“Once again, you knocked it out of the park with dinner, love,” Leon patted his stomach. He reclined in the chair, hands threaded behind his head.

I blushed, our relationship still being new enough that his compliments made me bashful, “Thank you, but it was a team effort. Our junior chef has really been making strides.”

A laugh rumbled in his chest, gracing me with a warm smile, “That’s ‘cause the best chef in the world is their teacher.”

Our cute moment was cut off by my phone buzzing for the umpteenth time that day, “Well this chef has a lotta digital correspondence to catch up on.”

“Don’t worry, I got the dishes,” he said with a kiss to my forehead.

As he started clearing the table, I made my way to the couch. It’d been a long day at work, so busy that I had no time to text anyone back, including my boyfriend. I really needed to catch up with vendors, friends, and just delete the damn spam messages that wouldn’t stop no matter now many times I hit “unsubscribe.”

Leon’s text was the last thing I opened. We’d been home together for the last couple hours anyway. So if it was something important, he would’ve mentioned it by now.

Oh, but it was in fact important. I burst into laughter from the couch.

“What’s so funny?” Leon asked as he joined me in the living room, two glasses of red wine in hand.

“The selfie you sent me earlier.”

He leaned over the back of the couch to get a look, a confused (and cute) look on his face, “What about it? It’s a regular ass selfie.”

“Leon, look at this angle!” I pointed to the photo in question, the angle bringing up mental images of the profile photos of my uncles back in Spain (although not as sexy), “You’re not that old of a man to be taking selfies like this.”

“Love, I’m 50,” he pointed out as he set our glasses on the coffee table.

“Yeah, well, you take selfies like you’re in your 60s” I retorted, grabbing Leon’s phone from his pocket so I could prove my point.

He chuckled, sliding his hand up my thigh as he cozied up next to me, “Do I now?”

I flipped through his photos, “Ok, this one is out of focus. And this one—did you accidentally unlock your phone and take it?” The photo was taken from below, with Leon looking off into the distance, as if he’d been scrolling his phone seconds before.

“Lola, have you seen some of the accidental photos you take? And you’re only 35.” Ok, fine, he was right. There are some random photos on my camera roll of blurry floors and ceilings.

“At least I know how to take a selfie,” I grumbled, “I mean come on, you were my age when front-camera selfies became a thing.”

“I was a little busy countering bioterrorism to be working on my selfie ‘game’” he smirked as he humored my artistic critiques.

“Well I expected something better than this,” I swiped to another gem. This time, the phone was placed way lower, him looking down at the camera with that intensity that I’d come to love, “What, did you accidentally drop your phone mid-selfie?”

His smirk changed to something a bit more sultry, and a mocking laugh escaped him, “Ever think that I chose that angle on purpose?”

I scoffed, “Oh yeah? For what reason?”

He wrapped his arms around my waist, dipping his voice low, “Maybe I wanted to remind you what it was like to be on your knees for me”

My breath caught in my throat as he pulled me flush to him. He continued, “Now, let’s see what this old man can really do.”

leon, to no one's surprise, is lost. you spot him in the glimwood tangle, curious as to why he's deep in these enchanted woods. warnings: none | wc: 988 a/n: somehow this is shorter than the last one, but felt longer while i was writing it... hmm... anyway! new fic! it's inspired by the episode "the sweet taste of battle" from the master journeys series! such a good one! enjoy :3

“By the way, which way is Ballonlea?”

The question comes from a voice you don’t expect to hear this deep in the Glimwood Tangle, where you find yourself on the search for a very specific glowing mushroom. However, the mushrooms would have to wait as you decide to investigate the unmistakable voice of Galar’s beloved Champion, Leon. You make your way through the forest, careful to avoid many of the playful Impidimp. You come out of the brush, dusting off your pants as you look around the trail you’ve stumbled upon. You spot him when you turn your head to the left.

He’s really not hard to miss.

