How do I explain to my professor that I havenโt done anything this week-end because I replayed Re4 even tho I finished it last week ? ๐ซก i mean...i study video games so he shouldnโt be mad at it haha..right ?
๐เนึป Leon S. Kennedy - Got my eye on you ๐เนึป

This was supposed to be short but I got carried away (oops), to me this takes place between re4 and re6 so i picture re4 Leon. Might write a part 2 if you guys like it ! ps: I feel like a toxic ex coming back every year with a new writing
Warning: zombies (obviously), mention of fighting, minor injuries, blood, Leon being a menace and a flirt
ps: I'm also taking request for this character !
The wheels of the jeep come to a halt as they reach the woods, a few kilometers away from the main road. Silence fell immediately, broken only by the faint creak of the vehicle settling on the frozen ground.
Leon carefully closed the door and adjusted the strap of his rifle as a gush of cold wind whipped through his blond locks. His breath fogged in the cold air as he scanned the shadows ahead.
A faint crackle echoed in his earpiece.
โKennedy, do you read me ?โ
You were stationed not so far behind; you, on the other hand, had the luxury of being nestled in a heated tower at least. Your mission was simple, on paper, keep. Leon. Alive. through that mission.
โLoud and clear.โ He responded, his voice calm and collected โ the type that seemed unsettling considering the situation you both were in.
โThis is tactical support. Iโll be guiding you through the mission.โ
Leon started down the narrow path leading into the snowy forest, boots crunching on the ice-covered ground.
โName?โ The question took you by surprise; you werenโt used to having to introduce yourself. Usually, agents would simply take your information and proceed with the process.
โY/N.โ
Leon nodded slightly. You couldnโt see it, but the gesture felt necessary.
โAlright, Y/N. Situation?โ
On the other end, multiple screens glowed dimly in the operations room, displaying maps, thermal signatures, and satellite feeds.
โThe village of Montneige is about three hundred meters ahead. Satellite scans show several heat signatures, butโฆโ
You hesitated, something on your screen just didnโt seem right from the get go.
โTheyโre irregularโฆโ You whispered, almost carefully, like you didnโt want to believe it at first.
Leon slowed his pace, eyes narrowing. His voice brought you back to your senses; you knew what you were here for; this isnโt like you werenโt trained to spot zombies.
โIrregular how?โ
โBody temperatures are below normal human ranges.โ
A sudden gust rattled a nearby metal gate. Leonโs hand moved instinctively toward his pistol.
โGreatโฆ already a warm welcome.โ
Her voice softened just slightly, almost a whisper over the static.
โWelcome to the French Alps, Kennedy.โ
Leon recharges his pistol after successfully clearing the first few houses of the infected that were hiding in their walls. As his boots crunch the snow beneath them, he makes his way deeper into the rocky lands under the mountains that came forward.
He surprised himself when he caught himself missing Spain; at least the weather was somewhat nice there. Here, even his shearling jacket couldnโt quite keep the cold out.
The creaking sound of his earpiece announced your voice before you could talk.
โKennedy.โ Your voice is calm but tense. You didnโt have to tell, for him to know you were probably relatively new at that job. โKeep to the left of the main street. Thereโs movement near the church. I canโt get a clear visual yet, but itโs not alone.โ Leon slowed, scanning the area around him. The stained-glass of the church towering above the trees and meters told him to stay away for now.
โUnderstood.โ He responded in a clear voice and followed your instructions. The path you were suggesting seemed to be a long one; no other building seemed to peak from his point of view, so he engaged the communication again. โSo, Y/N. How long have you been working for the DSO ?โ
It took you a few seconds to speak again. โUmโฆI donโt think this question aligns with the missionโs objective.โ Not so sure if you could respond to this, you decided to avoid it. โWell, I have a long way ahead of me, might as well discuss. No ?โ
The shift in the conversation was so contradictory to what you were trained for, but you could sense the cheeky smile Leon had on his face as he waited for your answer. So you fell for it. โOkayโฆum, itโs been around two years, Iโd say. But Iโve only helped agents through comms a few times.โ
Your job was mostly administrative; the majority of the time, going through long period of training was the way for the DSO. They figured pairing you with an experienced agent like Leon Kennedy, who was more than capable of dealing with your possible mistakes, could only do you a favor. But it only made you more anxious.
Leon reloaded his pistol after clearing the first few houses of infected hiding in the walls. His boots crunched in the snow as he made his way deeper into the rocky foothills beneath the looming mountains.
He caught himself missing Spain, at least the weather had been somewhat nicer there. Here, even his shearling jacket couldnโt quite keep the cold out.
The creaking sound of his earpiece announced your voice before you could speak.
โKennedy.โ Your voice was calm but tense. He didnโt need to be toldโyou were probably relatively new at this job. โKeep to the left of the main street. Thereโs movement near the church. I canโt get a clear visual yet, but itโs not alone.โ
Leon slowed, scanning the area. The stained-glass windows of the church, towering above the rooftops, told him to keep his distanceโฆ for now.
