he found out it was him or that we were something when we weren’t in a proper relationship.” explanation sounds so foolish, couldn’t control her urgent needs and resulted into not being sure as to who the father of her child was. how did hana knew to begin with? gut instinct. it was something by the way her daughter was beginning to resemble made hana understand that staying with her ex wasn’t worth the emotion, physical pain anymore either.

at this point, she’s unable to even budge. their lips linger for a couple of seconds, eyes closed momentarily before they open again and she sees how close they were to one another physically. she couldn’t coil her mind around it, unable to even say anything. they shared another night with a few drinks that were evenly split because something about allowing another person to pay for everything didn’t seem fair to aera. her tolerance for alcohol was manageable but she isn’t too sure the other male can say the same or he drank more without her noticing.

her initial reaction was to shift back but she thinks it’s rude. she also is tempted to lean forward but she’s tipsy, she doesn’t want to allow herself to make a decision that she was going to regret. he probably doesn’t even want to kiss her either, who knows; it’s too much for aera to think about. but her genuine emotions were beginning to show, it’s by the way she laughs nervously.

she laughs and the guilt begins to spread within her mind by bringing her palm forward in between them momentarily. “i apologize, shit - oh my god, for that as well.” there’s no way of recollecting herself from the mess she was. feeling as though she was going to combust any second at this point because to kiss someone when she hasn’t even been intimate with someone in months, almost a year is insane.

“i didn’t mean to laugh, i got quite nervous.” admitting truthfully to the bashful, unexpected action. embarrassed at this point, unable to even create one second of eye contact with the other male standing in front. this moment reminds her of her first kiss, this whole entire situation besides the amount of alcohol they engulfed resembles the way she was when her first crush manages to sneak a kiss on her lips.

she wanted to laugh, thought it was adorable. reminded her of the times where they were nothing more than each others benefits as friends. to fulfill desires through intimacy despite there being nothing more than genuine conversations and laughter as if it didn’t happen to begin with. hana is always at a loss of words when seeing him, when he talks she could listen to him for hours and she’s unsure in the beginning to why she feels the way she does. must be puppy love but when their eyes fall within each other it’s as if she’s falling in love all over again.

to place a kiss along his lips was a daring move, after all now a days she can’t help but think about her best friend in the back of her mind and she feels more hesitant to move. even though the other woman was fine, she wasn’t necessarily upset towards her but she vented passionately about how disappointed she was with her brother lately which catches her off guard. it’s adorable, shows how much the other had such love for her after all this time.

while her half sister is on her adventurous date, it was a perfect opportunity for the male to stay longer than a day. she found it absolutely adorable the way he interacted with her — or well their daughter. minhwan was everything she needed in her life, much more in depth within his physical traits but the way he carries himself. she wasn’t perfect, he wasn’t either but the way he treats her daughter and herself after years of separation meant everything to her. when she basked in nothing in regret, drowning in losing herself; he reached for her with hand held out and removing her from a toxic atmosphere.

“what did you just say?” hana thought she heard incorrectly, the way he asked if he can receive a kiss from her. it’s almost as if they were high school lovers, she’s shy and flustered. a blush immediately crawling on the apple of her cheeks and she scoffs from his foolish inquiry. he wasn’t even leaving, there’s no need to kiss him goodnight. she brings hikari higher to his level in order for her daughter to press her lips sloppily along her father’s cheek before bringing her down and in her arms. “there it is.”

he tries putting her to bed, she refuses to let go of him. hands clinging to dear life on his shirt and she mumbles incoherent whines into his chest from how tired she was and she wanted him to stay another night. hana purposely looks away, this sweet moments gets her far too emotional ( last time she felt this strongly about something was either during her pregnancy or when naeun arrived to korea again. ) and it takes him ten whole minutes to bring their daughter to sleep, he doesn’t even budge when she’s sleeping right on top of him instead.

this is how it feels to be a whole family.

he asked one more time about this goodnight kiss he supposedly is so desperate to have from hana. scoffing, she settles into the bundle of blankets around the mattress, no hesitation in settling into warmth with him and hikari. “why aren’t you letting this go?” hana doesn’t know why she questioned it, answer is obvious by the way his eyes were directly glued to her since day one. whether it was seemingly the first day they met to the day they reunited with one another. hand grazed along her face, unable to compose herself properly. he’s one of the few who manages to unveil this softer side of her.