There’s a Spritzee and a Swirlix floating around his shoulders. A Galarian Ponyta trots in front of him, no doubt guiding him towards the small town of Ballonlea. You're quite curious as to how Leon got himself lost this bad. He’s normally terrible with directions, but this was a new kind of lost.

“Leon?”

He stops and turns around, relief flooding his features when he spots someone other than a Pokémon. Despite Galar being as vast a region as it is, you’ve managed to become sort of an acquaintance to the Champion himself. Many times, you’ve found yourself stumbling into him, his natural aversion to going in the correct direction being the reason you see him so often. It would be a rather charming quality of his, if it didn’t happen so often. Nevertheless, he grins when he sees a familiar face, jogging towards you. The Ponyta leading the way stops and follows him to you, as do the Spritzee and Swirlix. You pet the Ponyta when it pauses near you.

“Hello… I seem to be lost,” he chuckles, rubbing the back of his neck, sheepishly. “Do you mind helping me find my way to the Ballonlea Gym?”

A smile spreads across your face. You’re always happy to help the random passerby, so helping Leon isn’t even out of the question.

You two (and the Pokémon) fall into a comfortable pace, heading in the direction of the cozy town of Ballonlea, nestled deep in the Glimwood Tangle. As much as you loved your home in Wyndon, you found yourself travelling to Ballonlea often, finding it strange and mysterious in all the right ways. You’re not sure how Leon has ended up in the forest, though.

“What brings you to Ballonlea?”

“Opal’s thought up a new challenge. She hasn’t told me what it is, but I’m looking forward to it!” He raves, beaming at the thought of whatever Gym Leader Opal has in store for him.

“A challenge? Like the Gym Challenge?” The most recent Gym Challenge had just concluded a few months ago, which Leon had won as he had all the previous ones.

“Ah, sorry… Opal likes to come up with these smaller challenges, usually among the Gym Leaders between Gym Challenges. Sometimes they’re battles, other times, who knows! I’m hoping for a Pokémon battle, though. I find Fairy types to be fascinating battle opponents!”

A thrilled grin finds its way onto his face and a warm smile spreads on yours.

The lights of Ballonlea come into view through the trees in front of you. By now, the Ponyta had rejoined its herd of Ponyta and Rapidash and the Spritzee and Swirlix had floated back to their friends, leaving you and Leon to walk with each other. The pace was slow and steady, Leon took his time, despite knowing he had somewhere to be. Usually, something like this would stress you out, never wanting to be the reason someone was late to an important event. But walking and talking with Leon, all your worries melted away. He exuded a comforting aura, making you feel safe and at ease.

So at ease that you failed to notice the tree root that grew through the path.

It’s broken through enough ground that you trip over it, causing you to lose your balance with no time to recover. You brace yourself to hit the ground.

Instead of dirt, you feel arms around your waist. Leon’s…

“Careful there!” Leon breathes a sigh of relief. You know you wouldn’t have broken a bone or anything if you had hit the ground, but the smile on Leon’s face when he saw that you were all in one piece sent butterflies all throughout you. You place your hands gently on his chest. The material of his jersey did nothing to conceal the firmness of his chest. Heat rises to your cheeks at the closeness.

“Thank you, Leon.” A soft smile, different from the exuberant grin he usually had for the cameras, spreads on his lips as he pulls you upright. His hands drop from your waist (your heart aches at the loss). However, one of his hands finds one of yours, he intertwines his fingers with yours and the heartache you felt is quickly replaced with a warm feeling.

You’d hold his hand forever, if he let you.

The Ballonlea Gym sits up ahead, beautiful and grand as ever. Which means you’d have to let go of Leon’s hand.

“Well… we’re here,” you do your best to hide the disappointment you felt. Leon squeezes your hand, his usual grin now on his face. His eyes sparkled at the sight of the Ballonlea Gym.

“Thank you! I’m sure without your help, I’d be stuck in a never ending game with some pesky Impidimps!” He lets go of your hand, before pulling you into a hug.