โUnderstood,โ he replied, voice steady, following your instructions. The path you suggested seemed long, no other buildings peeked from his point of view, so he engaged the comms again. โSo, Y/Nโฆ how long have you been working for the DSO?โ
It took you a few seconds to answer.
โUmโฆ I donโt think this question aligns with the missionโs objective.โ You hesitated, unsure if you should respond.
โWell, I have a long way ahead of me. Might as well talkโฆ no?โ
The shift in the conversation went against everything youโd been trained forโbut you could sense the cheeky smile in his voice as he waited. And somehow, you found yourself falling for it.
โOkayโฆ um, itโs been around two years, Iโd say. But Iโve only guided agents through comms a few times.โ
Most of your job was administrative, and the majority of your time was spent in long periods of training. Pairing you with an experienced agent like Leon Kennedy, who could handle any potential mistakes, was meant to be a favor. But somehow, it only made you more anxious.
โSoโฆTwo years, huh ? Not much field time, then. Nervous ?โ You hated how he could read through you lie this in just a few interactions through a damn radio. โOnly slightly, I trust youโll survive anything, right ?โ You hear a chuckle in your headset, and a smile forms on your face. โIโve survived worse. But that doesnโt mean I canโt keep you on your toes.โ
As time passes, you and Leon take out several infected on your way, some more dangerous than others. โOh wow, I didnโt see that one coming.โ It became a routine to comment on Leonโs action, which brought some kind of amusement to the mission, even though it sounds insane to acknowledge. โItโs nothing I canโt handle.โ The grunt that followed gave you the feeling he was still fighting; somehow, that sound rang through your whole body.
You couldnโt seriously be attracted to a voice through comms right now, in the middle of a fight, to say the least. You swear you would punch yourself in the face if you had the courage to do so. Well, you did meet him, or more so, saw him from afar at the DSO headquarters when you were preparing for that mission.
Leon was an attractive man, of course. But he never gave you the time of day before this, you always saw him as a full-of-himself type of guy. You werenโt expecting him to be funny and surprisingly talkative before this.
Unfortunately, you were quickly called back by your job as your screen catches the heat curves of an unusually big creature. โSomething bigger than normal on your right.โ You said in an instant, and Leon is quick to change his focus to the sound of the heavy steps coming his way. โShit.โ Is all he mumbles before the creature steps out from behind the snow-covered fence.
It towers over him, its body grotesquely swollen beneath torn layers of clothing that once belonged to a villager. The skin of its arms is stretched and mottled with dark veins, one limb hanging longer than the other as if the bones had grown unevenly.
Its head jerks violently to the side, jaw twitching in spasms before opening far wider than any humanโs should. A low, wet growl escapes its throat, steam rising from its mouth into the freezing air. For a moment, the creature simply stares at Leon with cloudy, unfocused eyesโฆ
Then it charges.
His first instinct is to shoot twice in its torso, but it barely slows down. Leon is then quick to move to the side, letting the creature crash into an already half-collapsed house behind him. Leon take this as an advantage to lunch a grenade at it, it seemed to do a lot more damage this time.
On the other end of the line, you were on the edge. The silence in your headset was louder than it has ever been. Worry takes over your heart as you wait for the return of Leon, pleading for him to be okay after this.
You only dared to speak after your signals showed no signs of life from the creature. โLeon ?โ No response. โLeon ? Are you okay ?โ He could sense the panic in your tone as he muffled curses through his teeth. He fidgets with his earpiece for a moment to get it to work again. โYeahโฆIโm good.โ
You let out a sigh as you hear his deep voice again. โThought I lost you for a sec.โ He takes a moment to regain his strength. โYouโre not getting rid of me that easy.โ
A few hours has passed again, the sun was getting low, the tempertures too. Leon could feel his fingers getting numb from the cold air. It was getting harder to pull the trigger sometimes, but he chose not to tell you. As he walked towards the next objective, Leon spiked the conversation.
โStill doing okay back there, rookie ?โ
You leaned closer to your screen, watching his signal move slowly through the snow-covered streets. โI should be asking you that. Your body temperature has dropped three degrees since the last scan.โ His warm chuckle rings through your ears again, and you donโt feel your lips curling into a smile. โDamn, I really canโt keep anything from you.โ
โExactly, I have my eye on you, Mr. Kennedy.โ Your eyes drifted to another screen that was showing the weather forecast. It wasnโt long before snow would start to fall upon Leon, and his body temperature already reducing was worrying. โYouโre calmer now.โ His remark took you by surprise and confused you.
โWhat do you mean ?โ You turned back, suddenly more focused on his response than anything appearing on your headboard. โEarlier,โ He said after a moment. โWhen that thing showed upโฆ you sounded like you were about to jump through the radio.โ Your cheeks warmed instantly, and you lowered your head to hide them, as if he could see you.