hana remembers the first time they shared a kiss, he mentioned how adorable she was he would kiss her. she said, bet. it happened. even when they were supposedly friends in this complex relationship, she longed for their lips to meet once again. because she didn’t know love felt this good after all.

her finger is resting along the front of his chin and on the underside of his jawline. she inches forward to where she can kiss him slowly and this feeling of how her heart races against her rib cage and undeniably crazy. she kisses him in an apologetic tone, for the sorry’s she hasn’t said. to the emotions that she couldn’t speak, words couldn’t express the way he makes her feel when he’s around. when they part, she huffs childishly; she slowly slides down a bit to where her heads comfortably resting on the pillow near him. “there’s your damn kiss, goodnight.”

well, she could only hope that her best friend didn’t hate her. this situation was twisted without any intentions and not even the other woman ever dropped a name as to who her sibling was. the father of her daughter comes right there unexpectedly only to even realize that her best friend was blood related to the man who meant the world to her at one point until this day. 

“i can’t believe you...” hana softly speaks, a mumbling beneath her breath at the idea that this was kept between the both of them. eyes peering over at the other, still cannot wrap her head at the idea. she isn’t too sure if the male ever told hana detail to detail about the whole situation when they reunited once again. “i can’t believe you never told me who your brother was.” she huffs, a little childishly. 

looking over at the other woman, surely she felt somewhat guilty because there was certain things that weren’t discussed during moments of releasing their emotions to one another. it took a lot out of hana to even say one thing out of her mouth though she was thankful that the other was trying to be understanding of it. “i just hope you’re not mad, especially at your brother.” she believes that in the end, they were both at fault for different reasons. hana didn’t communicate as well and cut ties without an explanation after all.

Eyes kept flickering towards the child that was clung onto her Mothers leg and he couldn’t help but feel the harsh twist of his heart, the ache gently pounding and he felt an overwhelming urge to cry. How many tears had he actually shed over this woman? How many times had he been desperate to call her and make amends with everything but his pride had stopped him every single time and he hated himself for it. He had assumed that she was back with her ex boyfriend instead of doing the mature thing and actually speaking to her and it was something he was never going to forgive himself for. Time he was never going to get back.

Just as he was about to tell her how he knew the other female not wanting her to get the wrong idea, she was already out of the door. He stood there momentarily before realising that he couldn’t let her get away again. He wasn’t about to just stand in the middle of his sisters living room like an idiot while he had visibly upset the girl he had once found himself falling in love with. Again. The second he had laid his eyes upon her, all the emotions he had previously felt had come flooding back in an almost overwhelming sense. Turning on his heel, he was running out of the house after her.

”Hana, wait!” He swallowed the lump in his throat as he stopped his tracks, he needed to get one thing cleared up first– “she’s my sister! My little sister.” Already a weight had been lifted off of his chest as he ran a hand through his hair before he reached out to her. “Please… let’s talk.” The ache was getting stronger and he was almost wincing just at how painful it truly was. He couldn’t have her shut him out even though it was hypocritical of him to say so. Tapping his foot, an anxious habit forming as he chewed on his lower lip. 

“I-I’m sorry.” 

for all the times she wanted nothing more than to be with him was an understatement, to be in the position of her heart strings being tugged on was overwhelming. seeing him was an immediate rush of all the things she wanted to say though was restrained too. she had pick a toxic relationship for the sake of this family only to find out that her gut instinct was right all along as to who it was. and she was thankful, an excuse to finally separate herself from the man who did nothing but bring her down. and all she wanted to do was apologize, for disappearing and ignoring all the messages even though it was read. every single time she felt alone all she did was read the texts he left behind for her to read only. 

and the moment he admits the relationship he had with the other, brows scrunched in confusion. to why her and hana haven’t met any sooner and to why the both of them never really went into detail about them being siblings. it was a simple vague explanation on both ends and to know that he was her best friend’s brother was; god, everything was falling onto her so quick she couldn’t coil her head around it. when she’s trying to usher out she’s immediately stopped by the way he calls out to her because naeun reminded her that sometimes, running away isn’t the way to go in life. 

when he apologizes there’s a weight that removes itself from her shoulders, teeth sinking into her lower lip as she continues to stare at him. the damage they both shared from each other wasn’t worth it, this could’ve been fixed a long time ago and she can feel her daughter rest her head on her chest in a comforting manner. “why are you apologizing for? it was my fault too.” hana doesn’t admit her faults easily but she understood what he did just for her to come back to him. she did nothing but pretend he was a stranger for the sake of his protection and her own when she was still carrying their child. 