“Of course, Leon, I’m always happy to help. Besides, you're good company. Good luck on the challenge, I’d love to hear about how it goes!”

“Maybe I can tell you over dinner?”

Your heart could burst out of your chest. Surely, he could hear how hard and fast it’s beating. As lovestruck as you were, you managed to sputter out a response.

“I… I’d really like that, Leon. I’ll see you then.”

A/N: inspired by ‘he’s my dreamboat’ by Connie Francis, for day 5 of @swoon-june ‘love letters’

You chew at the knub of your pen, staring down at the blank piece of scrap paper in front of you. Leon is going to be up for work any second, the hands of the clock ticking closer and closer to 6:30am, his wake up time everyday. His lunch is packed, thermos filled and sitting on the counter beside the keys to his car. All that’s missing now is your love note.

Once a week, you write Leon love letters. You made it a routine after telling him you loved him for the first time, in the dark of your living room after a heated makeout session. You had told him you loved him, that you were in love with him and it scared you that you were only a little over a year into your relationship and you felt like this, but he had said it back quickly, had cupped your face and smiled so wide it looked like it had ached.

Afterward, when he went to answer the delivery at your front door, you had scribbled a little note, ily with a heart under it and had stuffed it in his jacket pocket. The next day he had called you, saying that finding the love letter had been the highlight of his morning.

That was nearly six months ago, and it was a routine you both loved.

You rarely kept it the same, leaving love letters in his cup holder or under his keys. Beside his tooth brush or tucked into his shoes. You liked to change it up, to keep the surprise going, and Leon loved every bit of it.

You also changed what you wrote. Sometimes they were silly, little doodles of hearts and clouds and flowers with fluffy words. Other times they were bone deep, your affection for him rooted in words you struggled to say aloud.

Now as you stare at the blank paper, your mind goes the same; blank. Nothing newly astounding had happened, nothing that needed extra tenderness, but you wanted to do this for him all the same.

You tap the pen against your lip, frowning at the paper. No grand moments to write about, no first kiss anniversary, no “I'm so proud of you” for passing a test or landing a new job. Just… him. Your Leon. The one who leaves his socks in weird places and hums off-key in the shower and always remembers your coffee order.

A small smile tugs at your mouth.

You grab another sheet, crinkled notebook paper, and start drawing: tiny stick figures holding hands under a lopsided sun with rays like fireworks. One has blonde hair, spiky, messy. The other wears glasses, round frames slightly askew. Above them: “Good morning my favorite cop. Thank you for coming home every night.”

Folding it, you press your lips to the paper and slip it inside his lunch box before standing to grab your own mug of coffee. You’re halfway through with it when Leon stumbles into the kitchen, his uniform crisp but his eyes bleary, a little sleep ridden.

“Well hello sleepy head,” you laugh, putting down your mug. “Sure you’re awake?”

Leon blinks at you like he’s seeing sunlight for the first time, hair sticking up in three different directions. He shuffles forward barefoot, uniform perfectly ironed but clearly slept on, his tie a little loose and one button undone.

“Mmm… morning,” he mumbles, voice thick with sleep. Without missing a beat, he leans down and kisses you right on the lips. A soft one, slow and sweet despite how half-asleep he looks. He pulls back just enough to rest his forehead against yours, eyes slowly focusing now that coffee scent is hitting him full force.

“I’m awake,” he lies through a yawn before reaching past you to grab your mug, not his, and taking a long sip of your coffee like it belongs to him too, which you supposed it does. “I’m up.”

“Sure you are,” you giggle as you study him, and reach up to flatten his hair. “I made your lunch and coffee, it’s on the counter.”

That quiet little joy flashes across his face, the one that only shows when you do something small but so meaningful to him. He turns toward the counter, still cradling your coffee mug like a lifeline.