โI was not.โ You responded, almost defensively. His answer was quick. โYou called my name. Twice.โ You raised your eyes in an instant, opening your mouth to respond, but you stopped. He wasnโt wrong. You cleared you voice before speaking again, trying to sound as professional as you can be. โI was making sure you were alive, thatโs part of my job.โ
You couldnโt see it, but Leon rolled his eyes at your attempt at an explanation. โRight.โ He clearly wasnโt convinced but decided to let it slide for now. โStill. Itโs nice to know someoneโs got my back.โ
For a brief moment, you didnโt answer. Your eyes moved between the thermal feed and the small blinking dot that represented him on the map.
โDonโt get used to it,โ you said finally. Leon smirked to himself as he continued walking through the quiet village. โToo late.โ
โHave you ever been to France before ?โ This time, youโre the first one to speak, a small smile appearing at the corner of Leonโs lips. He answered. โNot during a biohazard outbreak.โ You laughed; it was subtle, but Leon managed to catch it. โYeahโฆ canโt say I recommend it.โ
โJokes aside, no, Iโve never been in this region, heard Paris is pretty romantic.โ The shift in the conversation made your heart sink ever so slightly. โI think there are places more romantic than Paris, honestlyโฆโ You commented, leaning back into your chair, using your foot to balance you and two of its feet. โOh yeah ? Tell me more, Iโm interested.โ
โYou want me to give you my secret romantic places for you to take your girl there ? How rude.โ You teased, and Leon bit his lip; he wasnโt expecting you to flirt. He loved it.
โOkayโฆ guess I wonโt have any choice but to take you with me if I ever visit these places.โ
Your heart drops to your stomach, this time, there was no denying it. That sentence was clearly flirtatious, and you couldnโt say you didnโt like it. But was it really a good idea to give in ? To continue whatever you started ? Getting attached to the agent you were supposed to guide through a biohazard zone in the middle of the French Alps? That sounded like the exact opposite of professional.
You couldnโt stop the small smile tugging at your lips.
โCareful, Kennedyโฆ that almost sounded like a date.โ
Leon chuckled again as he stopped in his tracks. The entrance of a cave seemed to be the only way possible in front of him. Yet he still found the time to flirt back.โCareful, rookieโฆ keep talking like that and I might acโ krrshh โwellโฆ you knโ .โ What came back through your comms seemed more like a jumble of broken words than actual sentences.
โLeon ? Your signal is breaking up.โ Your eyes drift back to your screens that you had forgotten about a while ago, and noticed a zone of disruption in the comms. The one you had been dreading.
โOkay, Leonโ krrshh โI wonโt be able to communicate with you from here.โ Your voice broke through the static, strained but still understandable to Leon.
โYou have one hour to get back to meโฆ or Iโm calling the helicopter.โ Leon nodded instinctively, setting up an invisible clock in his mind. โYes, maโam.โ Holding his flashlight up to light the way ahead. He could already hear the clacking sound of the infected who had made the place their home. Or maybe it was the sudden silence that got him hyper-aware of the sounds surrounding him.
One thingโs for sure, he was already missing your voice.
The countdown you set up was showing less than 10 minutes left and there was still complete silence. Still no sign from Leon, you were pacing around in the small room that the communication tower was offering. Your screen wouldnโt give you any information on his whereabouts either, it was honestly torture at this point.
Something in you made you believe Leon wasnโt going to come out of that cave. You hated to think, but it was a possibility. As you sat down again, your fingers were already prepared to call the helicopter earlier than promised when you heard a crackle in your ears. โLeon ?โ
Silence again. โLeon, please. Are you okay ?โ The radio crackles once more, and you seem to finally catch the tone of his voice. โStill alive.โ His voice is hoarse; something isnโt right. You can catch the sound of his heavy breathing, he even mumbles a curse.
Although Leon is alive, he did gain a bad wound in his ribs from fighting another disgusting creature in the dark alleys of the cave he just got out of. โYour heartbeat is skyrocketing, Leon. Whatโs wrong ?โ Of course, you still had your eyes on the vital signs his gear was sending you.
โJust a scratchโฆโ He moved to take his jacket off, just to see how badly that monster hit him. Clearly, it wasnโt, you could tell but decided not to fight about him undermining his injuries, instead you go back to your professional state. โCan you walk ? You have to shelter, a storm is coming your way.โ
In a grunt, after tending to his wound as best as he could, Leon got up again. You point out a hollow in the mountain a few hundred meters ahead and urge him to reach that point as the snow starts to fall more heavily by the second. When Leon arrived, he immediately took shelter under the overhang. His body screamed at him to sit down, and he quickly collapsed onto the cold ground. The temporary bandage he had made was already slipping.
