and I love how you’re forcing me to take things
s l o w with you
as if you’ve known I’ve spent most of my life running
in and out of flings and relationships
in search of a safe space to call home.
a marathon lover boy with no clear destination
and no sense of direction, yet pulled and mislead
toward any stray whisper of a wind current.
————————
the other night, while making dinner together
in my kitchen, in between laughter and smiles
you grabbed me by my favorite shirt
and pulled me in closely with conviction
and said “you’re pushing me away, take it easy”
in the softest tone, as if pleading to the smallest, most vulnerable parts of me.
“i need this to be a slow and passionate burn.”
———————
and if this was a prayer
to anyone who cared enough to listen
consider me a follower of your religion
ready to walk my way into your kingdom
with your permission and guidance.