He sees the thermos first, steam faintly rising, and picks it up, twisting off the lid to sniff. Black coffee. Just how he likes it. No sugar. Then he spots his lunchbox, the bright blue one with dog bones printed on the sides, a gift from you after adopting Rover. His chest tightens just looking at it.

Setting both items down, Leon turns back to you. In two strides, arms are around your waist and pulling you into another kiss, this time deeper, as if every morning could start like this forever.

You hum against him, eyes fluttering shut faintly. He tastes like his tooth paste and your coffee and if his job wasn’t so important you’d ask him to stay.

“You’re going to be late.” You murmur, lips parting as you speak and he takes the opportunity to slip his tongue along your bottom lip.

He does, a teasing brush of his tongue that sends warmth blooming down your neck. Leon’s never been in a hurry with you. Even when he should be rushing, like now, uniform half-tied and badge still hanging loose on its lanyard, he lingers.

But the clock ticks.

A distant part of him knows this: patrol shift starts at 7:30 sharp. Chief Daniels has already given him one warning about tardiness after last month’s rain delay, not that it was his fault.

Still, he nips gently at your lip before pulling back just enough to rest his nose against yours again, breathing you in like oxygen.

“I hate mornings,” he whispers hoarsely, and then steals one more kiss because screw punctuality for thirty seconds. “When I have to leave you.”

“But you come back.” You reply and grin, your hand cupping the back of his neck to play with the blonde hair there. “I have to get ready for work too.”

He steps away from your hold, grabbing his keys and coffee in one hand and his lunch box in the other. “See you tonight?”

You nod as you follow him to the front door, placing your hand on the knob. “Should be back by five.”

“I’ll see you at five then.” Leon’s grin is boyish as you open the door, holding it for him. He dips down, kissing you once and you inhale him, the pressure of his mouth on yours like clouds.

Leon steps out first, boots hitting the porch with a quiet thud. He turns back just once before heading to his squad car, a black-and-white RPD cruiser parked at the curb, and gives you that smile. That Leon smile: bright blue eyes crinkled at the corners, hair messy from your fingers.

He raises his coffee in a silent toast to you as he walks away.

You watch him go, the way he adjusts his vest strap while walking like it's second nature now after months on patrol duty; how carefully he places both items into their designated spots inside that pristine vehicle; even how neatly folded down those stupid little air fresheners hang from rearview mirrors, you teased him for putting one up.

When he reverses you give him a little wave and vaguely through the glass you can see him wave back. As you close the door, you realize you’re grinning, again. You always seem to be when it comes to him.

Rinsing out your coffee cup, you stare out the sink window, wondering when he’ll find the note, and wondering if it’ll make him smile. You smile to yourself at the thought.

Leon sips from the lip of his mug carefully as he turns into the station before throwing the car into park. Twisting his neck to stretch, he gets out, gathering his items before walking in. He’s greeted by his coworkers and he nods to them, his hair bouncing with the movement before he makes it to his locker. When he opens it, he takes in the picture of you and him on Fourth of July, a sparkler in your hand and a grin on your face. It’s infectious, the way you look when you’re happy.

He places his keys on the hook before opening his lunch box to survey the contents. A sandwich, probably ham, a yogurt and a bag of nuts, with a disposable spoon tucked in the corner.

There’s another item tucked into the side though, and he fingers the paper before pulling it out.

The note is slightly crumpled from being wedged beside the yogurt, but carefully folded, neat creases like you took time with it. Leon’s breath hitches just a little.

He recognizes your handwriting immediately: that loopy G in ‘Good morning,’ the heart-shaped dot over the i.

His fingers smooth out the paper as he unfolds it, and there they are, the stick figures under their wonky sun. He stares at them for a solid five seconds, lips parting into that soft expression you exude from him.

One of his fellow officers passes by and gives him a knowing look. “Love letter?”

Leon doesn’t even snap back or play it cool like usual, he just nods once, quietly proud about something so simple as his girlfriend loving him enough to draw silly hearts on paper every week.