โYour heart rate is still high.โ Your voice echoes in the air. โI just fought a mutant in a cave.โ He sounded bitter, you felt it to your core, but you couldnโt let those stupid feelings get hurt right now. โDid it bite you ?โ Your worried tone made Leon wince. โNo, just took a bad blow in my ribs, thatโs all.โ You caught yourself wanting to be there to help him. You canโt imagine the pain he must be in, and you couldnโt stand feeling helpless right now.
โDo you have something to tend to it ?โ Leon was already fidgeting with his gear to find his next medic kit when you asked. โI do, Iโm hoping this one will stick.โ
โJust take your time, Leon, you will have to stay there for a while anyway.โ The storm was starting to rage outside the hollow. Leon will be stuck in there until it calms down, but he wasnโt having it. โI still have to clear the rest of the villageโฆโnghโthereโs no time to waste.โ He grunted as he cleaned his wound, trying to treat it carefully this time. โYou wonโt be able to clear it if you pass out in the snow, Kennedy.โ
Your voice sounded like an order, contradicting the light tone you two shared since the beginning of the mission. Leon smiled, he liked it, heck he found it attractive even. โI might think youโre enjoying bossing me around, rookie.โ He finally relaxes against the rocky wall behind him after the bandage seemed to stay in place for now. The bleeding too looked to have stopped; the only thing left was to wait and see.
On the other hand, you swear you would punch him in the gut for the flirty comment he just made. You groaned, rolling your eyes even though he couldnโt see it. โLeon, I swearโฆ if you flirt while youโre half-frozen and bleeding, Iโm going to lose it.โ
โHalf-frozen, sure. Bleeding? Minor inconvenience. Flirting? Essential survival tactic,โ he shot back, smirking in his voice. โKeeps me motivated, you know.โ
You clenched your fists at your sides. โMotivatedโฆ really? Thatโs what weโre calling risking death in a snowstorm now?โ
โExactly. And, I might addโฆ it seems to work,โ he murmured softly, and you could almost hear the faint lift of his lips, the small spark of humor in the grim situation. You let out an exaggerated sigh, exasperated, but the warmth in your chest betrayed your words. โYouโre impossible.โ
Leon was dozing off, his eyes closed; he took the opportunity of being stuck here to try to get some sort of relaxation. That was until you cut through the silence. โLeon, somethingโs coming.โ He jolted back up instantly, his gun heavy in his hand as he put his guard up, ready to shoot at the first occasion. โI thinkโฆโ Your voice held worry, like you couldnโt quite pinpoint what was about to fall upon him.
โIt might beโฆโ Leon held his breath, walking slowly towards the icy storm to take it by surprise. โSanta Claus.โ You finished, and he relaxed in a second. โFuck you.โ You laughed with all your heart into your mic, and Leon felt his chest tighten. โYou think youโre funny, huh ?โ He sat back down, holding in a laugh.
โOh, come on, youโre the one cracking jokes all the time. Itโs only fair that I get back at you.โ He lets out a long sigh that shakes you to your core. โFine, Iโll let it slide for now, rookie.โ The time was getting long, too long. Your cheek now resting in the palm of your hand as you stare at your screen, you secretly plead for that storm to end.
At least you got a window to speak some more with your beautiful agent. โNow that I think about it, I never thought youโd be the type to be funny.โ You confess, and itโs true, passing by Leon in the corridors of the DSO, your impression of him was never what you were discovering these past few hours. โWhat do you mean ?โ He was intrigued.
โWell, youโre always so focused. The few times we had to meet to prepare the missions, you barely talked. You didnโt strike me as a sympathetic guy, you even looked scary sometimes.โ Leon lowers his head, feeling guilty all of a sudden. He never realised or even thought about what his behavior could send as a message. It annoyed him that you had that image of him; that wasnโt what he was.
But the fact that you made those assumptions meant that you probably werenโt the only one thinking all of this. โIโฆI never thought about that, honestly. But I get it. When Iโm at work, I tend to be a little tense, I guess.โ You pursed your lips, feeling you might have gone too far with this one. The air felt awkward all of a sudden as you two didnโt speak for a minute.
โI thought you were quite unapproachable too, you know.โ It seemed he was the one making a confession now. You rose up, honestly, you didnโt even think he wouldโve acknowledged your presence even in the past. So when he says that, it leaves you hanging for more. Your silence seemed to encourage him to speak again.
โYouโre quite intimidating.โ Your eyebrows furrowed, not understanding what he meant by that. โIntimidating ?โ Your interrogative tone made him smile ever so slightly, reminiscing about the first time he saw you across the room during one of those long briefings from the higher-ups.
You were intimidatingly beautiful, which is what he wanted to explain in the first place. The type that sticks to his brain and would never come out if he dared to talk to you. Thatโs probably why he chose to stay away, not giving you the time of day. Despite being a trained agent who faced countless of monster, cult leaders, killed two super-human giant figures, Leon Kennedy was apparently a coward when it came to talking to a beautiful woman.