she shifts her body to where they stand in front of each other by then, taking a step forward as she nods her head in agreement to talk. “i - you know i -” 

“papa,” is what she ends up hearing from their child and presses her lips together. hikari knew, knew through old photos of the pair she held dearly in a box of memories. even when she didn’t understand a word she just shared too many stories of what they were and wished it was that way until now. when her eyes watered she couldn’t hold herself back from crying, tears that were held back for months almost two years now immediately fell to paint her cheeks as she starts to usher back into him because this is where she belonged this whole time. with him. “i’m sorry, i missed you so, so much.” words muffled into his shoulder, arm coiled around the center of his frame. trying not to suffocate her daughter between them as she was still carried within her hold.

it was probably good that someone had come out to join her, even ask her about what happened, otherwise joo-e would just wallow in self pity. but the young girl also didn’t like to let her flaws known to the public as she liked to keep a perfect and picturesque vision of herself to others. that’s why she hated this so much; that’s why she hated this heartache. never would she let things get to her this deep, but it was only a matter of time when someone would come around and find her weak spot.

she reached for a tissue from her clutch, trying to compose herself enough to at least answer the girl that decided to join her. she felt bad… kinda… for snapping at her, assuming she’d be like the others who couldn’t keep shit to themselves. and even though joo-e truly had the upper hand in the situation, she still felt that weakness that she’d never felt before.

❝ men… that’s the problem… ❞ he finally spoke after releasing a long breath to calm herself,  ❝ men and their little jealous minions who think they can just ruin a girl’s reputation in just one night… ❞ she didn’t know why she was so upset to be completely honest. but perhaps it was just the utter shock of how many people had gone against her in one night.  ❝ but it doesn’t matter i guess… their party was shit anyway… ❞

for all the times she’s comforted someone, this doesn’t make things awkward. naeun was almost an emotional support for someone who didn’t feel as comfortable in sharing emotions towards another person. she’s seen her half sister fall apart plenty of times herself and this moment was quite similar to how it was when hana would cry in front of her. she always held back, cried when they were apart and didn’t share feelings until the last second when it’s bottled in. joo-e’s been known for carrying herself with perfection, a porcelain doll and this was a first. 

“well, i suppose you’re right especially since men in this generation are quite interesting.” and not in a positive way, she knows that. for some reason, she seen breakups occurring more often than conversations to make things right. she isn’t judging the other for crying over another person, she understands the feeling of shedding tears over heartbreak. been there but that’s something not often she shares. when she continued to listen to her speak, she taps her fingers on the railing with a small frown. “don’t let their judgement get to you, they’re complete idiots.” 

naeun isn’t someone to disrespect another, let alone let an insult slip right out of her lips but people were biased over one side than listening to both sides. those who do such foolish things must’ve been quite envious over joo-e and all she’s been doing thus far, she is quite successful by doing things on her own. “yeah, you want to head out? i don’t want people to say any more than they need to, to you.” suggesting, knowing people might cause rumors or ruckus over the sight of the other breaking down and there’s no need for drama. everyone is grown and it isn’t high school any longer either.

holding hands become things he frequently do, yet it hold different meanings. one means he accompany them to the afterlife, other means he is trying to bond over them; perhaps protecting them from the harm of this beautifully twisted world — a world we cannot help but love. love to hate but hate to love; even if its theoretically and physically impossible. when the ground we walk upon is the same grown where we built our little house and heaven, the same grown where we love and live, we hate and we kill. the same ground we raised our food to fill the hunger within, one who make it all possible.

the sky begins to torn apart as the sun set against the sea. it’s time where the night creatures begin to crawl out of their peaceful slumber. as sun begins to fall and moon begin to rule the world, the living ones run along back to where they belong. home is what they call. but define home when some of them is not running back home but running from life. living ones — humans – are a complicated fragile being. like a pink delicate flower petals in a whirlwind. maybe that’s what tugged the string of his frozen heart. this delicate being has slowly grow within him, growing their roots on his heart, growing their sprouts in his lungs. slowly but surely, blooming in his mind.