He tucks it gently into his breast pocket, right over where his badge sits, and closes up his lunchbox with new energy, and a grin pulling at his mouth.

Whale-watching tour with Leon

The apartment is quiet except for the soft hum of the TV, there’s some nature documentary playing softly. You and Leon barely pay attention to it anymore.

You’re curled comfortably against Leon’s side on the couch, with some peanuts while he scrolls lazily through his phone.

His free hand lazily caresses your arm and his lips often meet the top of your head, your shampoo clouding his senses.

¨What’s your favourite animal?¨ He asks suddenly.

You glance up immediately with your eyebrow slightly risen.

¨That’s random…¨

Leon shrugs without looking away from his phone.

¨Surprise me.¨

You think for a second before smiling softly.

¨Whales.¨

That finally makes him look up from his phone and at you, as you are already looking at him.

¨Whales?¨ Leon repeats, taken by surprise at your answer.

You laugh softly curling even more against his chest.

¨Yeah, whales.¨

¨Why?¨

Your expression softens instantly and look down at the bowl resting over your lap. 

¨They’re really emotional animals.¨ You murmur. ¨They have strong family bonds. Some species even stay connected for life.¨

Leon watches you softly. Your words sink in. His lips curl into a soft smile, he understands now why they are your favorite animals. They’re just like you.

¨They protect each other a lot too,¨ You continue quietly.¨ especially the babies.¨

Something warm settles inside Leon’s chest. You always got softer talking about things you loved.

¨Plus!¨ you grin suddenly, looking back at him¨ Baby whales are sooo cute.¨

Leon huffs softly through his nose. 

¨Cute until they sink your boat.¨

¨They don’t sink boats!¨ You scoff playfully. 

¨I’m tellin’ you right now, if I ever see one in real life, I’m keepin my distance.¨ 

You laugh.

¨Coward.¨

Leon immediately pulls you closer against his chest. 

¨I’m just smart.¨

You roll your eyes before giving him a soft kiss. You grab the TV remote control and change it to something more entertaining.

Little did you know Leon’s is preparing a big surprise.

Months later, cold ocean wind whips softly through your hair while the boat rocks gently beneath your feet.

You still haven’t fully recovered from realizing where Leon brought you.

¨You remembered,¨ you murmur for probably the fifth time that morning.

Leon leans lazily against the railing beside you wearing sunglasses and a dark jacket. A huge contrast to your bright orange bikini set.

¨You say I have memory problems.¨

¨You barely remember where your car keys are.¨

¨That’s different.¨

Your laugh mixes softly with the sound of waves around the boat. You’ve barely stopped smiling since you got out of the plane.

You look at the crystal clear water in front of you, the sun reflecting against it. Everything around you screams calm. Except the excitement in your stomach.

¨You’re excited.¨

You glance up at him immediately. 

¨Of course!¨

A faint smirk pulls at the corner of his mouth.

¨You’ve talked about whales more these last two days than normal people talk about their families.¨

Leon snorts softly.

The guide toward the front of the boat continues explaining migration patterns to the group nearby. 

¨Remember everybody, sightings aren’t guaranteed today.¨ You overhear the guide. Your expression falls immediately.

¨Told you,¨ He murmurs softly beside you, caressing your arm. ¨Ocean’s kinda big. There’s a chance your giant sea cows don’t show up.¨ 

You gasp quietly.

¨They are not cows!¨

¨They are huge.¨

¨They are more than that.¨ You argue.

¨They are still huge.¨

You smile softly before opening your mouth to argue again. Then suddenly. 

A massive spray of water erupts in the distance. The entire boat goes silent.

Your heart skips a beat and you swore you could cry at the excitement you feel in your chest. 

Your hand grabs Leon’s sleeve instantly.

¨Oh my god.¨

A whale breaches partially through the water. Huge, swimming gracefully.

Your entire body freezes beside him. Leon physically feels your grip tighten around his arm.

¨No way…¨ You whisper breathlessly. 