โYeah,โ he muttered. โYou walk into a room like you belong there. Like you already know exactly what youโre doing.โ
You blinked at the console in front of you, unsure how to respond to that.
โThatโsโฆ not intimidating. Thatโs just doing my job.โ Leon huffed a quiet laugh. โMaybe,โ he said. โBut when you look like that while doing itโฆ It kind of is.โ Your cheeks went bright red again as you froze in place. He cleared his throat, realising he too might have revealed too much. He was quick to try to explain himself and change the subject.
โPoint is,โ he added quickly, voice softer now, โI noticed you too. I just figured someone like you probably didnโt need another guy trying to start small talk in the hallway.โ You felt so dumb, like an idiot for not even trying to speak to him in the first place. Maybe it wouldโve changed the outcome.
โSoโฆinsteadโฆโ You spoke slowly, trying to register what he just said. โYou decided to completely ignore me.โ
โHey,โ Leon replied, a hint of his usual smirk returning to his voice, โMysterious silence. Itโs a strategy.โ You let out a small laugh, shaking your head. โTerrible strategy, Kennedy.โ
โYeah,โ he admitted quietly. โStarting to think that too.โ
Another long stretch of time since the beginning of the storm, the snow was finally slowing down. โHey, rookie, think I can come out now ?โ He waited for approval, his hand pushed against the rocky side of the hollow. โHowโs your injury doing ?โ You checked his vitals; they were normal, but you still asked.
โIโm okay, no need to worry.โ You hesitated, but there was no use keeping him stuck in there. You both had a mission to complete. โAlright, just be careful out there.โ
You turn to your side to check the map while Leon continues where he left out, stretching his shoulder that had gone sore. โThereโs not much left to do, but the activity ahead is worrying.โ
You continue discussing the next step, taking down some zombies on the road, and you seem to finally see the end of it.
โThatโs one way to break the ice,โ Leon muttered as he kills another infected, and he heard the chuckle ringing in his earpiece. โAlways finding a way to turn something into a joke, mh ?โ
โAlways,โ The air around you felt light as everything seemed to go to plan. Until you hear rattling, but not coming from the comms. You freeze. Something wasnโt right. Your first instinct is to believe it was just the wind shaking the metal of the tower you were hiding in. The wind had been beating against it for hours after all.
But the sound came again. A slow scrape, like a key turning the metal of a car. Leon, still unaware of your situation, was checking the surrounding area as you carefully took the gun you had placed on your table, just in case.
โRookie ?โ His voice broke the silence. โYeah ?โ You answered, trying to sound casual. You got up from your chair, already locking your eyes on the door. โYou went quiet.โ Your breathing was heavy, your veins pulsating as you heard a loud thud from behind that exact door shook the tower.
โWhat was thatโโ You cut him. โLeonโฆI think someoneโs here.โ
His gaze drifted right to the tower, which he could barely see through the fog and the snow. โShit. Stay calm, okay. And check all the angles.โ You followed his orders, checking with a glance to the other entrances, the windows, nothing was moving, which was more alarming than it should.
You werenโt cut for situations like this. Your hands were trembling. โY/N. Talk to me. What do you see ?โ Leon ran to get a better view, holding his rifle, looking through his lens as if he could see something. You were way too far for him to be able to do something. โNothing yetโฆโ You replied with a shivering voice.
Then the handle of the door slowly twitched.
Your heart nearly stopped.
โLeonโฆโ
The handle jerked again.
Then the door slammed open.
Your training kicked in before fear could. Two shots rang out in the confined space. The infected collapsed instantly, its body hitting the metal floor with a heavy clang.
Silence returned for half a second. Then another sound echoed from the staircase below. Not one. Several.
Leon heard the gunshots through the comms, and he swore he could feel his heart jump out of his chest.
โY/N ?!โ It was his turn to be helpless; he hated it. That was against everything he ever fought for. His role was to protect others, and yet he couldnโt save you.
The rattling sound grew louder, echoing through the metal tower, and you spun around just as a figure lunged from the shadows.
An infected, faster than you expected, slammed against the railing. You fired instinctively, but it was too closeโthe first shot grazed its shoulder, barely slowing it down. Its clawed hand swung at you, catching the edge of your jacket and ripping it open. Pain flared through your upper arm, sharp and searing, and you staggered back, firing again to push it away.
โAaahโฆโ The pain in your shoulder caused you to wince. And Leon fought the urge to run as fast as he could to the tower. He paced and paced, not knowing what to do.
The creature snarled, advancing despite your shots, teeth bared and claws raised. You pivoted, trying to keep it in your sights, but the metal floor was slick with snow and the small trickle of your own blood.