“it’s dangerous to walk on that side of the road,” wonil offers the other a helping hand, a hand to hold. to avoid those iron beast they call vehicle who happened to running around just like how fast human run back to their home that without realising that they are likely ending someone else life. he offer them a hand to hold, just out of habits. or perhaps… to prevent their death? the answer remain within him.

isn’t afraid of lingering within the dark, she’ll wander all night long if she wanted to. enjoying the fresh air, coldness tickling her pale skin. though, that was her in the past now she has a daughter to attend to and her half sister playing babysitter for the day. goodness, she had forgotten how reckless people can be on the road especially when the sun sets. taking two steps back in order to avoid death whilst throwing the middle finger up in the air towards the individual behind the wheel. 

before she wanted to spill profanities out of her mouth she restrained herself, realizing there was someone else keeping her company. instead, she sighs while reaching out for his hand within hers for a firm grasp. “you’re right. would’ve told them to just run me over but i don’t think those types of jokes are appropriate now.” joking words emit out of her lips, airy laugh as she repositions where she was walking towards. 

“appreciate you watching out for me.” she mentioned, a lighthearted compliment falling through her lips because it was truly meant. sometimes, hana doesn’t realize how softer her heart’s become ever since she had a child. let alone, realizing that her half sister was practically an angel sent from the heavens above. though, through all the tough times she realizes that the baggage isn’t worth making herself sour. hana doesn’t really let go of his hand, fingers intertwined unknowingly while looking over at his taller frame, pace of their footsteps mirrored in the process. “can’t wait to be home with my daughter, she’s probably sleeping by now.”

she enjoys these little moments, of conversations and laying down with eyes staring up above. the sky painted in black and the stars shine so brightly, trying to align themselves together. naeun found herself rambling about how adorable her niece was and even showed the male besides her a photo of the both of them together one sunny summer afternoon in the park. she finds herself rambling on about the dreams she once had and the ones she still holds close to her heart. 

“… my god, my sister has a child before me. that says a lot about me, huh? but maybe one day, i’ll have kids. two. even numbers so they don’t feel so lonely…”

and he’s quiet, eyes drawn to every little detail on her face. surprised that he manage to even get her to talk this much about her but it’s genuine. must’ve focused so much about everyone else that she didn’t realize her own happiness was more important too. for the times where her heart begins to break a little when she speaks about the condition of her grandmother, he gently grazes her palm over her face playfully until strands messily get over her eyes. informing her that everything was going to fall into place carefully, she agrees. 

“… my family encouraged me to study in europe, i came back after a year when my grandmother was feeling worse, it was terrible really…”

the kindest moments overshadowed with bottled emotions. somehow, he even weaseled his way into the cracks of her heart when he let her speak more about her family. the way she was afraid of relationships because her father cheated on her mother with hana’s mother in the early years of the relationship. or the fact that hana was a single mother and that if she was in that position, there was no way she could manage as well as her half sister. 

“… i haven’t been in one single relationship. i’m in my mid-twenties and i’m still afraid of love because maybe i can’t bear the feeling of knowing there’s a small chance that the love will fade…”

and she was on the verge of wanting to cry in front of juho because sometimes it hurts her every time she had to say goodbye when she has to go back home. how she didn’t want anyone to burden with the dark emotions that seep into her mind when she couldn’t fall asleep because she’s afraid of being alone and failing when she’s close to becoming the nurse she wanted to be in the family. 

“… i work so hard because i want to provide for my family for all that they’ve done for me…”

they fall silent at this point. 

i want you to know that i believe in you. “thank you.”

it takes him a whole minute, sixty seconds to wrap his mind over the fragile woman. those who shine brighter than a light were those who have to hold onto the darkest pieces without saying a word and he says something she needed to hear after all this time. from the accidental mistakes to the reassurance she’s been wanting to hear. 

“i needed to hear that,” naeun said, head turning away from him for a brief moment. childishly closing her eyes tightly because she didn’t want to become more emotional than she already was in front of the musician. it’s rather embarrassing and the moment he slips his arm gently on the underside of her head to coil her into a firm embrace is when she shifts over to his direction. he listened to every single word that falls directly out of her lips, despite the hesitation and the softness of her tone. his eyes just remained there, following her motions and understanding who she was. “i believe in you too, in whatever you do.”

she was much more than this adorable girl, who happened to laugh at his jokes despite them not being so funny but something about her laughter is what radiants her personality. naeun doesn’t even believe in love at first sight but she understands that people meet for a reason and god, is luck was supposedly on her side for once she doesn’t want to let this go.