Leon feels his shoulder relax, almost letting out a sigh. He’s been praying that you get to see the whales today. He’d actually feel disappointed if you both didn’t.

The guide starts talking excitedly nearby but you barely hear any of it.

Another shape surfaces beside the whales. Way smaller. A baby whale.

Your entire face softens quickly, your lips turn into a small pout it almost hurts Leon to look at it.

He glances between the whales and your expression. The whales, mildly terrifying. You, completely enchanted.

The calf surfaces closer this time. A soft rush of air leaves its blowhole before it disappears beneath the water again, circling lazily near the boat. 

You almost fly to the edge of the boat, gripping the metal bar tightly.

¨Leon,¨ You whisper, like speaking too loud might scare them away. ¨It’s so little. A little baby.

You laugh softly under your breath, without looking away from the water. The small sound of water can be heard as the baby whale surfaces curiously again. 

The people on the boat gasp quietly while cameras start clicking somewhere behind you. 

Meanwhile Leon watches the mother. A huge shadow beneath the water. Calm yet ever watchful.

¨She’s definitely judging us.¨ He mutters quietly.

You look back at him. ¨She’s literally just existing,¨

¨She could flip this boat if she wanted.¨

¨You’re scared of whales?¨

¨I’m respectful of creatures that weight more than military vehicles.¨ You laugh. Leon could listen to that sound forever.

The calf is now beside the railing you’re standing on. It makes a soft clicking noise to its mother, which answers loudly. 

Your entire face melts instantly, you have to cover your mouth.

¨Oh my God, did you hear that.¨

Leon nods slightly. 

You lean slightly over the railing carefully, completely fascinated now. Waving like an idiot to the calf beneath you. 

¨Hi baby.¨ You kneel down, your hand still on the metal bar, whispering to the baby whale, you’re pretty sure people around you think you’re crazy. ¨Hi sweet boy¨

Leon slowly turns his head towards you.

The calf makes a soft clicking noise while surfacing again. Your hand immediately flies to your chest. 

¨You are SO cute.¨ You continue emotionally, almost like talking to a baby. ¨Yes, yes you are. Perfect baby. Sweet angel.¨

Leon blinks. Completely speechless. 

The whale calf circles in front of you. Making you melt over the railing.

¨I love you sososososo much.¨ You whisper dramatically towards the ocean creature.

He stares at you in complete disbelief. You’ve always been this way with animals. Everytime you both see a puppy at the park you always gotta whisper sweet things to it like it's yours.

¨That thing could flip this boat over.¨

You gasp quietly without taking your eyes off the whale. 

¨Don’t say that in front of him.¨

¨Him?¨ Leon repeats. ¨You assigned it a gender already?¨

¨Well, he feels like a boy.¨

¨The whale feels like a boy?¨

¨Mhm.¨ You nod.

Leon drags a hand slowly down his face.

The calf surfaces again closer this time making another curious sound towards the boat.

You open your mouth slightly.

¨Oh my God, he talked to me, Leon!¨

Leon lets out a stunned laugh.

¨Look at this little face.¨

¨Baby, that thing is bigger than you.¨ He blinks, pointing at the baby. 

¨And yet he’s still a baby.¨

¨They’re so social.¨ You speak a bit louder this time. ¨Especially calves. They learn from their mothers constantly.¨

Your voice carries the same warmth from months ago on the couch. The same softness. Leon still remembers every word.

The calf makes another small sound, almost answering back making your heart skip a beat. You feel like a Disney princess.

¨Leon,¨ You whisper. ¨Do you realize how lucky we are right now?¨

Leon watches you instead of the whales. ¨Starting to.¨

The baby swims closer to its mother again, brushing gently to her side as they both swim closer to the boat this time.

Your hand immediately flies to your chest.

¨Oh my God,¨ You mumble. ¨I can’t handle this.¨

Leon laughs quietly under his breath.