Another swipe caught your side, tearing through your sleeve and grazing your ribs. You gritted your teeth, your hand shaking slightly as you aimed again. The world narrowed to the metallic tang of blood, the snarling figure in front of you, and the burning pain that shot through every movement.
With a final, careful squeeze of the trigger, the infected collapsed against the tower wall, its body shuddering. You leaned against the console, shoulder throbbing, chest heaving, blood warm under your fingers. The storm outside battered the walls, but inside, it was the ache of your injury that grounded youโand the sharp, undeniable awareness that you were now in real danger.
Your body relaxed slowly, but the silence was what struck you the most. โLeonโฆโ getting slowly up, you held on to your shoulder, trying to keep the bleeding from worsening.
No response. Your first thought is to think something happened to him. Took you a moment to realize the infected ripped the communications off.
On the other side, Leon was fuming, almost screaming into his earpiece as your silence gets him more worried by the second. โY/N, you donโt get to disappear on me now.โ
You decided to deal with your open wound before worrying about the comms for now. Hoping Leon wouldnโt do anything stupid. You grabbed a medic kit; it wasnโt anything serious. You got more scared than you got hurt, actually.
Once you have carefully made sure your wound is well-tended to. You sat back in your chair, a panful grunt leaving your lips as you do. You took some more minutes to plug back all the cables for the comms to work again, quickly putting your headset back on, hoping the zombie didnโt completely ruined it.
The crackle in Leonโs ear made him stop in his tracks. He spoke quickly, voice halted by his heavy breathing, โY/N ? You okay ?โ You pushed the button to talk through your mic. โSโStill aliveโฆโ You tried to match his cheeky lines, but you were far from having his charisma. He was quick to catch the strain in your voice. โWhat happened ? Talk to me.โ
โSome infected made their way over hereโฆbut theyโre gone now.โ You took a deep breath to calm your heart from racing, your hands were still trembling from the chock youโve been through. โAre you hurt ?โ Leon paced again, this time towards the tour, trying to reach you as fast as possible. โNothing serious, I already took care of it.โ
โStay put, Iโm coming to you.โ You frowned at his answer, your eyes drifting to your map showing his localisation helped you understand he was moving straight towards you. โLeonโฆstop.โ Your voice came firm through the comms, cutting through the static. โYouโre not coming to me.โ
โNot coming? Y/Nโโ His voice was sharp, urgent, full of that rare edge that usually only surfaced in danger. โYouโre hurt! Iโm on my way!โ You sighed. Leon couldnโt really throw away the mission just for this.
โI said stop.โ You winced as the blood on your sleeve pressed cold against your skin, but your tone didnโt soften. โThe mission isnโt over. You have a few more checkpoints before this is done. Donโt throw it away because you canโt sit still.โ
There was a pause, and you could practically hear him grinding his teeth. โDamn itโฆYouโre impossible,โ he muttered, almost to himself, though the worry didnโt leave his voice.
โAnd youโre a damn fool if you rush out there,โ you shot back, rolling your eyes even though he couldnโt see it. โFinish the mission first. Then you can worry about me.โ
Arriving at the last checkpoint felt like having a sweet being shaken in front of your eyes, you were so close but yet so far from being free. Leon was clearly getting impatient, taking down infected one after another with a brutality that would shock the average person. โCareful, a big number of them are coming to your right.โ
He followed your call, quickly sheltering behind the nearest rock and using his pistol to kill them one by one. โAlmost doneโฆplease donโt die.โ You could swear you heard his chuckle, and you realised you didnโt cut the transmission before saying this. You cleared your throat, refocusing on the next step.
In a quick motion, you sent Leonโs coordinates to the team awaiting the helicopterโs takeoff to take him out of there as soon as possible. When you get the confirmation that they took off, you inform Leon next. โHelicopter coming your way.โ Leon launched a grenade into the pile of infected, wiping out most of them before the big lights of the aircraft blinded him.
He ran to it, jumped on the cord that had been let loose for him to climb, and later reach the cabin. He tapped his earpiece one last time. โIโm in. See you at camp Y/N. Thanks for everything.โ
Leon watches as the helicopter passes above the tower, in a blink, he managed to see the bodies of the zombies you took out by yourself as you sigh in relief when you see the aircraft finally leaving. Soon later, a vehicule came to grab you too. All the tension that built up during the mission finally leaves your body.
Now, you had something else to deal with: Meeting Leon.
Leon, in the medicโs tent, was getting proper care for his wounds as he thought about you. You were injured too; this was all that was clouding his mind since you got attacked. Never once in his career as an agent for the DSO would he have believed heโd be worried about his tactical support. Yet, here he is, wondering where you were. If you were getting some care, too.
He also wondered about what your meeting would be. Will it be awkward? Or will the conversation flow naturally, like you did the whole mission? His heart fluttered at the thought. โAlright, youโre free to go, Mr. Kennedy.โ The medic talked and took him out of his trans. He then got up, winced at his uncomfortable bandages.
