TO THE DEATHLY INSECURE

Change, not because you hate yourself

But out of all the love you have for yourself.

I promise that what you think is

Irreparable and unforgivable, isnt.

Your birth was not a sin, and you don’t

Have to spend your life trying to repent

For your existence.

If you spend your childhood shrinking,

Growth will feel so very painful.

The cage you built as armour will

Fight you tooth and nail.

Accepting you are worth so much more

Than the shit you have been given means

Accepting you have wasted

so much of your time being small.

It will break your heart.

Do it anyway.

Care for yourself even if you aren’t sure

That you deserve it yet (you do).

Tell yourself you deserve the best things

Even if you don’t believe it (yet you should).

And as your insecure self begins to fall away,

You will sometimes feel you are on a rock

In the middle of a terrible storm.

It may scare yourself so badly

You think that living under

the rock was better (it wasn’t).

Keep living as your highest self

And you will get closer to them.

Stand your ground and spit your

Truth at anyone trying to deny it.

Please, please believe you are the world

Because the world is so much

Better when you do.