¨Yes, you can.¨

¨No, I actually can’t.¨ You turn towards him, still knelt down. ¨This changed me as a person.¨

¨That dramatic, huh?¨ He crosses his arms.

¨You don’t understand.¨ You point emotionally towards the whales. ¨Look at them.¨

Leon obediently looks back at the giant ocean creatures, both of them capable of destroying the boat. 

The calf swims close to its mother now, brushing its head gently across its mother fin.

Then he looks back at you.

Your expression softens softly at the gentle action of the calf.

¨Leon.¨ You look up at him with complete sincerity. ¨I want a baby.¨

He nearly chokes on absolutely nothing. 

¨What?¨

You gesture dramatically towards the whales again.

¨Look at THEM.¨

¨I am lookin’ at them.¨

¨Now I want a baby.¨

Leon stares at you silently while the ocean breeze blows your hair softly. His hand slides over his mouth trying to hide the laugh escaping him.

¨You can’t just say things like that outta nowhere, sweety.¨

¨I’m having an emotional experience.¨ You say, defending yourself.

¨You’re havin’ a whale-induced baby fever.¨

¨Yeah.¨ At least you’re honest.

Leon’s eyes drift toward the mother whale swimming beside her calf. And then, to the happiness tainting your face.

Both, mother and calf, make a small sound before disappearing beneath the water.

He feels content. The whole trip was for this, not only the whales but for you. About seeing you happy.

His hand slides quietly into yours, his warm fingers intertwined with yours. He helps you stand up

It takes you by surprise. You turn at him immediately. Leon shrugs softly.

¨Figured whale expert needed some emotional support.¨

Your smile turns unbearably soft. 

¨Thank you for bringing me here, baby.¨

Leon’s chest tightens at the softness of your voice. 

¨Yeah, baby.¨ He murmurs quietly against your lips ¨Worth it.¨ He says, before finally locking his lips with yours in a soft kiss.

The campus building were almost empty, there were only a few people left inside as he could hear the rain taps outside of his office. Leon's thoughts were drifting back to her as he packed his things to leave work, when suddenly—

" 𝘓𝘦𝘰𝘯! 𝘴𝘰𝘳𝘳𝘺 𝘪𝘵 𝘵𝘰𝘰𝘬 𝘴𝘰 𝘭𝘰𝘯𝘨 "

her voice breaks the silence of the room as she barged in to his office. He remember asking her to buy him a cup of his favorite coffee before it rains. Her leather jacket was damp, as she stood in the middle of the doorway.

" 𝘺𝘰𝘶'𝘳𝘦 𝘭𝘢𝘵𝘦. "

" 𝘴𝘩𝘶𝘵 𝘪𝘵, 𝘐 𝘬𝘯𝘦𝘸 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 "

She let out a heavy sight, tossing her bag onto his desk.

" 𝘢𝘭𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘥𝘺 𝘨𝘰𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘩𝘰𝘮𝘦, 𝘔𝘳 𝘒𝘦𝘯𝘯𝘦𝘥𝘺? "

He was in the middle of such haste, tidying up his desk and files, when she call him out by that name, he stopped for a minute.

He turned off the lights of his office, now it's just them walking down the empty hallway with coffee in their hands. A sudden awkward silence fell in between them before Leon took a sip of his coffee and offers to drive her back home despite her earlier teasing.

Inside the car, he plays his favorite music on the radio as she sat beside him. She watches as he drive, his arm rested loosely over the steering wheel while the other leaned against the door, fingers tapping near the window as the city lights swept across his skin.

Despite the music, they can feel that there's still a border of silence between them..

" 𝘚𝘰 𝘺𝘰𝘶'𝘳𝘦 𝘧𝘳𝘦𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘸𝘦𝘦𝘬𝘦𝘯𝘥? "

" 𝘏𝘦𝘺 𝘐 𝘴𝘢𝘸 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 𝘧𝘪𝘯𝘦 𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘦𝘳 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩𝘵— "

They accidentally says at the same time. Well at least they do think of spending some time together.