Getting out of the tent, the first thing he sees is the jeep parked in front of him, the light blinding him, and he raises his hand before his eyes. There you were, gracefully getting out of the car. Wrapped in a survival blanket to keep you warm. He couldnโt quite describe what went through his brain.
He realized heโd spent the last few hours worrying about you, imagining every possible worst-case scenario, and now you were standing there, real, in front of him. Snow clung to your hair and clothes, but nothing could dull the quiet strength you radiated. Leon felt a mixture of pride and desire, relief and vulnerability, all at once.
You noticed him too, unable to move, you stared back at him. You were struck by a thought you would never normally admit: every moment you had pushed down your own feelings to stay professional now felt like a small price to payโฆ until now. In this moment, there was only one certainty: you didnโt want to let him go. You didnโt want to leave. Heck, you wanted to run to him.
But a heavy hand pushed you, mumbling about you having to get treatment, and suddenly you remembered your shoulder and the pain stinging it. Until the very last moment, your eyes never left Leonโs, and he never left yours.
When the medic disappeared behind the curtain, after taking care of your wound, Leon was standing there, waiting for his approval to come inside. A cheeky smile on his face, the medic sighed before letting him in.
As you were reading the room, you didnโt budge at the ruffling of the tentโs door. Thinking the medic had made his way back. Itโs only when you turn to him that you flinch. Not expecting Leon there. โSorryโฆdidnโt mean to scare you.โ You chuckled, and he did too. It was weird, hearing his voice loud and clear, without the distortion of the radio. It made it even more attractive.
โYouโare okayโฆโ You smiled, the victory of the mission feeling bittersweet. He let out a breathy laugh. โYeahโฆthanks to you !โ Leonโs eyes softened, and for the first time since the mission began, he closed the distance slightly, sitting next to you, as if drawn by an invisible thread. โIโฆ I was worried,โ he admitted, in raw honesty.
You met his gaze, words caught somewhere between fear, relief, and something else you hadnโt allowed yourself to acknowledge until now. โI know,โ you whispered. โAnd I was worried too.โ
The air between you felt impossibly thick, each second stretching. The silence was also something, but it felt reassuring more than anything. โIt almost feels unrealโฆyou know.โ Your eyes kept drifting from his to his lips. Something about him made you want to get closer, and you did get closer, without realizing it.
โHaving you in front of meโฆโ He nodded, agreeing with everything you were saying. In a bold move, his hand came to your face, removing a lash that fell into your cheek. โLeonโฆโ His silence, he was torturing you. His eyes locked into yours, his eyebrows furrowed, as if fighting something. โIs it wrong that I want to kiss you ?โ His deep voice rang through you like a thousand flying, ringing bells.
That's when you finally noticed how close you were to each other, only millimeters away from your noses touching. Your mouth opened ever so slightly to answer, hesitating. But there was no hesitation in your answer. โPleaseโฆkiss mโโ You were cut off in your track by the feeling of his lips against yours.
The moment his lips met yours, the weight of everythingโthe fear, the worry, the endless hours of tension seemed to dissolve in an instant. Your hands instinctively found their way to his chest, feeling the steady beat of his heart, grounding you both in the now. Leonโs grip was gentle at first, almost tentative, as if testing the waters, before deepening, drawing you closer without rushing, letting the world outside the tent fade into nothing.
Every sharp edge of the mission, every brush with danger, melted away as you lost yourself in him. His lips were warm, soft, and impossibly familiar, each second lingering as it could stretch forever. The quiet of the medic tent became your own private world, a bubble where only the two of you existed, and in that closeness, words were no longer needed.
When you finally pulled back just a fraction, your foreheads rested together, breaths mingling, and your hearts racing in unison. There was a softness in his eyes, a vulnerability that made your chest tighten. โYou have no idea how long Iโve wanted that,โ he murmured, his voice low, rough with emotion.
โI think I do,โ you replied, a small smile breaking through your own trembling, your hands lingering on his shoulders. And for the first time since the mission began, you felt completely, achinglyโฆseen. Safe. And in that safety, the tension that had bound you both unraveled, leaving only the warmth of something new, fragile, and entirely yours.
Leon slowly pulled back, your hands falling to your lap again. You felt cold all over again, already missing his warmth. The loud sound of the medic clearing his throat outside the tent brought you back to your senses. Leon sighed as he got up, clearly not wanting to leave your side. โI got to goโฆsweetheart.โ The nickname made your heart melt yet again, his hand raising again to pull a strand of hair between your ear. โBut letโs grab a drink after all of this is overโฆok ?โ
His voice sounded softer as you nodded. โDonโt let me down again, Kennedy.โ You teased, and the smile you obtained from him brought you joy. โYouโre stuck with me now, rookie.โ
He landed you a last smile before leaving the tent, earning a small argument from the medic upon coming out.
And as the first rays of sunlight crept over the snowy peaks, it wasnโt just the mountains that were illuminated. Something new, something dangerous and exciting, was just beginning to grow between you.

Your husband didn't do it on purpose. Really, he's the last one to forget about anything concerning your relationship. He's actually the kind of man to never forget about an important date in your relationship. He never missed any of your birthdays or important dates, such as the day you got engaged or when you first shared a kiss.ย
So you're not mad at him when he doesn't show up to the restaurant you were supposed to share tonight. Your dear lover must've had a bad day again, one of those who keeps him concentrated on boring paper works for hours.ย
That's why, after about an hour of waiting in the restaurant, you finally find the courage to leave by yourself after apologizing to the owners. Going straight to your lover's workplace with some things to cheer him up.ย
30 minutes later, you're already in the elevator that leads to his office. The sound of your heals on theย tiled floor alerts him of a presence behind him. As he turns around, expecting to see one of his colleagues, he's more than surprised to see you here.ย " ___ ? Don't tell me-"ย He hasn't finished his sentence that he's already looking at his watch to look what time it is.ย
Kento could've thrown himself over a bridge after realizing the mistake that he made. How could he forget about your date tonight. He felt like the worst husband on earth right now and hated himself for getting to emerge in his work. He remembers the promise he made this morning about spending this night together after much time working overtime in his office.
He's quick to get up from his rolling chair to meet you halfway through his office. His warm hands find their well deserved place on your waist as you come close. You can't help but admire his attire, he removed his vest, his normally well tied necktie is slightly loose revealing more of his delicious neck. It also proves how much of a bad day he must've had.ย "It's okay love."ย
The worried look on his face broke a piece of your heart, because you knew he would never do it on purpose and that he was probably injuring himself of ugly names for this small mistake.ย "I brought the date with me."ย You said with an endearing smile on your face as you place the bag full of sushi on his desk. Your hands being finally free, you don't lose a chance to touch him. They find they way slickly around his neck before you lean to give a loving kiss to his cheek.ย
Your husband swore he could've asked your hand in marriage a second time from what is happening right now. He really wonders what he must've done in his past life to deserve such an amazing partner. His arms warp further around your form while his face nestles into the crook of your neck, getting to smell your oh so comforting fragrance.ย "God...I love you so much. And I'm so sorry for forgetting about tonight I-"ย As you were expecting it, he's trying to apologize for hisย omission, but you're quick to cut him off.ย
"Kento. Don't apologize, please, the food is waiting for us, and I'm really hungry."ย He must be starving too, it's a common behavior for him to completely forget about eating throughout the day when he's too focused on his work. He straightens, taking a good look at you before letting go of you,ย much to his regret.ย
It doesn't take long for you to attack these sushi a few minutes later as you both converse about your day. It's only after eating his last piece that your husband finally lets go. His back hit the back of his chair as a dramatic sigh, letting all of his pent-up frustration out before his gaze falls to your figure.ย
Feeling observed, you meet his demanding eyes a few seconds later, your chopsticks between your fingers as you bring your last bite into your mouth. You couldn't tell, but at this exact moment, where nothing other than you mattered at that moment. He just felt at peace next to you, forgetting that he's still at his desk. The expressionย "It's not the bricks of a house that create a home, but rather the people you find inside those bricks"suddenly takes on its full meaning.ย ย
You'reย startled when the blond man reaches to grab the back of your chair, making it roll closer to his after he lost his patience, that's how needy he was.ย "You don't know how much I hate myself right now..."ย He expresses whilst his hand slides up your thigh.ย "You even wore one of my favorite dresses."ย The air seemed to have taken a turn as his fingers caress your skin a bit too seductively for a sushi date.ย
A flirty smile appears on your traits as you hear him complaining.ย "At least you'll be the only one seeing me like this tonight."ย He smiles as you mention this new benefit. Kento doesn't show it often, it's not something he's proud of most of the time, but he can get a little possessive sometimes. Especially when random men find it amusing to look in your direction when you look a bit too delicious.ย "You're right."ย
He straightens, his hand never leaving your thigh, and by instinct your body leans towards his. A hand sliding on your cheek with affection. You can see his eyes wander to your lips, and you already know where this is going.ย "C'me here."ย He whispers, and you can't do anything but oblige. Your lips finally touching his in a soft yet hungry kiss, the kind that shows just how much love you hold for each other.ย
Those kinds of moments never fail to remind him of how lucky he is to have you in his life. You had all the right to be mad at him, to just choose to get back home and wait for him instead of rearranging the night to make it special in its own way. Your only presence is enough to make him forget about everything around him. No one would find a takeaway in their office so romantic, and yet, he wouldn't trade this date for any restaurant in the world.ย
"I love you ___."ย He whispers against your lips, voice full of appreciation and genuine love for you.ย