A involuntarily pause linger after both of them as the realization hits. Leon can feel heat creeping up his neck before replying back,

" 𝘐𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘸𝘢𝘺 𝘰𝘧 𝘢𝘴𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘮𝘦 𝘰𝘶𝘵? "

Leon's right hand rested steadily on the steering wheel, fingers lazily shifting with every turn of the road while the other held hers on between the seats. The moment he held her hand, she averted her gaze away to the side, not daring to look at him even though he's entirely focused on the road

"𝘺𝘦𝘢𝘩.. 𝘐 𝘤𝘢𝘯 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘣𝘢𝘣𝘭𝘺 𝘮𝘢𝘬𝘦 𝘵𝘪𝘮𝘦 𝘯𝘦𝘹𝘵 𝘸𝘦𝘦𝘬, 𝘴𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘥𝘴 𝘨𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘵? "

Leon says as be brought her hand close to his lips, and gave her a soft kiss on her knuckles.

Perhaps by now, he could see how his students managed to assume that they're together just by looking at them getting along around campus.

Leon always cleaned his guns at the kitchen table

Slow hands.

Careful movements.

Sleeves pushed to his elbows while warm light from the stove hood caught on the old scars crossing his forearms.

Fresh from the shower, hair still damp at the ends, he looked less like a government weapon and more like a man trying very hard to exist quietly for one evening.

You sat across from him pretending to read, though neither of you believed that for even a second.

His eyes flicked up without lifting his head. “You’ve been staring at me for ten minutes.”

“I have not.”

Silence lingered that only the soft click of metal disturbed.

Then, with the faintest curve tugging at the corner of his mouth, “if you're gonna keep it up, come sit in my lap."

The thing about Leon was that he never sounded overly confident when he flirted with you.

Never rehearsed.

Never smooth in the way people expected him to be.

It always came out low and a little rough around the edges, like the words had been sitting in his chest for a while before he finally let them escape.

When you stood, his gaze tracked you immediately.

Like even after all this time, he still couldn’t quite believe you kept choosing him.

And when you finally settled into his lap, warm skin against damp cotton, he exhaled softly through his nose and rested his chin against your shoulder for a moment before returning to work one-handed, entirely unbothered by the fact that you were now making his job infinitely more difficult.

rookie!leon who's the best at aftercare. he lifts himself off you steadily, shifting to the side of the bed. he takes hold of your back and legs as he props your body upright on the headboard. "stay right there," he says gently, parting from you with a kiss to your head. about a half a minute goes by before he returns with a tall glass of water, and a warm rag. the lights are dim as he wipes your body, never pressing too hard, like he thought you were made of glass.

rookie!leon who loves close contact, pulling your naked body into his lap as you curl into his hold. he tops your head off with kisses and strokes, running his hand through your hair, down your back, and into your hand, as you kiss his chest.

rookie!leon who tells you how well you did for him. cupping your face in his calloused hands as he peppers kisses onto your face...your cheek...your jaw...your lips...your nose... all while whispering little praises like, "you're so beautiful," or "you have no idea how much i love you," as you smile in return, melting further into his grasp.

rookie!leon who holds you close as he strokes your hair, fingers carefully nestling by your scalp. your face pressed in between his neck and shoulder, spraying your even breaths onto his warm skin. his arm leaves your hard and comes around to your face every now and then, pulling the two of you away momentarily to make sure you're okay.

rookie!leon whose favorite part of every day is being with you. he lets his fingers dance across the skin of your back, flooding your body with a tingly sensation. both under the covers and ready for sleep, he recounts his day to you at the station, words leaving his lips in a husky, soft tone. you can only respond weakly to him, with a simple hum of your voice. but rookie!leon doesn't mind, because his favorite person is sewn in his arms. he keeps talking, tracing his fingers as delicately as he can, before hearing the soft snores of you below him. "goodnight honey," he says before pulling you near, and closing his eyes.
